About the Location:
The Village of Newhaven is located on undiscovered Fripp Island, a 3000 acre private, gated, sea island with an emphasis on family, fun, and relaxation. Our villa is situated at the "Ocean Point" of the island and is wrapped by the ocean on 2 sides.
Of all the neighborhoods on Fripp, none provide better access to the ocean, golf, pool, and dining. You are literally steps away from each.
Beyond Newhaven, Fripp Island offers 2 championship golf courses(designed by George Cobb and Davis Love), a 10 court tennis center, 5 pools, parks, marina, bike and walking trails, and an array of dining options and boutique shopping.
In addition, you can rent golf carts for relaxing transport around the island, as well as bikes, scooters, kayaks, and boats to add to the fun.
What you will find on Fripp:
Abundant wildlife (Fripp is a designated wildlife sanctuary)including deer, loggerhead turtles, dolphin, and all sorts of sea birds.
Your choice of high adventure and activities or total peace and quiet.
Convenient and tasteful resort shopping and dining.
Friendly, laid back atmosphere and people. No pretense, just simple seaside luxury.
What you won't find on Fripp:
Congestion and traffic - As the most seaward of South Carolina's sea islands, Fripp is at the end of Highway 21 with Hunting Island State park on one side, and Pritchard's Island (University of South Carolina's marine research island) on the other. Only people staying on Fripp are in the area. There are no traffic lights, and primary transport on the island are golf carts and bikes (although you can use your car if you wish).
Overly commercialized development - Fripp is a residential resort island with a mix of single family homes and low density villas built around a first class country club environment. There are no strip shopping centers or big box retailers to draw crowds or ruin the natural beauty.
On Fripp Island, you feel restfully separated from the busy world, but are still convenient for day trips to historic Beaufort, Charleston, and Savannah.
About Our Villa:
Our neighbors have told us how lucky we are to have our particular location at Newhaven. Our villa is an oceanfront corner unit, flat (single floor) with a spacious 1800 sq. ft. and large windows in all rooms to capture the views.
The floor plan is the most convenient and livable available. The kitchen is oversized with a large eat-in area that seats 6 directly overlooking the ocean. You won't have any trouble getting someone to do the dishes as they look out over the Atlantic.
The living/formal dining room is adjacent with 2 triple sliding doors leading to a huge deck that also directly overlooks the ocean. The master bedroom has direct ocean and pool views, and the other 2 bedrooms have ocean views. All are oversized adding to the feeling of spaciousness and luxury.
Recent renovations include new tile, countertops, and appliances in kitchen, new furniture and paint throughout, and new triple sliding doors. As a finishing touch, much of the artwork is of local scenes by local artists. Our family uses the villa often, so it is well appointed, well stocked, and well cared for.
We purchased our villa after our first visit to Fripp Island because of the unique combination of natural beauty, privacy, safety, and first class resort amenities. We have enjoyed making Fripp Island part of our family vacation traditions, and think you will too.
