Our stay at Kona Reef was wonderful. The condo is well equipped with all you need for a lengthy stay. The condo was on the top floor which made it possible to feel safe while leaving windows and patio door open to enjoy the breeze all evening. The property is very well maintained and managed and the location of the condo is perfect for easy access to the beach, the downtown area, restaurants and shopping. We will definitely return! Thank you!

We stayed in this condo for over a month during the period from December 2011 to January 2012. Everything was exactly as presented on the VRBO web page and the owner was very helpful and accommodating. Staying in this condo is like having your own home away from home in paradise. In addition to all the things that make your vacation more pleasant and easier such as a good wifi connection, a dishwasher, an icemaker in the refrigerator, and many small appliances, the owner has provided many other things that you don’t often seen in a rental. The kitchen is fully equipped to prepare your meals if you like and includes things like a Dutch oven so you can cook pasta, measuring cups and spoons, a full set of knives for cutting and chopping. There are condiments in the refrigerator and spices in the pantry. Having a washer and dryer means you can bring less clothes and the owner has thoughtfully provided a drying rack on the lanai so that you can hang wet bathing suits and towels after a day at the beach or a dip in the pool and hot tub. The condo also has beach towels, chairs and coolers for excursions to the beach. As many have already mentioned, it’s a short walk into the centre of town where there are many restaurants if you don’t feel like cooking your own dinner. We ate breakfast and dinner on the lanai every day, often bringing takeout for dinner from one of the restaurants in town. Although there is a beautiful flat screen TV in the living room, we never turned it on once, preferring to sit on the lanai in the evenings having our dinner, listening to the waves and reliving our adventures on this beautiful island. The condo complex is very well landscaped and maintained and is very quiet. The barbecues near the pool are a great feature and we barbecued often while we were there. We used the pool and the hot tub every day, often after a day at the beach. We hadn’t even finished our stay this time around before we contacted the owner about booking our vacation for 2012-13. We loved this condo and we’re looking forward to going back in December.
Owner response:We celebrate when our guests have the ability to feel soooo at home! It is always so delightful for us to hear about the adventures, time of rest and rejuvenation, and picturing our guests sitting on the lanai and relaxing into those ocean breezes and views! You are WELCOME any time! Mahalo Debi

The location was great, could walk everywhere and not too far. Very quiet, mostly older community. Very nice having laundry in the unit. The shower could use some updating, but I would definitely stay here again and have already suggested it to my other friends.
Owner response:Glad you enjoyed your stay ... and that you are telling your friends about our place! You are welcomed back Any Time!

Prime location. Walking distance to shops and restuarants. We were amazed by the views from the living room and lanai. The pool and the grounds were beautiful. A truly great value. The owners were great to work with. Would definitely come back.
Owner response:Thanks Andrew -- SO delighted that you were able to thoroughly enjoy the condo and the beautiful surroundings and incredible views! You are WELCOME to return any time! We, too, love the views and the simple access to Kailua and the beach!

We spent 10 nights here in Sept. and loved every minute of it. The condo has EVERYTHING you could need in it, including a comfy recliner chair. So when do you EVER get comfortable seating in a rental? The kitchen had the basic spices and stuff that you hate to buy while on vacation. The bed was just right. Cannot believe what care they take of the pool and BBQ's. I would get up before the sun was even up and sit on the lanai with my coffee and watch them already working. They take those BBQ's apart every single day and clean them within an inch of their lives! Loved the view from the lanai and the grass in front of the beach for sitting. Spent every single afternoon at the pool. Honestly we didn't stray too far this trip. We were content to spend lots of time at the condo. We did go on the Fairwind II for a snorkel cruise, however, and it was great fun. Dolphins and flying fish! We really had a fantastic time and would come here again in a heart beat. The owners are fantastic and answer every question immediately. Thank you for such a wonderful place to stay.
Owner response:We are delighted that you were able to relax and enjoy yourself SO WELL in our home! We agree with you about the immaculate grills! It is always so nice to know that those grills are always ready to fire up! I am glad that you found our responsiveness to your questions to be so helpful! Let us know when you are ready to come back to Kona!

This was our second vacation staying at this property. The owners are the nicest people in the world and I can not imagine a nicer couple to work with. Their condo is clean and comfortable and I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else when in Kona for a vacation. The bed is very comfortable, kitchen is well stocked and being an end unit, the condo has a nice breeze flowing through it at all times. As always, the pool is one of the nicest pools and pool areas that we've ever been in. We love all of the beautiful tropical plants and flowers that add to your experience. We also love the grass lawn along the beach as well as the easy beach access. We enjoy walking on the lava and watching the waves in the morning and on this trip we saw multiple green sea turtles (honu in Hawaiian). They are so amazing and we didn't even need to leave our condo to see them. We will DEFINITELY stay here again. We are already saving and planning for our next vacation to Kona.
Owner response:Michelle, We delight in knowing that you thoroughly enjoy your time in our Kona home ... and that you are able to relax and feel right at home when you are there. Those turtles will be waiting to see you again when you return! Thank you for your kind expressions -- you are appreciated.

We stayed at the condo for 9 days in May and had a wonderful time. The pictures and the description were accurate. The owner was very helpful and prompt in answering my questions about amenities, etc. We loved the balcony with its wonderful view of the ocean and the ocean breeze. We enjoyed seing the paddle boarders, kayaks, and parasailers. The condo was very well supplied with anything we needed for our visit. We especially appreciated the cooler, blue ice, and beach supplies, little things but which made our side trips so easy. I loved sitting down by the ocean in the mornings. The town with all the restaurants was so easy to reach by walking. I'm hoping we can return here again.
Owner response:So happy that you enjoyed your stay! Let me know when those waves and ocean breezes are calling your names again!

My wife and I can not express enough how much we enjoyed our stay at this Condo. The view of the ocean and pool is spectacular and we enjoyed our meals and cocktails on the balcony. The location to all the activities in Kona was great as we were within walking distance to resturants, Luau, boat crusies, shopping, etc. This was a great way to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. If our travel plans take us back to Hawaii this is the place we would like to return to.

This property lives up to it's reputation. Everything you could want with a top-floor ocean view in a great complex that is walking distance to town. You can even go to sleep at night listening to the sound of the waves. What more could you want? And, the owner is a pleasure to deal with and responds quickly.

Oh my goodness, I can't say enough good about this condo and the owners. To say that they were a pleasure to work with would be an understatement. The condo was incredibly clean. I'm convinced it's one of the best condos on this property. Because it's an end unit, it has side windows and because it's a top floor, you can safely keep windows opened up when you are gone for ventilation. It is a short walk to restaurants and shops (Don't miss Huggos on the Rock and Bubba Gump)as well, so there is no need to concern yourself with finding parking in Kona. My favorite two aspects of staying here were the pool and watching the waves. Whether you sit on the lanai or down on the lawn to watch the waves, it doesn't matter... it's perfect paradise! The pool is probably the nicest, cleanest, most well maintained pool that I've ever seen or swam in. Honestly... it was perfect and we swam every day of our 16 day vacation. We loved this condo, thoroughly enjoyed working with the owners and will DEFINITELY stay here next time we go to Hawaii. It was the perfect location for our vacation. THANK YOU for sharing your home with us!!!!!!!!

You won't be disappointed! Clean, well maintained unit in a very nice oceanfront complex, a 5 minute walk south from downtown. Due to physical layout (top floor physically separated from adjacent unit lanai) all windows and the lanai door can be left open 24/7 without worry. Resulting airflow a distinct advantage over most of the other units within the complex. Kitchen is well appointed to entertain for those that wish to cook in for their stay. The prices at Costco are the same as stateside. Four large stainless barbacues are cleaned daily by the staff for guest use. Sunsets on the beachfront lawn are picture perfect. The big island is our favorite with this our third visit, diversity and abundance of activites without the gridlock one finds on Oahu and Maui. The water is also warmer and clearer on the Kona coast than elsewhere within the islands. Plenty of uncrowded beaches to explore.

I am a frequent Kona visitor and stayed in this lovely condo for week and was really happy with it for numerous reasons. First, it was clean & well-appointed(kitchen, linens, beach chairs etc.) Second, the owner was a pleasure to deal with. Third, the complex was spotless & just a quick walk out of town. Parking in any town is never fun, so walking distance condos are key. If you like to have cocktails at a favorite place in town (Hugo's), you are in luck. Intelligently leave the car behind and walk. The pebble-paved salt water pool & hot tub, BBQ facilities were new & wonderfully maintained. There is a nice wide strip of lawn with chairs were just outside the pool area. It was popular for the surfers. Ample underground parking was close by and shade for the car was nice. The other residents/visitors were quiet and courteous. Fourth, the top-corner location, windows & two ceiling fans allowed me to keep the lanai doors open for the fresh breeze, sunset and sound of the surf. I didn't need AC even in the Kona warmth. I kept the side-window vertical blinds at an angle for perfect privacy & air flow. In the bedroom I left one window closed at night to block out any car honks in off in the distance. The ceiling fan and other window allowed for great sleep. The bedroom and living room & kitchen are separated - great for different sleep schedules. Fifth, having a washer & dryer in the unit was wonderful. I just needed a carry-on. The other appliances/electronics (WiFi, dishwasher, disposal, refrigerator, blender, cd player, toaster, modern stove etc. kept me on the lanai or at the beach and not stressing in the kitchen. Finally, the decor was so island home-like that I felt as though a good friend lent me their place and thoughtfully set it up for me. I plan on trying to book this great condo for my future trips.

We enjoyed this very nice condo for 5 weeks in June & July in 2007. We found it to be quite comfortable and felt at home. All of the amenities were just wonderful and the views were the best overlooking the pool & ocean. Walking to town was a breeze. The BBQ area was very clean & easy to use. We will be going back for 5 weeks in this same unit in 2009.
