Looking for a peaceful and beautiful get-away? This one fits the bill--on the outskirts of lovely Lake City, a town with a year-round population of 350.
This comfortable mountain home has all the amenities you might require on your visit to the mountains. The main floor has 2 living areas—one with the TV and a game table, and the other with a fireplace and seating area. We have lots of jigsaw puzzles to work while you’re relaxing, and a big selection of movies for those times you want to recover from that mountain hike.
The kitchen is open to the dining room, and includes a bar where you can sit to eat if you wish. In the kitchen cupboards, you will find all the dishes and cooking utensils that you could possibly need. The dining room has a large table with several leaves, so it can be adjusted for larger groups. Or if you prefer, any time of year, you can enjoy eating on the sun porch with floor to ceiling windows, where you can enjoy the beautiful view of "T" Mountain while you eat, or watch the deer which often visit the front yard right outside the windows. If you want to eat outdoors, we have a large grassy picnic area just across the driveway. There’s a picnic table and a big shade tree there, and a firepit stocked with wood, ready to stoke up a fire for those hot dog cookouts with s’mores for dessert! And all the while, overlooking Lake City and enjoying views for miles around.
Also downstairs, there is one roomy bedroom with 2 double beds, a very large walk-in closet, and a full bathroom. Going upstairs you’ll find 2 spacious bedrooms. One has a queen bed, and the other has twin beds. There is a desk in one of the bedrooms, with internet connection for your computer. Both have large walk-in closets and plenty of room for your belongings. There is a large bathroom between the bedrooms upstairs.
Our location is ideal, because we are just above a residential area, and have no nearby neighbors. Our closest neighbors are located behind us and you don’t even see them. We are also next to BLM property and look out on one side to the virgin forests. Even so, we are within ½ half mile of the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River, and just a bit farther from the post office and grocery store in town. It is an easy walk to town, with a great walking bridge that crosses the river.

Just a note to let you know that we thoroughly enjoyed your home last week. Your managers, the Olsons, were very kind. The storage was wonderful. The space worked very well and I was so happy to see gas cooking. The kids had plenty of space outside to play and picnic. Everyone enjoyed their time there. Thank you again for letting us borrow your home!

I don't think I got to share with you, but last June we had such a great time at your place. Bicycling, running, and jeeping the Alpine Loop were fantastic, and coming back to your house each night was a special treat. I'm planning our winter break trip for January, and I wanted to firm up our dates for 2011 . . .

As we prepare to pack up and return home tomorrow, I wanted to take a minute to thank you for the opportunity to stay here in your gorgeous Lake City home. We have enjoyed being here so much!! It's beautiful everywhere you look, and the house is like having the comforts of home! I wanted you to know how much we've enjoyed our stay here! The kids are so fascinated by the numerous deer who wander up (we all are), we've loved playing in the snow, sledding and hiking - thanks for the suggestions! We took a day trip to Crested Butte for skiing one day - an easy trip and a great day as well. But it was nice to return to your home for the night. We've had a great week! We may be back this summer!

Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed staying in your nicely-appointed home! Our daughter sat right down to a 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle, and our son to the piano. We loved the arrangement of the fire pit and spent a lot of time out there soaking up the sun and enjoying the view. Also, a marathon Monopoly game in the sun room was real highlight :-) We appreciated the restaurant recommendations - the dining out was great! We also had a nice night in, grilling burgers and brats. We hope your home is available for our next trip to Lake City (what a gem of a town!). We had a wonderful time.
