Why the Owner Chose McCall
McCall is still a pretty quiet resort town. With local ski resorts in the winter, and the Payette Lake and national parks to enjoy in the summer, it is the perfect getaway. Downtown McCall is perfectly situated on the lake, with wonderful restaurants, shops, and more. You are sure to find plenty of fun outdoor activities to entertain!
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
Our rental cabins are personally owned and managed, not just some of the many run by large property management companies. Some of our family's personal treasures are found in our cabins -- oil paintings that grandma painted, antique nicknacks that have been handed down, etc. We listen to the feedback and ideas of our guests and are constantly making improvements, and adding items to make our cabins perfect. We live less than 5 minutes away, and are available for you if you have any questions or needs. Your enjoyable stay is our first priority! Our motto is, "You'll come to play, and want to stay!"

My husband, Brandon, and I fell in love with McCall from our very first visit. With all of our favorite outdoor activities right in our backyard, from skiing to boating, hiking, biking, fishing, snowmobiling. We knew we wanted to live and raise our three boys here in McCall. Shortly afer we found our home, we realized how nice it would be to have a guest cabin for friends and family when they visit, as well as a rental for others wanting to enjoy mcCall. We found the Storybook Cottage early in 2008 - and it was perfect! The guest demand was enough that we soon added the Pilgrim Cove Cabin, and Rio Vista Mountain Home to our list of rentals.

Our family of five had a great, cozy stay at the Storybook Cottage! Everything was well maintained with lots of thoughtful details. They even started a fire in the fireplace to make sure everything was toasty for our arrival. Great experience and would highly recommend!

We had an Italian exchange student with us for Christmas 2009 and chose McCall for our annual Christmas vacation. We couldn't have chosen a more idyllic spot. The cottage was wonderfully cozy with 4 teenage children and 2 adults. We loved cooking our meals there and Christmas morning was very special with the wood burning stove and Rockwell setting. Our hosts made us feel very special when we drove up by having the lights on and a fire burning when we walked in. We will definitely go back and will only stay where Nicole tells us to. She is the best and very professional.

A charming getaway

Aptly named cottage, but this one is much better than a storybook...traditional fairytale cottages don't come equipped with modern conveniences like dishwashers, microwaves, and a washer/dryer! Rest assured you could cook a Thanksgiving meal in the kitchen, and still have pots, pans, and dishes to spare. The cabin was just as promised. Plenty of room for a family to stretch out, while somehow maintaining a cozy, magical feel. The location is great, the scenery is beautiful, and Nicole is very friendly and accomodating. One weekend here just wasn't enough...we are already trying to arrange our schedules for a return visit!

We recently spent a summer week in this woodsy cabin on the slopes above Payette Lake. It is absolutely what we had hoped for: rustic in mood but comfy in the details. It's a cabin, but you have a big-screen projection TV with lots of seating, very adequate kitchen, two oversized bedrooms featuring private sitting areas with what I would have to suspect were high-thread-count sheets! (There's also a loft bedroom set up with what look like very comfortable twin beds). The location is hard to beat: super proximity to McCall and the lake park by Shore Lodge, plus all the restaurants in town, as well as the uplands to the west where you can walk pretty much endlessly in wilderness owned by the government, or even ride your bike. The huckleberries, I'm told, are also there for those with the right timing. The owners have anticipated outdoorsy summer guests by putting in what looks to be a regulation volleyball court and an outdoor firepit (you know, for marshmellows). There are towering Ponderosa pines all around, and the feeling is very much "the cabin in the woods" as neighbors, while present, are not really very visible. Who needs "grand" when you can have this "storybook cottage" and enjoy the simple life with no comfort compromises. Perfect.
