Accommodations: Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths (Sleeps 6-8)
Are you looking for a cozy romantic getaway, far from the hectic life in the city?
This mountain cabin is situated deep within the wooded forests of Kingvale, right on the banks of the South Fork of the Yuba River, yet only 5 minute walk from off street parking in the winter and less than 6 miles to Sugar Bowl, Donner Ski Ranch, Boreal and Royal Gorge Cross-country ski resorts. On the Western Slopes of the Sierras, just 80 miles from the Sacramento Airport; avoid the traffic and delays that Lake Tahoe Skiers experience every day.
The huge firs and pines escaped the loggers over the past 75 years and the dirt roads and overall atmosphere reflects the old world mountain cabins of the 30's and 40's. This cabin, however, was built in the 70's and has been updated since then. Complete with dishwasher, a modern kitchen and bath, baseboard heaters and a wood burning stove, this vacation site is a pleasure to return to after a day of downhill or cross country skiing. Backing up to a uninhabited expanse of forest and old logging roads, freestyle tubing, sledding and snowshoeing are also available.
With an upstairs bedroom, half bath and loft and with a downstairs bedroom and private deck, this oasis can make a weekend feel like a trip to another world.
In the summer months, relax on the deck, take a walk in the local forests or use this as a base camp to explore the miles of nearby hiking and biking trails.
In the winter months, so much snow falls in Kingvale that off street parking permits in a plowed lot (a five minute walk away) are included with the rental. So pack up a backpack, and go for a stroll to a winter wonderland.
Reserve your stay today and plan on coming back.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1994
Skiing, Snowboarding and Snowshoeing, followed in the spring with fishing, hiking and rafting, we have been spending every free weekend up here for years. The kids still come back with their friends to play, but we decided to share the place with you. We live less than 100 miles away and sometimes come up just for a day!
Why the Owner Chose Soda Springs
This cabin is ideally situated on the west side of the Sierras, right in the Donner Summit area. Close to Sugar Bowl, Royal Gorge, Donner Ski Ranch and Boreal, and right off of Highway 80, this place is a quick commute to the Bay Area, and if the freeway closes you are on this side of the mountain, no problems like those folks stuck in Truckee.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
The cabin sits right on the south fork of the Yuba river and in the spring the snow melt turns the river into a raging waterway. The air is fresh and clean no doubt cleansed by the hundred year old firs and cedars on this unlogged community. Dirt roads and just family cabins here make it a throwback to the Sierras at the turn of the century.
