Great place to stay. Filled with charm. If you take a taxi from the bus or train station make sure to pre negotiate the fare. It shouldn't be more than 350cz. The location is fabulous and very secure and safe. The tram is easy to use and is just a very short distance from the apartment. The Castle is an all day excursion. Dress warm if it isn't warm outside. I would definitely stay there again.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed 5 nights in this wonderful apartment and were thoroughly in love with it. The location, by the Charles Bridge, is excellent with its small stores, a beach with ducks, antique shops, parks, cafes, bakeries, and even a local wine bar. We enjoyed a food and wine festival in the park over the weekend. The apartment itself is hundreds of years of old, but has modern amenities. The bath and kitchen are totally remodeled and are perfectly appointed. The apartment is decorated with antiques, including fabulous chandeliers. The ceilings in the bedroom are log beams that are hundreds of years old. The windows are filled with geraniums in window boxes and open onto a courtyard and a small interesting street. From the wallpaper, to the decorative pieces on the walls, to the antique woodwork, the apartment speaks of old world charm. Robin helped us with every request, including airport, train, and taxi assistance. We dined at several of the restaurants and cafes which Robin suggested and we were thoroughly please with all. We loved the neighbor and felt very safe. There are 3 doors to open to get to the apartment! It is quite fun to open the huge, antique exterior door and walk out onto the street, just as you had lived there forever! Location, assistance, charm, beauty. What else could one ask for? Thanks Lucie & Robin, myself and Greg had a wonderful time in Prague, your apartment is beautiful and in a great location. It only took us 30 mins from the Airport to the apartment, a very simple commute on very efficient and cheap public transport. There are plenty of great bars and restaurants close by, everything was perfect! Prague is stunning, we will be back!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This apartment is fully updated, but still retains its old world charm. The bedroom is so quiet and I hadn't slept that well in years. To wake up and overlook the germaniums in the window boxes to the quaint cobblestone street below was a sheer delight. The location is convenient and walking distance to all of the major tourist attractions, as well as many restaurants. We actually found the best service and food at the beer garden just a half a block up the hill from here on our last night. Robin arranged for a taxi pick to and from the airport. I highly recommend this service as well as this apartment.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I stayed here for five nights. We had a spectacular time! The apartment is in a neighborhood with great character and is within walking distance of all major attractions (there is a metro station one block away as well). Robin is very friendly and accommodating . . . he was also prompt in response to any questions. The apartment is beautifully renovated, yet retains its old world charm. I researched a lot of Prague rentals, and the location of this one cannot be matched!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Awesome! Robin has done an outstanding job renovating and furnishing this space. It rained a few of the afternoons while I was here and the sitting area in the bedroom was perfect for sipping coffee and reading a novel. If you have not yet been to Prague, don't miss it and stay here! The combination is perfect. I hope to come back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The apartment is in a 500 year old building but it has all the modern amenities. A small fireplace in the bedroom. Charming. Washer/dryer, fridge, stove, dishwasher, utensils, etc. are provided. The bathroom is very modern. Two big windows in front open onto the street. Charming. Two in the back open to a quiet courtyard. Very secure. Three locked doors to get into the apartment. But the important thing is location, location, location. Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, Jewish Quarter, Bohemia Bagel, organic grocery (small), and metro station, are all just a few minutes away. Charming. Even Wenceslas Square is within easy walking distance. Robin was very courteous and went out of his way to assist us with our needs. On a side note, if you are bringing a stroller, bring a sturdy one with big tires. Cobblestones. Even the sidewalks. Did I say charming?Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We just spent 4 nights at this apartment and it was perfect. The building itself is charming and if you walk around to the back you will find the only "beach" in Prague! Lovely to sit on the benches, feed the swans, ducks, etc. We walked everywhere, even to the castle (yes, it's all uphill but worth the effort). I really can't add anything else to the other reviews. We did have some commumication issues but none that weren't resolved. Book it!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our family (2 adults, 3 small kids) just got back from a 2-night stay at The Charles. This was the 4th different European city in which we've used VRBO.com. The other rental units have been good, but this one was extra special. The location is incredible - a few minutes walk from the Charles Bridge. We drove into Prague, so the free on-site parking was very important to us, and it worked out great. The apartment was very clean, and if you are fan of architecture, you'll love the exposed timber ceilings, the 500-year-old wood flooring and the curved doorframe entering the bedroom. All the rooms are finished very nicely, and the kitchen is well appointed to handle all meals. I would not recommend the apartment for 5 large people (it did work for us because our kids are small), but up to 4 shouldn't be a problem. The price is fair, the neighborhood is very safe, and we will try to stay here again if we make a return trip to Prague.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at the Charles Apartment for 4 nights in September, 2011. Getting the rental arranged was extremely easy since Robin is a native English speaker, was quick to respond to emails, takes a deposit by PayPal, and was very accommodating when we needed to change our dates (he keeps the availability calendar up to date). The Charles Apartment is only a 5 minute walk from a Metro station, only 15 minutes from the train station, and 30 minutes from the airport; no need to take a cab (as long as you aren't carrying a ridiculously sized suitcase). Robin met us at the agreed time and checked us in quickly. Apartment is exactly as described; smallish one-bedroom, well decorated, and modern bathroom. Even a washing machine! WiFi worked perfectly too. Only one flight of stairs. Check out is easy too; since Robin does not hold a damage deposit, we simply dropped the key in the mailbox on our way out the door. Location of the Charles Apartment is ideal for exploring Prague for a few days. Just 5 minutes walk to the Charles Bridge, a steep 15 minutes or so up to the castle, or about 30 minutes all the way to the main square (or take the metro). Lots of good restaurants in the area and several stores, all described in the material conveniently provided in the apartment. But the location is very quiet, with very little traffic noise. Just to be fair, there are a few very minor negatives. If you're not used to European sized apartments it might seem small. Although the ad says 4 could stay here, you'd have to be really close friends! A few minor maintenance issues. The THREE double locking doors to get in or out are frustrating. None of these issues are any reason not to stay here, and none significant enough to drop our rating below 5 stars. We would stay here again.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

Overall the apartment was very adequate for our needs. Perfectly located to visit all of Prague's major sights on foot. (Charles Bridge quite close by). It was a bit small for family of 4, yes...but clean and comfortable and very nicely kept up. Robin was very helpful and helped set up pickup from the airport for us. I would use the apartment agan when & if I am in Prague again...especially if only with my wif and the kids are left home! Thanks.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

After several emails back and forth with Robin, we (me, my wife and 21 yr. old son) decided to stay at The Charles for 4 nights. We were very happy with our choice. Our taxi driver at the airport was easy to find and took us straight to the apartment. The location is great for all major sites worth walking to. Robin met us at the apartment and read us in on all the instructions and gave us great restaurant recommendations. Our only critique (reason for not being 5 Stars), which we have already been assured by Robin will be addressed, was the lack of bed linens for pillows, and the general tired condition of the linens. He has likely already replaced them. The bathroom is modern and very beautiful. The apartment is nicely renovated with great old world touches in a building that is several hundred years old. It is not a huge place so remaking the convertible sofa each day is necessary to really move around if it is in use. We would definitely stay again and would recommend it to friends visiting Prague. Robin was pleasant (fluent in English) and very helpful.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Tucked away on a quiet street, only a very short walk from the metro and Charles Bridge, this apartment is truly a treasure. Robin has renovated it beautifully - adding a modern kitchen and shower, even WI-FI and a laptop while preserving the unique elegant touches of historic Prague. We loved coming back to this cozy comfortable apartment at the end of a long day sightseeing and will definitely rent it again when we come back to Prague.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My mother and I stayed here in November of 2010 for 2 weeks. The place is very small but for the price you can't beat it. My mom stayed in the bedroom while I slept on the hideaway bed. We were both very comfortable. Robin was very helpful with any questions and concerns. The apartment had everything we needed and there was a nice market within walking distance to buy groceries. The location is excellent! I would recommend this property to anyone. It was was of the best vacations we have ever been on.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I arrived with my daughter and her friend to the Prague Train station looking for the taxi driver that Lucie (manager of the property) had arranged to pick us up. Forty five minutes later and several phone calls to Lucie, a nice man arrived in a tiny car that was barely able to fit the three of us and our luggage charging us 450 Crown. We arrived at the property, where we met Lucie who let us in and showed us around, which took no time at all because the apt was soooo tiny! My daughter and I shared the queen sized bed but barley had space to put our luggage on the floor. My daughters friend slept on the sofa bed which was so uncomfortable she could hardley sleep. The location of the apt was good, it was close to all the sites and was right across the street from a beautiful park. We tried to contact Lucie again, as we had a question and she did not reply. We arranged for our own taxi to the train station upon our departure and was charged 180 crown for the same distance we paid 450 and did not have to wait and had room for our luggage. Overall, I would only recommend this apt for two persons who share the same bed, and make your own taxi reservations!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: 1. Lucie no longer manages nor lets people in to the apt. (though she was well received most of the time incidentally) and in response to this -- 2. We've bettered the sofa-bed in the L.R. It's now more comfortable. 3. I spoke with this transport agency and they lowered their price from the train station. 4. By definition 3 people sharing a 1-bedroom apt. -and 3 individual guests as it is here, even more so- involves some compromise (not to mention that homes and apts. are generally much smaller in Europe than in the U.S.). Actually, here I had assumed the renter was entirely aware that they were 'pushing the envelope' of the apt.'s capacity. 5. Ultimately, we can not be fully responsible for how the guests transport themselves to the apt. The enjoyment and comfort of our guests is very important to us. It perturbs me that the circumstances went awry in this case. But mistakes do happen sometimes.
