Location: Beverly Shores, Indiana, USA (One Hour from Chicago and South Bend Airports)

Accommodations:  House, 7 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 4 Baths (Sleeps 14-18)

Beautiful and spacious home in the heart of the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore Park, an hour's drive from downtown Chicago. Invite friends and family to visit by train (how civilized!), as the South Shore Line is less than a mile away. Lake Michigan is a short walk through the woods. Enjoy birdwatching in the Great Marsh at the foot of the hill. There are endless walks in the woods, biking and cross-country skiing in this natural part of the world, so different from the nearby city.

The house is large, and for those who like to cook, the kitchen is well-equipped with anything you might need. The seven queen-sized beds are comfortable as are the down comforters. This is our home away from home and we take pride in its details. We are environmentally-minded and appreciate composting, recycling, using cloth kitchen towels, and a minimum carbon footprint whenever possible. Well-behaved pets are welcome with an additional security deposit.

We encourage biking and have enough bikes for eight to ten adults, plus extras for kids. The morning paper is less than a mile's ride away. Nearby Chesterton, IN offers great antiquing while Michigan City boasts a real outlet mall (people come from far away) and a great brewpub, the Shoreline Brewery.

Beverly Shores is nestled within twenty-two miles of National Lakeshore. If you are looking for a nature-based, hiking getaway close to the city (on a clear day one can easily see Chicago's distinctive skyline across the water) this is the place for you. Enjoy all the comforts and luxuries of a modern home after your day hike. Enjoy the intimacy of the deserted beaches close to the house - car parking is forbidden so walking and biking access only means you have these beaches to yourself. The beach is a 10 minute walk through the woods, 4/10ths of a mile away.

This national park has the second greatest biodiversity of all national parks in the country. You will be within a natural wooded and peaceful setting with many half-day hikes to keep a family occupied for a week. If you prefer a day in the city take the South Shore Line to the Loop for the day. You can even get off the train close to the Museum of Science and Industry.
