COUNTRY CHARMER

Guest: katherine w. (CA)
Date of Stay: 04/19/12 Review Submitted: 05/08/12

How we wished we could have stayed longer! Our hosts were welcoming and have outfitted this lovely apartment with all one needs for a quick weekend stay or a month. Located on a thirteen acre farm, the solitude and the surrounding nature provide a peaceful and pastoral setting. This charming apartment is bordered by flower gardens and a bouquet awaited us as well as a great pinot noir-such a very special touch! The owners have created an informative binder that not only offers places of interest but also recommendations for dining. Providing breakfast foods made our mornings so relaxing and we were able to plan trips to nearby Willamette wineries. Our weekend went too quickly but we look forward to visiting again this summer. Thank you!

Absolutely Wonderful!

We had such a wonderful stay here. We truly could not have ask for more. The open feeling apartment was perfect for our little family of 4. It is lovely, clean and has plenty of privacy. The kitchen is well stocked with what a cook would need. We cooked both nights of our stay & never lacked anything. The breakfast items provided were a wonderful & appreciated touch. The hosts here are extremely hospitable & have thought of everything. No detail is overlooked. The property is lovely and the tree house is an amazing thing to behold. The kids loved it (well, OK so did Mom & Dad). We have stayed in several different vacation rentals over the years and I have to say this did not feel like a vacation rental, it felt more like a home away from home. I highly recommend this property.

Just Beautiful!

My husband and I stayed here over a weekend and it was by far one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. It was clean, comfortable, and had a beautiful view. The owners were welcoming and took time to explain where everything was located, gave restaurant recommendations, and when our grandchildren stopped by, took everyone out into the pasture to meet and feed the goats. It was a wonderful experience and we totally recommend it.

I have stayed in many rentals troughout the USA and this was by far the most welcoming. Sally and Ron were gracious hosts and accomodated our every need. The apartment was delightful, clean and well stocked. Information about the area and restaurants far exceeded our expectatuons. Every comfort you could imagine was waiting for us. The many windows allowed for plenty of sunshine, beautiful views and the birds were fascinating to watch. I hope to come back soon and spend more time relaxing and enjoying the surroundings of this beautiful place. The wine tasting was fun but just being here was so well worth the trip to McMinnville. Thank you so much.

Superb Apartment in a Restful Setting

We recently traveled to the McMinnville area on a business trip, and chose Sally and Ron's property for our accomodations. Being VRBO owners ourselves, we probably have a more critical eye than most guests - but there is nothing here to criticize! This darling little apartment is fantastically clean, airy and bright - pleasing in every way. The bed and linens were luxuriously comfortable, and the little extra touches throughout evidence Sally and Ron's desire to make you feel special. Even though it is attached to the main house, it is very private and your privacy is respected. We would highly recommend this property to anyone who is considering it.

My friends and I had an excellent time at the rental home. There were fresh flowers and a stocked kitchen when we arrived - Sally was incredibly accommodating. The treehouse and large windows overlooking the garden were such a treat. It's close enough to wineries and shopping and scenic countryside, but also close to Portland and/or Salem for day trips. Our visit to McMinnville was a short, busy stay but we absolutely recommend this rental and will certainly keep it in mind for future visits!

Relaxing and Calming Atmosphere

Date of Stay: 08/24/11 Review Submitted: 08/28/11

Our stay here for three nights and four days was very different from previous visits to McMinnville. Such gracious hosts, and a pleasant experience compared to staying in one of the local hotels. Personal touches and thoughtfulness are everywhere, inside and out. From fresh garden flowers in almost every room, to a bottle of wine waiting on the counter, we couldn't have felt more comfortable. A stroll down to the fence may grant you the sight of a goat or two, and a climb into the treehouse will treat you to a feast of flowers and birds below. Very clean and well kept with appropriate bedding for the time of year, as well as a large and well stocked kitchen. This home also works well for anyone that has difficulty with stairs, (although accessing the grounds may be a bit more difficult) . My husband walks with a cane and found great joy in the fact that the access is ALL one level, and the shower is wide with a low step-in. And finally, this was a difficult trip for us, as we were leaving our daughter behind to attend nearby Linfield College. Staying here helped us adjust to the area that will become her home for the next four years. Thank you Sally and Ron, once again. It was a treat, and we hope to be back again. And oh, yes..... The jam was "Heavenly"!

Garden Green Oregon Oasis

Date of Stay: 06/15/11 Review Submitted: 07/15/11

We made our way through the Portland sprawl along commercial corridor (Hwy 99) to McMinnville. A short ride from this Willamette Valley artery, the scenery changed to rolling hills dotted with farms, vineyards, flora and fauna; the quintessential, breathtaking agrarian landscape that surrounds this piece of paradise. How thoughtful that our gracious hosts should choose to welcome and share this beautiful, tranquil, comfortable and fully equipped space with a multitude of satisfied and lucky explorers. We took in the beautiful garden, green space, old growth trees and pasture, not really caring what we might find when we were welcomed and oriented to our new "home" by Sally. Our living space was impeccably decorated, warm, immaculately clean and welcoming; framed by picture windows that allowed the breathtaking nature, views and gardens to lull us into the serenity we were so desperately seeking. What we did not anticipate was the stellar attention to detail that our hosts provided in preparation for our arrival and for the enjoyment of our entire stay. We have stayed in many VRBO accommodations and none prior have anticipated and delivered on the needs of the guests like Sally and Ron. An assortment of breakfast foods were provided through the use of a pre-visit questionnaire that aligns the guests’ preferences with what is generously provided. The same is true with regard to either guest assistance or privacy. Valuable reading materials, maps, brochures and a notebook of recommendations served as a guide to the very best of McMinnville and environs. The kitchen was well equipped for those seeking to gather the many agrarian treasures of the valley in exercising their culinary talents. When you bring yourself to leave the homestead; Main Street McMinnville is home to a wonderful farmer's markets, galleries, a great bakery (Red Fox) & The Oregonian's 2011 restaurant of the year (Thistle). We can attest to the recognition and were enamored with the chef/owners commitment to "locally grown" and the artistry and creativity present in the restaurant decor and in the innovative and delectable menu offerings which captured the essence of the all that is gathered and grown in the Valley. We vow to return to this oasis which provided us with the essential characteristics of time well spent - nature, harvest, kindness, creativity, care and compassion. The people of the Valley are truly special and their pursuits worthy of recognition & replication!

Thank you so very much for another wonderfully relaxing and rejuvenating stay here at your "Low Heaven Farm." It was perfect in every way. Mom and I had a chance to explore new parts of the valley and coast, and Dave and I really set afar to Bend, Sisters, and the Cascade Range as well as Forest Park in Portland. With each visit my appreciation for the land and people of Oregon increases. And it is very special to get to know both of you, and Maya, better each visit. Again, many thanks for a fabulous stay -- it's hard to leave! Happy gardening -- the peonies are waiting!

Listing & photos do not give property justice - it is simply a wonderful place to stay. This was our second year to spend a week in this well furnished, quiet, very pleasant home. I would recommend this property without hesitation. Both years everything was clean, breakfast items were fantastic - close to absolutely everything. Thanks so much for sharing the country air, goats, flowers (unbelievable) and fun location.

We had the pleasure of staying with Sally and Ron for 2 nights at the end of June 2011. The apartment was up to date, very very clean, and more than comfortable. The winery resouces provided were perfect for the 4 of us to plan our winery weekend trips at night and it was the perfect place to come home and crash at night. The food that was provided for breakfast was wonderful and the tree house was such a nice and relaxing way to end the night overlooking the beautiful countryside. Sally and Ron were so attentive in planning our trip and during our stay. They truly thought of everything and really made you feel at home. I only returned home today and have already passed along their information to my parents and a couple friends. We had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to go back in a instant! Thank you for a wonderful trip!

Charming cottage, very comfortable, centrally located, wonderful hosts

My wife and I have rented a lot of vacation homes over the years and rarely have we found one as comfortable, well supplied and set up as Sally's and Ron's cottage in the center of Oregon's Wine country. They have taken great pains to make a stress free holiday with a very comfortable and very large cottage with an amazing, well supplied kitchen, excellent if you enjoy cooking! The place was immaculate, well appointed and had some interesting features such as a beautiful, well constructed tree house, wonderfull flowers and well stocked garden, available for picking some fresh produce and herbs. There was a lot of thought into setting the place up with nightlights, lots of comforters and easy to find lightswitches and outlets. They provided an ample pantry with more food than we could eat in a week! The location is excellent. Close to many wineries, a downtown Historic shopping area and easy access to many of Oregons top dining destinations. They had excellent material on the sights and what to do's in the area. We were very comfortable and plan on returning again in the future. Both Sally and Ron are very accomidationing hosts, friendly yet sensitive to your privacy. We had no idea there were even around and had to invite them down for some wine one evening, otherwise we woujld of never seen them. Sally was spot on with her dinning recommendations and providing directions to local attractions including the Farmers market that is a not miss afternoon, espeically if you want to take advantgage of the excellent produce, seafood, local pork and beef, cheeses... It was a wonderful farmers market and we had the best dinner of our trip that night after returning home. Oh and the goats were very friendly!

Heaven in Oregon

Date of Stay: 07/01/10 Review Submitted: 07/28/10

We stayed 18 days at Low Heaven and it became a home away from home.We made day trips to covered bridges, lighthouses, Oregan Botanical Garden, specialty nursery's, Portland for museums etc, many vineyards for wine tasting and loved exploring the back roads and gourmet restaurants for incredible north west sea food. The location was in the center of everything. The photos were absolutely accurate, the setting aesthetically pleasing with gardens and birds. We had salads from Sally's garden, plums from their orchard, freshly baked scones from Sally's oven. They were accessible to help, make recommendations yet provided all the privacy one would want. WE WILL RETURN!!!!! + we are telling everyone we know to go and spend time there. Jim and Suzanne Irvine, California

My husband and I stayed for several nights at this beautiful apartment recently, touring the wine country and aviation museum with our dear friends. The apartment is very clean with beautiful bamboo floors and updated furniture with a designer's touches throughout. We slept the best we have in months, partly due to the extremely comfortable queen size bed, and we normally sleep on a king size bed! The warm hospitality of the owners, quiet country setting, and a variety of activities nearby make this property exceptional. The owner's are great tour guides and can give you experienced advice on restaurant choices and a variety of local activities. We have already recommended this property/listing to several friends, and we hope to get back to this "slice of paradise" as soon as possible!

We spent four nights here in late September 2009 with our daughter. The house is beautifully decorated, so you don't even feel like you're in a rental! The view and natural light from the living room is amazing. About ten minutes to downtown McMinnville, the house is just outside of town and it really feels like you are in the country. There are over 200 wineries within 15-30 minutes from the house and relaxing scenery all around, including alpacas, goats and a huge treehouse on the property itself. Sally and Ron were wonderful hosts and the breakfast food provided was very thoughtful. Sally made applesauce from their tree for our daughter and picked grapes from the property as well. Both were delicious! We would gladly stay here again when in the area. It was only 30-45 minutes to Portland and a great start to our trip to Oregon. Thank you --

Ron and Sally's beautiful guest house was the perfect 3 day get-away we were looking for. We loved the peaceful country setting as well as the convenience of being close to McMinnville. With Ron's helpful directions and Sally's information binder and handouts we spent our days exploring the surrounding area as well as an awesome drive through backroads to the Coast. We made sure to return in plenty of time to enjoy our daily visit with Billy and the other friendly goats, the alpacas and the neighbors' beautiful horses. It was fun to see the goats running to visit with us! From their garden Ron picked sun-ripened cherry tomatoes as well as several varieties of grapes for us to try and they provided more (breakfast) food than we could have possibly eaten! Yes, I would definitely stay here again and I recommend it to everyone.

This place is even better than it looks. The gardens really do wrap around the home, and there must be over 50 rose bushes, alone. The house sits on farm land, so it feels very secluded (except for the goats and alpacas, of course), yet it is very close to McMinnville -- including restaurants and tasting rooms. We chose to stay here in large part because of the other positive comments, and it was even better than the comments show. Sally provided more food than we requested (including fruit fresh from their orchard and homemade muffins). I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

My mother and I spent four relaxing nights here in Sally and Ron's guesthouse. Truly, words are difficult to find to fully describe the gorgeous setting. The home is so livable and pretty with its bamboo floors and fantastic kitchen and with its windows overlooking pastures, flower gardens, and a treehouse. Perfect place from which to explore the Willamette Valley and even get in a day trip to the coast. And, as if this isn't enough, it is made even more special by the graciousness of the owners.

A super getaway – lovely, spacious, light, private apartment with a gorgeous view. Alpaca and goats roam the rolling green fields. We stayed in late May and the garden was magnificent. We were supplied with ample, delicious breakfast items by fun and enjoyable hosts. Couch in living room made into a great bed for our traveling companion. Enjoyed wine from the surrounding vineyards in Sally and Ron’s unbelievable tree house. When we need to relax on hectic days, instead of dreaming of a palm studded island, we’ll be thinking of sitting three stories up in that big, beautiful tree. We’ll be back! Just like coming home only better. A wonderful fairy tale setting among the large oak trees (and tree house), beautiful flowers, birds, farm cats, goats, alpacas and a rascally raccoon. We were just content to BE but Sally and Ron took it one step further. This apartment is nicely decorated and comfortable. A variety of breakfast goodies supplied by Sally kept us full all week. They also supplied us with all the local information we needed. This is a great location to relax but is also a convenient location to visit wineries and the fun downtown area. Quaint and charming. Lovely countryside setting just outside of McMinnville. All the amenities included that you need for a relaxing retreat. Very cool bathroom and a cozy bedroom.

We had the pleasure of staying here 2 nights on Valentine's Day weekend. The pictures don't do this place justice! The apartment was the perfect home away from home - very clean and comfortable. The main living area had tons of windows to let in the light and from which we enjoyed the gorgeous view. I can only imagine how beautiful it must be in Spring/Summer with everything blooming! The owners of the apartment were very gracious and friendly.
