We enjoyed the stay with your house very much. The quiet location, the well equipped and excellently maintained house, and the space that provided everyone with the required privacy was just a perfect match. After a day full of activities this is just the right retreat to relax. The provided links for "things to do" and food were very helpful. We can truly recommend this place to anyone who likes a balance between activity and relaxation in nice surroundings.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We just returned home from a fabulous week at this property. It was everything everyone has said about how wonderful the place is. It is convenient for skiing and still provides solitude for the true getting away feeling. The WiFi and satelite TV allow for you to stay connected if that is a requirement, which it is for us. There are not a lot of resturants in South Fork, so the well appointed kitchen worked well for us. I would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My parents and my family stayed in the cabin over Christmas 2010. We had an unbelievable time. The cabin was amazing. All of the pictures and descriptions do not do the cabin justice. It is very roomy, very comfortable and a great place to stay. It's a short distance to South Fork, only a 1/2 hour to the local ski area and five mintutes to Rickel Park where my young boys spent the week sledding on the little hill. We walked around the property and surrounding hills everyday. We had deer on the hill behind the cabin come right up one afternoon. We will return to South Fork during a different season, Spring maybe, and will stay at this cabin again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Just a fantastic well appointed home. Away from the lights of the city, so dark and clear at night one can litereally see the Milky Way. Fishing is uncrowded at the clubhouse or drive in any direction to your own private fishing spot. We caught a 16" Rainbow within the first few minutes of fishing right in front of the clubhouse. Caught so many Brookies at a nearby stream, we finally quit counting. Lots of wildlife all around. We saw deer, antelope, and coyotes within the subdivision.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

"We are just back from our stay at your beautiful log home. It was everything the VRBO listing stated it would be and more! The drive to and from the Ski Resort was beautiful and the location of your home was distant enough to offer privacy, while not being totally secluded. We had a wonderful time. I forgot to mention in my earlier e-mail the pretty little bluebird that took up residence on your deck, much to the delight of our two toddlers! It was very brave and didn't fly away even during their squeals of laughter. What a great entertainer he turned out to be. And we all enjoyed watching the mule deer make their trek up and down the mountain each morning and afternoon."Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

"We had such a wonderful time this weekend and enjoyed staying at your lovely home. Thank you for all the info to make our stay the most comfortable it could be. We hope to return to Wolf Creek at least one more trip this ski season and will most certainly check your house for availability first. Thanks again"Did you find this review helpful? "Everything at your house was just as you described - top notch. We had no problems with directions or getting into the house upon our arrival. The house was very clean and everything worked fine. And we all enjoyed watching some Blu-ray DVDs on the home theater setup - quite impressive! Thanks again. If available, we will contact you about renting the house when we come back to South Fork this summer."Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2008
About the owner: I grew up in the Midwest and moved out west after college. The color, beauty and majesty of the Rocky Mountains have always been an attraction to me. This home's location makes this part of the Rockies easy to explore and hope my guests will enjoy it as well.
Why the Owner Chose South Fork:
Access to miles of Gold Medal rated trout fishing on the Rio Grande River, the golf course, great recreation, fitness and other facilities at the Rio Grande Club, the beauty of the many trails around the continental divide Rocky Mountains and access to skiing without lift lines at Wolf Creek - the ski resort that gets the most snow in Colorado, are why I chose to buy this vacation home. I also like the location's proximity for day trips to spiritual places like Crestone and entertainment and other features in Creede, Pagosa Springs, Durango and other nearby cities.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Being on 8.3 acres, the area and adjoining the National Forest affords privacy and being away from the crowds. This and the altitude enable a beautiful starry night sky that is clearest I've ever seen. The home theater setup is also a unique feature and benefit of the property.
