Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2005
Margaret & Rodger are an early retired English couple who designed and built La Charpenterie in 2005. They had many holidays in the Loire Valley before living there and so are able to help guests with advice on all the amenities and attractions in the area, especially great Loire wines and the best local restaurants.
Why the Owner Chose Saumur
The Loire valley was the choice of the kings of France when they wanted to leave the city. Being only 3 hours drive from Paris, you are staying in a large wine-growing region with many appellations to taste and enjoy. La Charpenterie is just 6 miles from the Abbey at Fontevraude and convenient for all the major chateaux, Villandry and Chenonceau. There are several golf courses nearby and superb restaurants close by in Saumur.
