Family lakefront vacationing at its best! Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall, Deep Creek Lake (the state’s largest lake covering 3900 acres) in Maryland’s pristine Appalachian panhandle is a rare and special place for outdoor fun, indoor comfort, and all round relaxation.

The House: Enjoy Carefree Cove’s inspiring lake views, tall trees, secluded “south lake” location, and comfortable accommodations. The property is large (1.1 acres), gently sloping to the lake, and well-landscaped on a quiet cul-de-sac. Comfortably furnished, neat, and clean, this well sited split-level home makes entertaining easy with an updated kitchen, cozy stone fireplace, large decks, outdoor hot-tub, 2 family rooms, pool table, media center, multiple dining areas, fire pits, and grills (gas and charcoal).

The swing set, slide, and waterfront area have clear sight lines from the decks and offer young children safe and fun play areas. The main deck doubles as a basketball half court. Or just stretch out with a good book on the deck or by the fireplace. Rainy days are even fun with the home’s cable/ big screen TV, game room/ pool table, DVD/book/game libraries, and Wi-Fi.

The Lakefront: The property boasts 150 feet of shoreline on the exclusive "24/7 slow wake” Penn Cove. The Class A dock offers an ideal swimming and fishing (small mouth bass and pike) venue in calm, pure lake water, and a slip for your boat.

The Activities: Enjoy nature’s nearby bounty of world class venues to hike, canoe, kayak, water-ski/tube, sail, windsurf, jet ski, boat fish, fly fish, ice fish, rock climb, whitewater raft, bike, hunt, bird-watch, horseback ride, snowshoe, alpine ski, snow-tube, cross-country ski, snow mobile, run, play tennis, and golf. Carefree Cove is but a 10-15 minute drive to Wisp Mountain ski resort (summit height 3115’; 100” of snowfall annually), two golf courses, and the new Adventure Sports Center 1700’ long man-made mountaintop whitewater rafting course, the Deep Creek Lake State Park beach and mountain hiking trails, and “must see” Swallow Falls. Man-made amenities such as historic Oakland with its many antique shops and art galleries; the Arrowhead 6 screen cinema; various mini-golf courses and arcades; fitness clubs; conventional shopping; various fine restaurants; and the world’s best home-made ice cream at the nearby Mountainside Creamery are within this same drive-time radius.

Carefree Cove at Deep Creek Lake is an ideal home for both large family/friends gatherings and small group/couple “get away” vacations. Less than two hours scenic drive from Pittsburgh; less than three hours from Baltimore/Washington. Rentals by the week or non-summer weekend. Enjoy and come back!

ADDITIONAL RENTAL INFORMATION: Carefree Cove is a smoke and pet free environment. Other Charges: 6% Maryland sales tax, 5% Garrett County lodging tax,
a $300 security deposit refundable upon inspection, and $95 linen fee. Half the total charge is required to book the property with the second half following in 30 days.

  • Carefree Cove was absolutely perfect for our family. There was so much room for everyone and it had every amenity that you could want (hot tub, cable, wi-fi, pool table, etc). It was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and we felt right at home. I recommend it highly!

  • For my husband and I, who are long-time summer campers, this house afforded us the opportunity to re-live a little bit of our youth and share some of the joys of summers in New England with our small children. From swimming and boating in the lake, to singing songs around the campfire with smores, to the crystal cool and clear nights with a zillion stars, Deep Creek really brought back some wonderful memories for us. In addition to all that, our children (7, 6 and 2) really enjoyed jumping off the dock, the basketball court on the deck, the built in slide, biking around the lake and much, much, more. The house is warm and inviting and very spacious. There isn't much room for improvement in the amenities and facilities. It’s a very family friendly place. We look forward to going back again soon.

  • Visited Carefree Cove again in August-just can't stay away. It's a home-away-from-home that affords us easy access opportunities to boat, kayak, canoe,swim,hike,ski/snowboard,or just relax on the spacious private deck for a bbq to enjoy the scenery and serenity. We will continue to come back as Carefree Cove has quickly become one of our favorite getaways!

  • We have stayed all over the world at many types of places, and this will remain one of our very favorites. It provided the perfect early summer vacation for our group, which included four 4-year-olds. This clean, well-kept, spacious house is very nicely furnished and wonderfully decorated (think Pottery Barn with authentic vintage accents). The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is fully stocked with cooking equipment, appliances, and storage containers (we especially appreciated the good quality dishes and mugs), and the rec room has a huge TV and videos/dvds. The large decks overlook flowers and plenty of trees, and are perfect for BBQs and eating al fresco, plus the dock is perfect for kayaking and playing. Very quiet neighborhood along a peaceful cove with beautiful sunsets. Also, the house is only a short drive to all the interesting sites of Deep Creek Lake, e.g., the Farmer's Market, Lakeside Creamery, Wisp, Discovery Center, Swallow Falls, and Herrington Cove. We can't wait to go back.

  • We have stayed at Carefree Cove several times across all seasons. It definitely lives up to the name. Spacious, cozy house on a secluded cove that invites you to kick back and relax. Easy access to lake and very convenient to other area attractions such as Wisp, Swallow Falls, grocery and restaurants. A definite favorite. Very Highly Recommended.
