Spend a romantic vacation in this lovingly restored and spacious 17th century apartment in the heart of the Marais. Our home offers a comfortable and warm place to come back to after exploring the beauty of Paris, and plenty of space to plan your next day in this magical city. It blends old-world charm with modern amenities for truly the best of both worlds! Fully renovated, you can unwind with a long soak in the oversized tub with mosaic tile - enjoy an espresso at the kitchen counter - or have an evening meal of cheese, bread and fruit from the many local food purveyors.
This location is perfect for foodies like us - with 3 bakeries within 2 blocks, cheese shops, butchers, organic food markets and a twice weekly farmers market steps away at the Bastille. Also we can walk to the Seine for summer sunsets in about 5 minutes, and be at the metro in 2 minutes. Place Des Vosges around the corner is an added bonus!
Especially comfortable as a base from which to explore the neighborhood and the city, there are many places in this apartment to relax. The living area features a modern sofa with antique chairs that have been reupholstered with fabrics from the top French designer, Lelievre. A full-size dining table can accommodate whatever meals you wish to prepare or bring in, or offers a space to simply spread out your guide books and maps to plan the next day's sightseeing. Barstools originally designed for a bar near Strasbourg sit at the kitchen counter, if you prefer to just make a cappuccino or a cup of tea.
The bathroom is a true rarity in Paris - equipped with double sinks as well as separate shower and tub areas. A couple can easily and comfortably get ready for the day, and small infants can be cared for easily by their parents. And when you return, if your feet are sore from miles of walking the beautiful streets of Paris, the tub fills quickly with piping hot water for a relaxing soak (we even provide some treats to add to your bath!)
Both the living area and the bedroom are on a corner of a courtyard, so you hear no street noise despite the amazing location in the heart of the Marais! The bedroom features Alexandre Turpault linen/cotton sheets, and finished built-in closets to keep your things organized during your stay. Electrical switches have been designed so you can easily read from bed and turn off the lights, or plug in your own MP3 players from home.
The kitchen features a gas range, a dishwasher, a full size refrigerator and a stock of French cookware if you want to be bold and try to recreate any of the delicious foods you have found in your travels. We also provide a well-equipped tea corner and espresso bar, where you can make your own cappuccino or have a cup of tea.
Free calls to the US, Canada, Australia and EU fixed lines are included, as is wireless internet and cable TV. We also offer you a loaner cellphone with a French SIM card and a courtesy printer to use for boarding passes and reservations. Extraordinary open-air market at Place de la Bastille every Thursday and Sunday. Produce, Cheeses, Fresh Fish and more for the real parisians in the neighborhood. Not to be missed!
I short walk from the apartment, stroll across the Seine to Ile St Louis. Picnic along the banks of the river at sunset (as late as 10pm in the summer!)... window-shop... or eat world-famous Berthillon ice cream at their flagship shop on the island.

Excellent apartment in marvelous Marais district; wonderful home away from home in Paris!

Just returned from a wonderful 4 day, 5 night getaway to Paris with my mother (a senior). Our stay at Alexis' wonderful apartment in the Marais district met all of our needs - great location for walking to everything we wanted to see in the heart of Paris, well equipped apartment, easy rental process, and a cozy place to land at the end of a long day, with more amenities than a hotel room. The Marais district offers wonderful shopping, restaurants, Place des Vosges and market day on Thursdays and Sundays at the Bastille. We felt safe and at home in this neighbourhood, buying our groceries and living the life of Paris for a few days. Alexis made the experience seamless and warm. Although not there in person, Alexis' thoughtfulness and attention to detail made it feel like she was there as your host, from initial contact right with information and answers, through the booking and arrival process. Throughout the apartment, there are notes on how to use appliances, tourist books, restaurant reviews, nice soaps & coffee. All nice touches that make the rental feel more like you are staying in the home of a good friend. The apartment is spacious, peaceful, practical and well equipped... from the kitchen, to the glorious tub/shower in the bathroom, and lovely linens on the beds. Four large windows open to an inner court yard, bringing light into the apartment. Walking around Paris, my mother and I enjoyed the shopping, people watching, the history and architecture. We made good use of the batobus - as a rest for the weary feet, as we hopped on and off at various stops to see different things in Paris. A day trip to Monet's garden in Giverny was a special treat. Thank you Alexis for sharing your wonderful apartment in Paris. My husband and I have rented apartments/villas in the past for travel with our family. It always requires an element of trust... for both renter (not knowing what to expect) and the apartment owner (will they take good care?). Anyone who chooses your apartment, will not be disappointed. Your warmth and attentive approach to the rental process was very much appreciated, and the quality of the apartment was great. Will be back in the future with my husband. Paris - so much to see & enjoy; so little time. Mother, daughter from Canada Spring 2012

We spent 3 weeks in this Paris apartment and LOVED it! The space is even larger than it appears in the photos. It is a luxury apartment with a complete kitchen, comfortable bed and sofa bed, spacious dining area, and a large bathroom with a huge tub and refreshing shower. The location is ideal for exploring Paris. it is close to 2 metro stops. The 69 bus ( which is one of the top 3 bus routes in the world! ) is right outside the door as are buses with other routes. We were joined by our daughter ( in her 20's ) for half our vacation. She love the clothing ( Chattawak, Etam ) and shoe shops (Camper ) that were so close by. We had great fun riding the hop on hop off bateau bus ( an easy walk, by Notre Dame ) which is 15 euros for one day, 18 for 2, and 21 for 5 days! We were so close to 3 of Paris' top pastry shops, Gerard Mulot, Eric Kayser, and Le Ble Sucre that we indulged in special desserts every day as well as bread and croissants. The apartment is near grocery stores, cheese shops, fruit and vegetable markets, and wine stores. It's a straight line to get to the Louvre. The Place des Vosges with its lovely green space is just around the corner. The apartment was ideal, close to everything, quiet, comfortable, and clean. The owner was a delight to correspond with making us feel like friends. We can hardly wait to return!

I've lived in the UK for a few years and have been dying to go to the continent (haven't been to Paris since I was a kid)! "I need to get away!" was my mantra. The moment I walked into the flat, I knew I'd come to the place to restore my soul (you'll see the Hugo quotation on the wall...) The flat is just a few blocks from the Bastille metro stop and a few feet from the St Paul stop. You can literally walk anywhere - and if you get tired, you can take the Metro. My favourite place in Paris now is the Place de Vosges - just around the block. It's a beautiful square with restaurants, shops, a school, and a garden in the middle. The owner provides detailed instructions for everything - from how to work the washing machine and cappuccino machine, to how late the local stores are open. The bed was really comfortable and the bedroom was perfect. Since it was winter when I visited - and I walked everywhere - I spent most of my evenings in the soaking tub. It was fabulous. I felt restored, refreshed, and utterly happy the entire time I was there. I'm dying to go back. It's a great value, a great apartment, and wonderful, accomodating, welcoming landlord.

My husband and 7 year old daughter and I stayed here for nearly a week--we loved it! The space was large enough for us to spread out and be comfortable, unlike the hotels we stayed in on past visits. The apartment was in the perfect location for sightseeing AND living like a local. Despite being on a busy street, the apartment was nice and quiet. The owner treated us like an extension of her family, providing us with helpful suggestions for dining and sightseeing. All amenities were top notch, including a washer/dryer, relaxing tub, wifi, fully stocked kitchen... Without a doubt, staying here made out trip truly a vacation.

My husband and I chose to stay at this property for our first trip to Paris. We were very nervous about what we would find on our arrival since we knew next to nothing about the neighborhood. We were so pleasantly surprised!! The apartment was AMAZING! It was even better than the pictures! I couldn't believe how spacious it was and the bathroom was great too! Everything was very clean and well kept and the kitchen has everything you need to cook a lovely French meal! The location could not have been better! There are two metro stops within close walking distance and many bus stops too. There are also numerous restaurants and shops very close by. The owners have literally thought of EVERYTHING possible to make the stay as comfortable and "homey" as possible. Alexis was so helpful throughout the whole process and gave us lots of info about things to do/places to eat around the area. We would love to return again in the future!! Look no further if you want an amazing place to spend your Paris getaway!

The minute we walked into Alexis' appartment, we knew we had made a great choice. Large and airy, it is a delightful mix of the traditional and modern, beautifully decorated and with all the amenities you could need. Everywhere you look, there are lovely decorative touches which demonstrate the owner's good taste. The larger-than-average bathroom, with its big tub, separate shower and double sinks, felt like that of a luxury hotel. The small but modern open-plan kitchen enabled us to attend to our two-and-half-year old's needs from breakfast through dinner. Venturing outside, all the necessities are right on your doorstop, from ATMs, a bureau de change, a pharmacy, local food stores, a butcher, a Monoprix supermarket open til 10pm, lovely restaurants and a range of boutique stores. Although not expensive, it feels like an up-market area. Just around the corner is the historic Place des Vosges which was the perfect place for our son to let off steam on its see-saws, slide, climbing frames and sand boxes. Another advantage is the appartment's close proximity to Saint Paul metro station, which, being on line 1, gives direct access to many of Paris' main attractions, including the Rue de Rivoli, Chatelet-les-Halles, the Louvre, the Jardins des Tuileries, Place de la Concorde and La Defense. Alexis was the perfect host, making us feel confident before we booked that we were in the hands of someone who cared about our needs and making sure while we were there that we knew how everything worked and the best places to go. We had no complaints whatsover about this appartment and have already recommended it to friends and family. It was the ideal location to celebrate our wedding anniversary and my wife's birthday and we will certainly be back the next time we visit Paris!

The apartment was just as described online. Close to bakeries and cafe's and fresh-food markets. There is also a real grocery store very close (west of the apartment a block or two, downstairs in the Monoprix) so you can stock up the frig in the flat. The subway stop (Bastille) is a very close walk. However, we chose to walk to the River Seine, Notre Dame, Saint Chapelle, and the St. Michael Fountain, which are great destinations for Paris first-timers, like us. The bathroom was fabulous. The tub was a great escape after a long day of walking. The kitchen was well outfitted with new dishes and nice cookware. The dining area and family rooms were great places to gather with your fellow travelers. Our two kids made themselves at home reading on the couch and floor rug. The bedroom was cozy, nice and warm. Nice to read in bed as you wind down your day. If you have more than two people in your party be aware that the bedroom door has a glass pane in it which may detract from your privacy between the bedroom and living room. Over all – super experience. We’d choose this place again when we come back!

A joy to stay in this apartment. Exactly as advertised. My husband and I stayed 5 nights in mid-January 2012 for a birthday celebration. The location is wonderful as a neighborhood and perfect for getting anywhere in Paris. The Metro was so convenient we took it everywhere. It's a great walking neighborhood, there are interesting shops, including very high end dress shops and galleries, as well as many small museums nearby. The owner is a pleasure to deal with; all the arrangements were handled promptly and well, instructions were clear and complete, recommendations were spot on every time. There are so many intriguing markets, cheese shops, wine shops, and patisseries within just a few blocks, and it's especially nice to have the little market by the front door open late at night. You couldn't miss having a wonderful time in Paris with this as your home away from home.

We stayed at this apartment for eight nights in October 2011 (three women 55+). The owner was very helpful from our first inquiry many months in advance, and the whole process was well-organised. The description and pictures in the listing gave an accurate impression of the apartment. We found the living area and bathroom spacious, and even the sofa bed was very comfortable - not a common experience! Above all we loved the location, which made it easy to get to all our favourite places in Paris.

We stayed for a quick weekend getaway, and the apartment was exactly as described and perfect as a home base to get around and to relax at the end of the day. The owners have thought of everything a guest could need, from the multiple guide books, to the extra pillows, blankets and towels, to the espresso machine with packs ready to go, to the printer for printing tickets and boarding passes. The apartment is beautifully furnished and very relaxing. And the neighborhood, of course, is a great jumping off point for seeing Paris -- easy walking distance to many popular tourist sites, around the corner from Place des Vosges, and on the 1 line with easy access to the whole city when you don't feel like walking any more. I've stayed in a couple of apartments before in Paris, and this was the nicest I've come across. I look forward to coming back.
