A beautiful circular driveway greets you as you arrive to El Tigre, a newly renovated waterfront house, on a private salt water lake in the town of Southold bordering Greenport. Boating, waterskiing, kayaking, sailing, snorkeling and swimming off your back door. Home sits on an idyllic spot, with 150 feet of beachfront. The home is hypoallergenic: all organic materials and only renewable resources were used for its construction. Solar energy.

El Tigre is very Zen, and was arranged using feng-shui principles. Furnished with beautiful antiques or environmentally friendly furnishings. All those who visit find it to be a magical place of peace and rest. Three bedrooms, two baths, including en suite master bedroom overlooking the water . Brand new kitchen with all new appliances, including chef’s AGA stove. Laundry room in full basement which doubles as a children’s playroom.

Outdoors, you will find a children’s swing set overlooking beautiful Arshamomaque Pond, a lovely outdoor shower with beach stone floors and bamboo siding, 2/3 of an acre all on the water, hammocks and herb gardens. Not to mention the most spectacular sunsets in the world. El Tigre has unobstructed water views and is a swim or kayak away from the Town of Southold's Arshamomaque Pond Preserve. Water life includes scallops and clams, swans, egrets, turtles, osprey and many others. Water is clean and gets nice and warm in the summer.

We are situated in an undiscovered location that we call the best kept secret in the North Fork which itself remains largely undiscovered and tranquil. Other beaches abound: we once visited a different beach for each day of a month. With close to thirty wineries and vineyards within a short driving distance, and more farms than you will ever need, you will have a choice of dining out at the many local restaurants, or eating in to take advantage of the local produce, fish, and wines. The nearest farm, Farmer Joe’s, is walking distance. Pick from the many herbs in our herb garden, including tons of lavender, to prepare your favorite meal. We can also recommend catering services.

Kayak, bikes, motor boats may be rented. Five minute drive to the beautiful waterfront Island’s End Golf Course. Other golf courses include the famous Bethpage black, about one hour’s drive. The Long Island National and Cherry Creek are less than half an hour’s drive. All of the above are public golf courses.

Deep sea fishing available off of Greenport, which is located three miles from the home. Greenport is a historic New England style village, with lots of quaint boutiques, antique shops and restaurants. Shelter Island is accessible by ferry, and is a great place to hike, bike, or dine on Sunset Beach. Take another ferry to the beautiful village of Sag Harbor, in the Hamptons. Manhattan is accessible by luxury bus, and a day trip to catch a show is easily done. Other day trips include a visit to the Foxwood Casino, to the beautiful village of New London, Connecticut, to the Mystic Seaport and Aquarium. Or just stay home and enjoy our little corner of paradise.

Rent includes all utilities, weekly cleaning on monthly rentals, 100% organic cotton bed linens and towels, beach towels. Cable TV, local and long distance phone service to certain countries, rubbish and trash removal, and a high speed internet wireless connection, so you can work on the beach.

Rates based on 6 person occupancy and subject to change without notice. Maximum occupancy 6. Security deposit is fully refundable after inspection and inventory check.

To make a reservation we ask for 50% advance rent through PayPal or money order, with the balance and security deposit due 45 days before your arrival.

  • El Tigre is a delightful place to stay. You feel like you on a zen-like retreat. It has all the modern appliances and comforts, but you'll want to wake up looking at the animal and bird activity. With all the windows, you feel like you are living in a animal planet show. This is a sit back and relax kind of place and the wineries are a short distance away. I will stay here again!

  • El Tigre is a place that ensures a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. From the early morning sunlight over the lake to the wonderful breezes on a hot day to the magnificent sunsets that never fail to amaze, El Tigre is a special place in which to replenish and unwind. Though there are lots of dining opportunities in the area, the fresh fish that is available daily and can be cooked in the lovely kitchen overlooking a magnificent view of the lake is my favorite way to dine when at El Tigre. Add farmer Joe's fresh produce to your menu, particularly the sweetest corn you will ever taste and you'll enjoy an outstanding meal. The antiquing is always fun and nearby Greenport is a lovely town in which to shop and stroll.

  • I was in El Tigre last summer and my definition of the space was Latin Zen. Very nice location, convenient to nice vineyards, organic produce and fresh seafood. The house is brand new and really does not feel like a rental but like a real home. The views from the house are spectacular. Definitely a place to recharge your batteries.

  • El tigre is indeed a magical place. From the moment we entered and saw the moonlight reflecting off the pond from the front door to the restorative naps in the hammock it was the perfect environment for rest and healing. The shops of Greenport and the many wineries nearby provide more than enough activity for outings, but I didn't have to go any further than the back patio overlooking the water to find my favorite spot.

  • I stayed at this property for 2 months a few summers ago and it was the perfect retreat for me and my family. The kids had a blast with the water-front access and family-freindly block, and my wife and I were amazed at just how many things there were for us to do on the North Fork, with or without the kids!! The owner is great and a pleasure to do business with - I would recommend this home to anyone with or without a family - it is the perfect get-away either way!!

  • Tigre is the most amazing place; it has this inexplicable therapeutic effect on everyone who stays there. I have never felt so rested and at home in another place. The views are spectacular, the house is beautiful and yet comfortable and homey. The pond is wonderful to kayak on or swim in. It's so peaceful. The town center is lovely. It's crazy not to jump at this opportunity. I wish that I was able to go back this summer!
