Welcome to Diamond Cove, your retreat on the shores of beautiful Lake Vermilion. Lake Vermilion is a marvelous fishing lake with northern pike, walleye, large and small-mouthed bass, sunfish, perch and muskie. It runs 40 miles from Cook to Tower with over 1200 miles of shoreline and 365 islands. Bring your fishing gear, waterskis, wakeboards, tubes or whatever 'floats your boat' as summer water temperatures are normally in the 70's. If you're a water person, this is the place for you. This is as close as you come to a 'golden pond' experience.
Diamond Cove is a rustic log cabin featuring original square hewn logs throughout the interior with plenty of living space. This is a home, not a resort cabin. You will find it cozy and inviting with all the charm of the north woods and all the conveniences of modern living, including WiFi. So you can keep in touch with work if you have to, or if you prefer, just send email updates and photos of your fantastic vacation to jealous friends and co-workers (maybe not your boss).
Just 30 feet from the water's edge, nestled on a lovely wooded lot, you will find yourself face-to-face with the majesty of nature every day at Diamond Cove. Wake up and enjoy the spectacular view with your morning coffee. Eager fishermen can be off and running at the crack of dawn with their boat ready to go in the wet boathouse or the slip. If you aren't using the slip for a second boat, you might want to use it as a protected wading pool for little ones.
Diamond Cove is great for a large family, or two small ones. The sleeping porch is open to the family room, but can be closed off for privacy at night.
Kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glassware, utensils, toaster, coffee maker, blender, microwave. Family room has games, books and videos for our guests to use.
Diamond Cove is in a fantastic location for this lake. It is easily accessible by road and is near the Moosebirds store and The Landing Restaurant. Our shoreline is rock and sand without weeds, which makes it nice for swimming. At night, you can build a bonfire lakeside and listen to the loons. You'll never forget the time you spend here.
No boat rental is available with this property. Rental of fishing boats or pontoon boats can be arranged through Moosebirds 218-666-2627 or Spring Bay Resort 218-666-5607. Both businesses are right in our bay. Please call them directly for availability. They sell out quickly.
Diamond Cove is right next door to vrbo cabin 428580.

My husband and I stayed at Diamond Cove and had a great time! Everything was clean and comfortable when we arrived at this cozy two bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin with an additional sleeping porch. Looking out the patio door we found a nice deck overlooking beautiful Lake Vermillion with our own private dock and boat house just steps away. We launched our boat at the public access just a short drive down the road and headed out to fish. It was exactly as described and pictured. We were very pleased with everything and Martha was friendly and helpful in everyway. We absolutely loved having the boat house and if it hadn't turned cold it would have been a great place to swim. Due to rain, we drove to Ely one day and enjoyed looking around town. Another rainy day we drove to Virginia for a movie and out to eat. The theater appeared to be fairly new and it was very nice! We also drove to Cook, just 10 minutes away, to a little cafe in town and had a great breakfast! We could have spent all our time on the water if the weather had cooperated, but the cabin was an enjoyable place to curl up with a good book, use the wireless internet or watch a little tv. The kitchen was well equipped with a microwave, fridge, gas stove and utensils. Outside right next to the lake is a campfire ring for your enjoyment and you are sure to hear the loons call adding the perfect touch to your perfect day! Our trip was relaxing, comfortable and fun! Thanks so much to Martha and her family for sharing their little cabin in the woods with us! We loved it!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks so much Heidi! My only regret is that you missed the movie theater in Cook; the eclectic "Comet", where you can get gourmet coffee, unique women's accessories and gifts, and watch a movie on the big screen. Luckily, there is always something to do, even if the weather doesn't cooperate! Come back and visit again!

I am so glad that I selected this cabin over the other options. I was looking for a more authentic cabin feel rather than just another "house on a lake" and this cabin did not disappoint. Our children really enjoyed the kayaks that are provided and utilized them almost every day. I will have to say that the close proximity to the famous Moosebirds can be "dangerous" as we went there for ice cream every other day. ;) We also really enjoyed the fact that we could swim right from the dock and didn't always need to be on the boat to do so. While we were at the cabin we took a Mine tour at the Soudan mine and also made a trip over to Ely to see the Bears and check out the town. Both of these excursions are within driving distance and worth a trip.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks so much Todd. We are thrilled you chose to spend your family vacation here and look forward to your return next summer! ~Martha

My family and I enjoyed a spectacular 4th of July at Diamond Cove. If you were to look up "north woods cabin with million dollar view" online, this cabin's picture should be in the description box. The spacious cabin is fully equipped and perfect for a family, group of friends or a get-away. Lake Vermillion is spectacular whether you are on or off the lake. There is no better place to begin your day at sunrise on the deck or to end your evening at sunset around the campfire. Fishing is plentiful in the lake and there didn't seem to be enough time in one week to do all that we wanted to do. I would highly recommend Diamond Cove and look forward to returning in the future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks so much, LeeAnne, you and your family are always welcome! ~Martha

Dear Strawbridge Family, Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful Lake Vermilion home. We loved the historic feel of the cabin, the fabulous view, the roominess (plenty of room for 8) - EVERYTHING! We made good use of the closet, door pantry and room off the kitchen for storage. Two boys, age 9 & 10 turned the boat house into the "Bati Shop" and were busy all week stocking it with their catch-minnows, leeches and crayfish! Swimming was great and we enjoyed all the local attractions too- the Bears, Wolf Center, Sudan Mine, Comet Theater, shopping etc. Thank you to for the warm welcome note, wine & shirt. I also appreciate the prompt return of the security deposit too. Wow! What a great time!! Hope we can come back soon.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

An old college buddy and I spent two weeks here and loved it! It was truly as pictured and presented. The cabin is a modernized log cabin with everything you should need - a TV, microwave, WiFi (excellent reception), and a log-simulated gas fireplace that lights with a remote control. It is well-stocked with everything you should need for cooking. There's even a washer and dryer. The place is as picturesque as you could imagine, and the lake is right out the back door. There's a great boathouse with electricity and a long dock. The call of Loons frames the evening, and ducks with a dozen or more ducklings in tow swim past the shoreline. I went through a couple of jars of unsalted roasted peanuts feeding the tame yard chipmunks by hand. One morning a large doe walked right through the yard to go to the lake for a drink. The water is spectacular. It is clear but tannic, and there are boulders all around the shoreline. The surface boulders in the lake proper are clearly marked with hazard buoys and the buoys should be taken seriously. My friend caught a 26-pound Northern Pike and I caught a 4-pound Smallmouth. We also caught a couple of Largemouth (one about 4 pounds). We caught lots of Pike in the 10-pound range, lots of Smallmouth in the 1-3 pound range, and bunches of Warmouth. We also caught several perch. We didn't really know how to fish for Walleye, so we left those to those who know how to fish for them. The first week we were there, the weather was absolutely perfect: light wind, no rain, cool in the evenings. The second week we had a couple of days with afternoon thundershowers and higher winds, but we managed to fish early mornings on those days. The owners couldn't have been nicer. They were helpful and accommodating and solved a couple of problems by email. One day we lost our internet connection and she tracked down the problem and it was quickly resolved. There's a nice local restaurant - The Landing - in the immediate area. It's a couple of coves away by boat or a 5-minute drive. They have great hamburgers, but I can't recommend their steaks... Also, there's a neat town 10 minutes away called Cook. It has everything you should need, including a McDonalds for the kids. There's also a great local restaurant in town called the Montana Cafe. It's worth a trip for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. If you order a malt - which you should - just order one for two people. They're too big for one person. It was OUTSTANDING!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you Dom and Tom, That was beautiful. Martha

Our fishing party of six have stayed for for the past two years and enjoyed everthing about the cabin including its size, layout, secluded in nature, and up north feel. The garage is a nice plus, but does not beat the boat house, which is really nice to have. The fire pit and lake view really cap off a day on the lake. Caught many species of fish from walleye, northern, smallmouth, and sunnies including a 17 pound northern pike. Would not hestitate to recommend this stay to other family and friends.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks Mike, we are so glad you and your fishing crew have shared good times at our cabin. ~Martha
