Spring/Summer in Florida is here! Yeah, its warm but, its also way less crowded right now here in South Florida, and defininitely more affordable than your typical Carribean or Latin American beach getaway. Although temps right now are topping out at about 80 in the Palm Beaches, summer temps are no hotter than most Midwest and Mid-Atlantic locales--and we have a beach to cool off in! The Palm Beaches are also an absolute bargain if you compare it to the Hamptons, Maine, the Outer Banks or other East Coast beach destinations. In fact, our summer rental rate is 15% off our usual Fall/Winter rates. Also, the water at the beach in Lake Worth, unlike in beach locales up North, is not frigid at all. A near-constant 70 degree water temp is the norm here. Nice!
Our home is a cozy Key West style cottage in a quiet residential area. It is a single family home that has been recently tastefully updated with a new, fully stocked kitchen and is comfortably furnished with a queen bed and two twin beds. A wonderful getaway for someone looking for a quiet, relaxing, low-key beach getaway. The house is located in the quaint town of Lake Worth--'Where the Sub-Tropics Begin!': known for its fine restaurants, antique shops, nightlife, fishing, excellent surfing, and ocean beach. You'll enjoy free Wi-Fi, central air-conditioning, cable (flat screen) television and DVD library when staying at our home! In addition, while staying here you'll have access to your own private laundry and a lovely outdoor patio, hammock and barbecue. Our garden includes hibiscus, frangipani, lychee, night-blooming jasmine, cocoplum, and passionflower vine. There is even a private outdoor shower for rinsing off after a day at the beach or if you just want to clean up under the stars.
The Town of Lake Worth is on the Florida Intracoastal waterway, just minutes from City Place (West Palm Beach's premier shopping, entertainment and nightlife venue), the West Palm Beach International Airport, shopping, and the equestrian centers of nearby Wellington and world-renown PGA course. The house itself is 1 mile from the ocean beach, three blocks from the town's 18-hole public golf course, and a few blocks from the town center (about a 15 minute walk or a ten minute bike ride)--where a variety of restaurants, coffee houses, live theatre, and shops are located.

This place is amazing. Every detail made us feel like we were in our own home but better. The house was just the right size for our family of 4 and super comfortable. Every detail was taken care of from the kitchen to the bathroom to great magazines and wireless. We were able to relax. It was great have a place that felt like home but a resort cabana at the same time. The neighborhood is great and access was easy to all major roads. We will be booking this house next time. Thanks.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

I have now stayed here twice and would stay here again. The place is very nice, I feel even nicer than the pics, very clean, comfortable and nice neighborhood. Every day I either walk or bike to the beach and at night either cook at the house or less than 5 minute drive to the downtown area where there are plenty of good restaurants. My sister now lives in the area which is how I ended up here. I had been coming to Fl for years to visit my father and stayed further south which I never really loved. Now that I stay here, I love it. If you prefer low key, staying at a house and close to beach, you will like this place.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

This wonderful, clean, cottage-style home is located in a safe, quiet, historic neighborhood which is perfect for biking and walking. Pictures capture exactly how the home has been updated to create a casual yet attractive space to relax. The fenced back yard is beautifully landscaped and provides total privacy. The location is perfect—close to beautiful Lake Worth Beach, excellent restaurants, unique shops and golf courses. West Palm Beach is just a short drive away, providing more wonderful shopping, dining and night life. Check out the Saturday Farmer’s Market. The owners of this home aim to please and go the extra mile to ensure that you are comfortable. We would highly recommend this to friends and family and anyone who is seeking a getaway in a quiet spot with a diversity of activities close by. Great vacation home with all of the amenities to ensure that our stay was relaxing…we especially enjoyed using the bicycles, beach chairs, umbrella, and cooler. You thought of everything! The home itself is updated and very clean. The furnishings are comfortable and the bed was perfect! The location is ideal…close to the beach and close to the downtown restaurants. The owners were very helpful with suggestions on what to do and where to eat. I would highly recommend this vacation home to my friends and family. We hope to stay there again!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children.

This was the perfect house for our 5 day stay in Florida. We left the cold weather behind and enjoyed our time here. Beautiful backyard patio to enjoy the sunshine, the flowers were even blooming!!! We used the bicycles everyday and also the beach chairs and umbrella. The house was very clean and tastefully decorated. The location of this house is great, close to the freeway and beach, yet nestled in a quiet neighborhood. Couldn't have picked a more perfect place to stay!! The owners do a good job of describing their property on this site. All the info is very accurate and the pictures are exactly what it looks like. We stayed at the cottage for a week in December and it was wonderful! The neighborhood was fun to ride the bikes through, we were within walking distance to Lake Worth town, and the beach is not far. We were in Florida to adopt a baby and needed a place to stay for an undetermined amount of time. The owners were very understanding of our situation and were so helpful working around our unique schedule. The home was so wonderful, we loved everything about it. The neighborhood was quiet, and very little traffic on the street. The large fenced backyard was a great bonus, and having all of the comforts of home, was so much nicer than trying to stay in a hotel. The house was clean and neat, and very comfortable. The owners even went to the trouble of getting us a loaner rocking chair for the baby. It was just a great experience. Since we had a newborn, we spent most of our time at the house, and the home had everything we could have possibly needed. It would be great for any family with 1-2 children. Our adoption was in Boca Raton, and it was an easy commute from Lake Worth to Boca, also to West Palm. This was a perfect house/cottage for our vacation. Quiet safe neighborhood convenient to everything. Beautiful for biking to downtown Lake Worth and the beaches. This is a great getaway for either a short or long stay because this home has just what you need. Its location is close to everything like the entrance to I 95 or tothe beach. The neighborhood is quiet and the neighbors are friendly. Lake Worth has a small town appeal unique to Florida's east coast. This imaculate home is tastefully decorated with vibrant colors and little touches like beach scenes that add a warm appeal. There is a great backyard to relax in with plenty of privacy. The owners of this house did everything to make our stay comfortable. We really enjoyed using the bikes provided to ride the short distance to Lake Worth beach and enjoyed the fine restaurants nearby. Why the Owner Chose Lake Worth:
We bought here because we were looking for a place to stay when visiting my family in Miami, to get away from the cold mid-Atlantic winters, and as a possible future retirement home. A friend had owned a place in Lake Worth for several years and kept telling me how great it was and affordable...and near the beach (the biggest selling point)! It turned out to be a lot of work but, now that the renovations are done, it is a great place for us to unwind and get away from our hectic, regular lives and not have to sleep on friends' and families' couches in overbuilt and traffic-clogged Miami.
The house was originally a bland, white, ranch house with colonial features and lots of beige inside! Yuck. There was no landscapting to speak of. We've updated it inside and out since we bought it in January of 2008--painted both inside and outside, installed new kitchen and central air, tiled kitchen and bath, installed new hurricane shutters in front. We also removed the water-sucking grass/weed lawn and replaced it with xeriscaped landscaping: native, drought resistant local plants, trees, and tropical palms. The garden/yard is still a bit of a work in progress but, it's getting there!
The house and area are very convenient for getting around--whether you prefer walking, biking, or driving. By auto: Lake Worth town center (5 minutes); City Place Shopping Center (15 minutes); WPB Airport (10 minutes); Lake Worth Beach/Pier (5-8 minutes). Parking is usually plentiful and rarely a hassle in most places in Palm Beach County.
Public transportation (bus and rail) is easily accesible from our home--the Lake Worth Tri-Rail station is about a 10 minute drive from our house and you can catch the Palm Tran bus either from nearby Federal Hwy (a five minute walk) or Dixie Hwy (a 15 minute walk)--it will take you to most points North and South that you might need to go.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
It is very quiet where our house is located in the Parrot Cove neighborhood of Lake Worth. If you are a serious reader, then this is the place for you!--you will have uninterrupted quiet in the sunroom or in the back patio to lose yourself in a novel or other book. The neighbors are friendly and always come around when we are down there to chat and say hello. We keep the windows open at night in the cooler months to catch the breezes and you can hear train wistles in the distance at night (although not too loud or frequent to keep you awake!). The beach area is great and the water is beautiful; although South Florida is relatively flat, it makes for a huge sky that is a deep blue.
I am a long-distance runner and there is no shortage of great running--as well as bicycling--routes (especially along the bay) throughout the area--let me know ahead of time if you are coming to stay and i will mark out some rad routes.
If you are a runner, you'll love the run from the house, to the intracoastal bridge, and then over to the beach. You can also bike the same route. On the Palm Beach island side of the intracoastal, there is a bike/run path the runs along the water. There is also another public golf course on the Palm Beach island side of the intracoastal about a 1.5 miles from the house--the course is oceanside and very scenic. No reason not to stay active and in shape while you are here...or do nothing at all!
Lots of tropical birds that we would never see up north visit the property--parrots, ibis, carribean hummingbirds--as well as all kinds of butterflies (cassius blue, monarchs, and gulf fritillary). If you are our guest, please feel free to leave us feedback on what we can improve upon and feel free (if inclined) to pull any weeds you see.
