Enjoy the convenience and privacy of an apartment and the hospitality of a bed and breakfast. Located on the grounds of a Victorian farmhouse and surrounded by over 150 acres of pastures and woods in the heart of the Berkshires, this sunny, cheerful apartment is on the first floor of a converted 19th century post & beam barn. The newly renovated apartment features a fully equipped kitchen with new appliances, living room with sliding doors opening to private deck, two bedrooms, and two full bathrooms (tub in shower).
The deck offers beautiful views and provides a place to dine outdoors in the warm weather. For the garden lover, a stroll through the perennial gardens offers an opportunity for contemplation. There are plenty of easy walking and hiking trails just outside your door and more challenging ones just a few minutes away by car.
A local swimming hole, a few yards away on the pristine Williams River, is a great place to cool off after a day of summer activities. For those interested in water sports, there are plenty of opportunities for boating and kayaking.
During the winter, the surrounding hills are blanketed with snow and beckon you to ski or snowboard; the Butternut and Catamount resorts are only minutes away, and Jiminy Peak is just a 45-minute drive north. If you prefer a more relaxed approach to winter activities, sledding down the hill behind the barn or ice skating on nearby Lake Mansfield is a great way to build up your appetite for hot chocolate or mulled cider.
Great Barrington is a thriving small town which boasts a number of fine restaurants, a movie theater and the newly restored Mahaiwe Theatre. An afternoon stroll through town will undoubtedly include browsing in the eclectic mix of shops and perhaps a stop at the local ice cream parlor. For those with an interest in pursuing cultural activities, Tanglewood, Norman Rockwell Museum, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, Edith Wharton House, Shakespeare & Co., Berkshire Theatre Festival, Hancock Shaker Village, and the Clark Museum are just a sampling of offerings. Antiquing is another favorite activity for visitors to the area.
Those guests staying for three nights or more will be greeted by a basket of freshly baked goodies. Depending on the season, you may also enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables grown in our garden. We are pleased to offer advice regarding local attractions and restaurants. We assure you that you will have a memorable stay in the Berkshires!

Owner Description

Having spent many years living in Manhattan and the surrounding suburbs, we moved to the Berkshires in 2003. We decided that it would be a great place to raise our son and to experience the slower-paced country life. After renting a house in Lenox for a couple of years, we finally found what we were looking for - a rambling Victorian farmhouse. We chose Great Barrington because of its proximity to the many attractions of the Berkshires including ski resorts, cultural activities and an eclectic mix of restaurants (some of which rival the best in Manhattan). It also gives us of easy access to the larger cities such as Albany, Boston and NYC. We have our own consulting business so we are able to work at home and make every effort to ensure our guests to have a memorable time while staying with us in the Berkshires. Best, Abigail & Julien McKee

We just had a delightful stay at this apartment. We were visiting Great Barrington for a family reunion and wanted a place to stay where we could have time to ourselves and some privacy. We know the area quite well and have to say that it is located in one of the nicest and most convenient parts of the town (only about 2 miles from Main Street). The accommodations worked very well for us since each bedroom has its own bathroom and we could have two of our grandchildren stay with us overnight while we were there. The views from the back deck are picture-perfect with open pasture and woods beyond. The owners are just across the driveway and were very helpful while being respectful of our privacy. We happened to be there during an unexpected snowstorm (in October!) and they made sure that we had plenty of candles and flashlights just in case we lost power (thankfully, we did not need them). We were a little concerned about getting out the next day but the street is paved and the driveway was plowed first thing in the morning so we had no problem (the owners also shoveled a path in front of our door right up to our car). The home-made brownies and muffins which were waiting for us upon arrival were also greatly appreciated after our long drive. We would definitely recommend it and we will be back!

We spent 6 nights at Great Barrington in late September 2010 - 2 adults and kids aged 10 and 12. The hosts were very helpful with the booking and organising, very welcoming (the muffins and brownies were fabulous after a long drive) and the apartment ideal for our needs, clean comfortable and charming, and plenty of room for a family - the kids having their own bathroom a real luxury on holiday. We found lots to do in variable weather in the countryside and little towns and felt very at home when we came back each afternoon. Hancock Shaker Village, the Bash-Bish Falls walk and Norman Rockwell museum were all good. Great Barrington is well set up for food shopping etc and a cute town as well. Thoroughly recommended.

Our weekend at the apartment on Division St. was just wonderful. We found the apartment to be very well equipped as well as very comfortable. It was spacious and easily accommodated the 5 adults in our party and all the visitors we had during our stay. The attached deck is great and is a really pleasant place to spend some time looking across the meadow or spend some time outside at night watching the shooting stars and identifying constellations. It is close to the heart of Great Barrington which makes it accessible to all of the many things to do in the Berkshires.

Our family spent a wonderful weekend in this apartment during the summer. The apartment is in an absolutely perfect location, close to town but out of the way enough to completely relax. We were traveling with our two daughters and found the apartment very well appointed. The owners were great to work with and were able to provide some great local insight. We would absolutely rent this property again.

We (4 adults) have stayed in the apartment twice. We have also rented other apartments while on vacation in other places and would rate this as one of the best. The location is great - both for skiing and attending concerts at Tanglewood during the summer. Both times we were greeted by a basket of fresh-baked muffins; the apartment is very clean, has nice linens and comfortable beds. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, dishes, and pots & pans; we were able to save quite a lot of money by cooking some of our own meals! The owners live in a separate house on the property and gave us some good suggestions about restaurants and activities in the area. We look forward to staying there again!

The apartment is perfect! We were greeted with a basket of fresh baked muffins and brownies!! YUM The apartment is much bigger than it looks in photo's, but has nooks and character to make it cozy & charming. Our young children loved staying here, there are toys, games and plenty of books! It is maybe a 7 min drive to Butternut ski mountain and just minutes to all shops and restaurants- very conviently located. We would definitely look to stay here again!
