This secluded Smith Mountain Lake log cabin, with 3 fireplaces, screened porch, hot-tub & decks is nestled in a wildlife preserve, looking right at Smith Mountain Lake and the Blue Rdige mountains. This home offers a fenced in yard for the dogs and small children, The home features a private dock with deep water & capability for swimming, and boating in this quiet, no-wake cove. It's perfect for children, adults as well as the dog!
The home has 2 canoes for the use of tenants. The trails are for physical exercise, such as hiking and walking only, in order not to disturb the wildlife, no 4-wheelers or ATVs. Relax at night by the wood fireplace upstairs or propane fireplace downstairs and enjoy one of the books offered from the library or one of the games.

Swim right outside at the dock in the no-wake zone; or just slide into the water with the steps offered at the dock. Enjoy the most beautiful deep-green water on Smith Mountain Lake at this location. The dock with hoist and party deck, allow all to enjoy -- with a great swimming area for children and a spectacular fishing area right off the dock! October 2004 the winner of the bass striper tournament caught the fish 4 feet from this dock! (I still think it was partly our fish.)
Enjoy privacy -- with woods and trails to the mountain surrounding this special spot. Hike from your own backyard through the trails, into the Wildlife Preserve.
And enjoy the peacefulness of this area while watching deer, birds, and other wildlife play. Note again: Due to wildlife preserve, no ATV's, quads or four wheelers are allowed!

The cabin is surrounded by trees. It is located on a cul-de-sac and has a very secluded ambiance on 2 acres. There's a dock, swimming ladder, side slip, dock lights, and power for nighttime fishing. There's also an awesome spot for daytime swimming. Log Cabin features fabulous views of the mountain and sunrises any time of year. The covered screened porch is a good spot to enjoy coffee, while gazing at the lake and watching your family at play in the yard or the dock. The side porch and outdoor decks give everyone in the family additional options for rest and relaxation.
The fenced-in back and side yards offer protection for the young children to play; and they ensure that your family dog will not wander off. This is the only fenced in yard on the lake for rental families.
The doors of the living room, dining room and kitchen open onto the back and side porches; so all can come and go often

This house had it all. It was very clean and the fenced in yard was perfect for our dog. The bottle of wine the owner left for us was a nice touch. We really enjoyed our stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

My family and I recently returned from a lovely week long stay at the Log Cabin Retreat. The house is perfectly situated on a very quiet area of the lake and provided all that was listed in the description ---and then some. The views from the house are spectacular and the no-wake zone location made for much relaxation as we floated around on the rafts or took a quiet rides in the canoe. Looking forward to future visits.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

My husband and I just returned from a weekend getaway for our anniversary at Log Cabin Retreat. It was absolutely amazing. The house is wonderful and the bottle of wine was a wonderful touch. We hope to return for many years. The house is in a very quiet area of the lake. The only negative thing we have to say is regarding the parking. It is a little difficult parking a boat trailer as there is not much room to turn around. Other than that (which was manageable) the place was fantastic.Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

The quiet, no one across from you, 5 minute paddle to the open fetch and then you are int he middle of the lake, most convenient spot on the lake for all boating 5 marinas within 1 mile, and the open area at the dam. The views of the mountain are spectacular. The neighborhood is great for walking hiking and biking.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Wildlife Refuge, 15 minutes to grocery stores, 5 to marinas and restaurants, however very peaceful, great walking and biking in the neighborhood, look out for hills....
