Beach Dream, Spectacular Beach House on Great Guana Cay, Abaco, Bahamas
Beach Dream is a luxurious beachfront house finished in January 2009 with all new tropical furnishings. It has 4 bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms with a fully-furnished gourmet kitchen, stainless steel appliances and filtered water throughout the house. The house offers an open floor plan including an island with bar stools and a dining room table that seats 8, making Beach Dream perfect for family dinners and entertaining. There is a wall of windows in the great room and dining room overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the gorgeous pink sand beach that stretches for miles. The beach house is elevated and offers panoramic views from the large front deck of the wrap around porch.
If you like the best, Beach Dream is for you...it's EXTRAORDINARY! Every detail has been beautifully executed, from the porcelain tile floors to 10' ceilings in the bedrooms and the vaulted cypress tongue and groove ceilings in the great room
About Great Guana Cay: Great Guana Cay is a barrier island in the Abaco chain of islands in the Bahamas. The third largest reef sits just off shore. The island has about 150 residents but there are quite a few second homeowners and visitors. Guana Cay is a beautiful tropical island with gorgeous beaches that are never crowded and the color of the water is unbelievable! It is secluded yet has all the necessities. There are a few restaurants and bars, a grocery store and a liquor store. Dive Guana offers scuba diving and snorkeling trips, and they also rent nice 21ft. to 23ft. boats for fishing, diving or exploring on your own. World-famous Nipper’s Beach Bar and Grill has very good food and they are family-friendly with a swimming pool. It’s always fun and people come from all of the neighboring islands to visit, especially on Sunday afternoon for the weekly pig roast. Grabber's Bar & Grill is fun, too and a great place to watch the beautiful Guana sunset. Beach Dream is within walking distance to all the fun
Bedroom Details: All of the bedrooms have been furnished with high thread-count sheets and bedding. The master bedroom has a king bed with French doors that open onto the front deck and gorgeous colors of the ocean. The master bath has double sinks with a shower tiled to the ceiling. The second master also has a king bed with its own entrance into the bathroom that can also be accessed from the hallway. It has a tub/shower that is also tiled to the ceiling. The half bath is located near the third and fourth bedrooms. The third bedroom has a queen bed and the fourth has a bunk bed and a twin bed.
Restaurants and Shops on Great Guana Cay : World-famous Nipper’s Beach Bar and Grill is family-friendly with a swimming pool and consistently excellent food. It’s always fun and people come from all of the neighboring islands to visit, especially on Sunday afternoon for the weekly pig roast. A local character named Milo runs a stand on the main harbour street that offers home-grown vegetables, citrus and lobster tails. Don’t forget Grabber’s for dinner and to watch the spectacular sunsets. Pirate Cove’s Tiki Hut has a daily special for lunch and dinner as well as ice cream. Another option is Orchid Bay Yacht Club & Marina which has a nice restaurant as well as a full-service marina. Island Flavours offers take-home freshly-cooked food Thursday through Sunday including excellent conch salad. Beach Dream is within walking distance to everything, but it’s fun to rent a golf cart for a day or two to explore the entire seven mile island including the Conch Shack and restaurant at the exclusive Bakers Bay Golf & Beach Club.

I have had the great fortune of travelling throughtout the world. Our preferences are to stay in villas, homes or small bungalow type of accomadations as opposed to large hotels. We also prefer to cook as many meals as possible to cut down on costs. Beach Dream is all that we could ask for and more. The setup for our group of 9 people was very comfortable and open. The setting is perched upon a beautiful sand dune and the beach sand is the softest we've ever encountered. The coral reef right off the beach is about as convenient as could be possible. Our 7 year old son made many swims to the reef and saw all kinds of fish and turtles. My top 3 favorite things about Beach Dreams are, 1. centrally located on the island 2. the onobstructed view of the Alantic ocean 3. the accomodations of the house, very well laid out. If any of these things are appealing to you, I would suggest looking into this spot and making your own Beach Dreams.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for the kind words. We are very happy that Beach Dream was everything you were looking for in a beach house with all the comforts of home. It's the perfect place on Great Guana Cay for families and friends to stay together and play together in paradise.... and the view is spectacular! We hope you'll visit again soon, Grant & Ellen

We were a group of a 8 and came to Guana Cay for my husbands 60th. We had been to other islands in the Bahamas and none of them compare to this one. The Beach Dream has the best location on the island with an amazing reef directly behind the house. Its two doors down from the famous Nipper's where you can get a local drinks, eat, dance and swim in their pool. The sand on the beach could not be softer and sights are the best. The house was perfect. Nicely decorated and very comfortable. We cooked dinner everyday and the kitchen has everything you need. if your looking to fish, snorkel, relax this is the place to be. We rented a boat from Dive guana and did some island hoping and spearfishing with the Hawiaan sling and caught yellow jack, grouper, snapper and lobster. Our trip was amazing. Thank you Grant for making it so easy. We felt well prepared in knowing everything about the island with all of the information you sent us. We will be back. I don't think Geronimo will last a year before he returns. If I have any suggestions it would be a fish cleaning station but everything was perfect.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

What an exceptional location on Great Guana Cay! We have visited the island before, but this was definitely our best trip. Beach Dream is a lovely, perfectly maintained home. Everything was first rate, from the lovely kitchen, well stocked pantry, comfortable beds, great entertainment system, beach chairs, etc. The owner, Grant, kept in contact with us throughout the reservation process, and immediately answered all our questions. Gina, the caretaker, was fantastic, meeting us at the ferry dock, answering our questions and checking on us throughout the week. If you love to snorkel, this is a great location - the best reef in Guana is directly in front of the house, about 100 yds out. It is outstanding, colorful coral, thousands of tropical fish, sea turtles (we saw 15 over one week!), lobster, and even one shark! It was outstanding. We rented two boats from Troy at Dive Guana and spent a day at the marine preserve at nearby Fowl Cay, and had lunch in Hope Town on Elbow Cay - so much fun, and Troy made everything so easy. I'd also recommend having lunch down at Baker's Bay at the end of the island. It's kinda fun to gawk at all the monster yachts owned by famous people (Leo Dicaprio and George Strait's boats - or maybe more like *ships* were there), and the food was excellent. We also dove for conch off of Shell Island and made fresh conch salad (yum!) and fried crack conch for dinner (double yum!!). The house is so close to the settlement that our party of 10 only needed one golfcart instead of the 3 we've had to rent in the past, which saved us a bunch of money. Plus, being so close to Nippers, Grabbers, the grocery and liquor stores was really convenient. That being said, the house is at the end of a remote, charming lane, so it feels private. All in all, we had a blast and Beach Dream was all that was advertised. Highly recommended!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

What a fabulous property in a location that offers miles of pristine beachfront, privacy, a few stumbling steps home after enjoying the food & drinks along with chest thumping dance music at the world famous Nipper's Bar. Our first week hosted three couples in comfort due to the great floorplan and amazing stocked kitchen. The outstanding floor to ceiling windows flooded the grand living space with sunshine and an expansive view of the sea. This home provided the seating capacity both inside and outside for a household of eight, which was not always available in other rentals. Our second week entertained a new crowd of six and the exchange was made easy using the main floor laundry to quickly change sheets & towels. The linen closets are liberally stocked. The pantry held a great supply of spices, staples, kitchen wraps, etc. - a very pleasant surprise. This home is in a prime location- close to the grocery store (that we visited every day!), close to the liquor store (that we vistied every day), a few minutes from the ferry dock, walking distance to Grabbers, Nippers and a few other restaurants that unfortunately were closed during our stay. Take advantage of the golf carts and travel to Bakers Bay to enjoy outstanding cuisine or just a drink at their bar. We rented a boat for the week thru the Dive shop and explored the Sea of Abaco to Hope Town, Treasure Cay and the snorkel park. The men went bone fishing on Great Abaco but there appears to be a great spot right on Guana near Baker's Bay if you wish to avoid the ferry ride. Everyone of our guests loved this property and the locale, we would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great beach vacation, great nightlife, and a spacious home to entertain.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for the very nice review...we're thrilled that you enjoyed the house and Guana Cay as much as we do. We look forward to your next visit!

Thanks Grant for letting us stay in your lovely home. We loved the layout. Everything was first class; clean and perfect. We tried all of your suggestions and everything was great. We went on a snorkel trip with Troy at Dive Guana and rented a boat from him for five days. With the boat we were able to enjoy some of the other islands as well. We especially loved being able to find a secluded beach and just hang out in the water. We also rented a six seater golf cart from Donna and toured all of Guana Cay. We especially enjoyed our time at Grabbers; Irene was fantastic. Thanks for a "once-in-a-lifetime" vacation. We cannot wait to go back.Recommended for: Girls getaway, people with disabilities, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We are a family of 6 adults and one child and found the house perfect for our vacation. It is spacious and comfortable. The only thing missing was good furniture on the large terrace, the current items are really not letting you take full advantage of this wonderful area.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: I'm glad you enjoyed your vacation and found Beach Dream to be perfect. We also love the large deck overlooking ocean and will soon have nice sturdy furniture that can withstand the elements and to accompany the new picnic table. You'll see it on your next visit and I'm sure we'll earn all five stars.

Beach Dream is just as promised - Spectacular. It was everything Grant promised and more. Our stay was fun-filled, relaxing, adventurous, and peaceful and it was just what we needed to unwind from our hectic lives. The house was amazing, with a view from nearly every room. We spent many hours simply sitting and watching the beautiful ocean, the gorgeous sunsets and even an amazing lightning storm. Grant has thought of everything. The decor is tasteful and very tropical, the appliances are high-end and well-maintained, and every amenity imaginable has been provided. Grant even supplied a Pak-n-Play for our 13 month old daughter. Our family of 6, including 2 elderly grandparents, a godmother and an infant all had rooms of our own and never felt crowded or pressed for space. The layout is very family friendly and perfect for larger families. We took daily walks on the beach to hunt for shells and rarely saw others. We felt the entire cay was ours alone. The waters are beautiful and clean and the coral reefs off the shore are full of sea life. We rented snorkel gear from Dive Guana as Grant suggested and were treated with sightings of schools of colorful fish and a very tenacious baby shark. Quite a thrill. Nippers was great for an afternoon cocktail or a night cap. We enjoyed the casual atmosphere there and the Nipper Juice is a must try. Grabbers was also recommended and our best sunset photos were taken there, just as Grant suggested. The local fruit stand owner, Milo (who provided us with the best fruit ever) informed us Beach Dream is the most sought after rental on the cay and we see why. It is a spectacular home, in a fabulous location and Grant goes above and beyond to make your travel and stay a once in a lifetime experience. We can't thank the Kelly's and the island residence enough. Our trip was perfect!Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for the wonderful review and we're delighted that Beach Dream exceeded your expectations. Guana Cay is truly an unspoiled paradise that everyone should experience and we look forward to your return.
