Return trip-Still Fabulous!

Guest: Shari (Atlanta, GA, USA)

Thanks again, Walter, for a wonderful stay in your exquisite house, Casa Bella in Manzanillo. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed our vacation. This place has everything needed to feel at home away from home. I think we will make Casa Bella our go-to vacation getaway! On this trip we explored the jungle and the area restaurants, rode bicycles and went birding. We loved the seafood stew at Maxie's, btw, and thank Walter for that suggestion.

A great experience at Casa Bella

Guest: Browns from Alaska (Fairbanks, Alaska)
Date of Stay: 12/30/10 Review Submitted: 05/21/11

We looked at many rental reviews prior to our trip to Manzanillo and chose Casa Bella based off of the favorable reviews. We were not dissapointed and were pleasantly surprised to find that Casa Bella exceeeded our expectations. We have three young children and wanted them to see and experience Costa Rica jungle wildlife. The rental unit at Casa Bella is situated in the forest canopy so it offers a unique opportunity to observe toucans and other birds, not to mention howler and white faced monkeys literally almost within reach of the rental. By this I mean it is on a steep hill and on pilings so the kitchen/living area, balconies, and sleeping quarters are at canopy level. I don't think there are many other rentals in the Manzanillo area which offer this rare opportunity to spend time IN the Carribean rain forest canopy surrounded by wildlife. There were several moments where we had howler monkeys in the canopy surrounding the rental as they moved throught the area. The living area/kitchen is spacious and open, and the bathrooms are clean. The owner Walter was very helpful and was a great guy to get to know. He's an excellent massage therapist and is highly recommended. The driveway is steep and so are the stairs (from the parking area up to the house) but we had no problems driving to the house, or with our 3, 6, and 9 year olds going up and down the stairs. The beautiful beaches of Manzanillo are within walking/biking distance (we just piled into our rental car and drove the approx 1/4 mile), and Casa Bella is a great retreat that's off "the beaten path", but within striking distance from several restaurants and activities. If you want a clean, very relaxing, laid back experience in the rain forest canopy with lots of opportunities to see wildlife that's off the beaten path but close beaches and activities, you won't regret choosing Casa Bella for your stay.

Great experience...

Casa Bella is really what its words mean in its true sense. A wonderful house (actually 2 houses) at an exceptional location (you feel like in the middle of the rain forest). Great Beaches and reefs in walking distance, a quite nice little town (except for the easter weekend) and the full rainforest experience. Highly recommendable.

Thanks to the owner, Walter, for topping off this vacation, voted "BEST EVER" by my family, with wonderful massages and information about the area that led us to just the right places! The houses are just beautiful,. the gardens so lush, the nearby beach so perfect. We didn't ever want to leave the house, but did go out for so many fun activities, diving, hiking and wonderful restaurants nearby. We will return yearly to explore the area more.

Great place to take a holiday!

Guest: Girls from Greece (Greece!)
Date of Stay: 05/01/10 Review Submitted: 11/15/10

Sorry it took me so long to review this great house and host. My family was in Manzanillo for two weeks in July of 2010. We came from Greece and had a wonderful time. Our host, Walter Brown, speaks many languages, offers massages and has so many nice things in his house. He also lives in the area and knows what to do and where to go. We hiked the rainforest preserve nearby, spent days at the beach, danced and night and ate wonderful and fresh food every day. I recommend this house highly!

Hideaway is Just What We Needed

Guest: Marlena and Al (Montgomery, Alabama)
Date of Stay: 11/04/10 Review Submitted: 11/15/10

Walter, we had a perfect rip! Thanks for taking care of my family and making the extra special effort to see that we were comfortable. We loved waking up to the howler monkeys, and as you told me, the views from the living room deck were no less than spectacular. Going to Maxi's was great, the beach was perfect and the kids had a great time. The house had everything we needed, there were plenty of places to go and things to do. We will come back and highly recommend this as a go-to vacation spot! Thanks again!

Exquisite Jungle Hideaway Fulfills Dreams!

Guest: Karl & Kids (Napa, California)
Date of Stay: 08/23/10 Review Submitted: 11/08/10

When my family was seeking a true rain forest experience, I came across this listing for Casa Bella. The owner, Walter Brown, was so accommodating and kind. We were brought to this lovely home and couldn't believe it is sitting in the middle of the jungle, yes is still a short walk to the beach. We were at one with nature (sounds hokey), having coffee with the howler monkeys, being thrilled by the toucans in the trees just metres away as we had breakfast on the balcony. The came the hummingbirds and the butterflies. We never wanted to leave! I can HIGHLY suggest this house as the best of over 25 stays in VRBO properties over the years.
