This unique Mountain House sits on 25 acres and is located one mile off US Highway, Route 3. We are about 165 miles to downtown Boston and 115 miles from the Manchester, N.H. airport. This custom built 2000 square foot home has one of the finest southern views of any house in the region. Martin Meadow Pond also offers some of the best fishing of any small lake or pond within 20 miles.
If you love to hike or just nature walk, you don't even have to get in your car and drive. Don't be surprised if while on that walk you see a moose feeding in the fields down the road from us. Bird lovers will also be in heaven by the abundance of numbers and variety of species that love to hangout in our hardwood forest. If you enjoy skiing, Bretton Woods Ski Resort is only a 20 minute drive from the house; and only 10 minutes further is Cannon Mountain. Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2007
I grew up spending most of my life in the South. I manage a family business but, my position can best be summed up as a property manager.
Why the Owner Chose Whitefield
My wife and I really knew nothing about the New England area. It wasn't until we were invited by friends to visit Northern New Hampshire in 2005 that I realized I had been missing a wonderful area. The area blew me away with its natural beauty that I had never experienced in the flatlands.
In 2006 we bought some raw land with the intention of building on our own 80 acre subdivision. Before we built our road, our realtor alerted us to this mountain house on 25 acres with beautiful Southern views. It was an easy decision to go forward to making this house a family retreat during the harsh summers in Florida.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Location, location, location. We love to be isolated but, also love to be close enough to get to the grocery store and other shopping in ten minutes. Being very close to some great fishing and kayaking ponds is important. When we want to go sking we are only 18 miles from Bretton Woods. If we are in the mood to go hiking, we have numerous places to go within 10-25 minutes.

We had a great stay over 4 days. We were our most relaxed in years wile at our stay. The home was well equipped from the kitchen to games. We were able to cook as we would at home and enjoy a warm cozy home during our stay. I can't wait to book another stay. Lou, the person who cares for the home was very nice and very helpful. He made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. It really doesn't get any better than this location.

BEST HOUSE WE'VE EVER RENTED!

We have rented many vacation houses and this one is now by far our favorite. We stayed here for a week in August with plans to do a lot of hiking alternated with just relaxing with a good book and it was beyond perfect in all ways (and we are very particular about where we stay!) The house is gorgeous and immaculate- even more beautiful in person than the photos can show. It is fabulously equipped and there is nothing one could want that is not supplied. The owner,Kevin and local caretaker, Lou were tremendously accommodating, making sure that all of our questions were answered and that we had everything we could possibly need. The huge deck with its one-in-a-million view of the mountains was our favorite place to sit with a drink, a book, and to just relax. There's also a wonderful screened porch with super comfortable seating. The house is located in a wonderful area where all activities are easily accessible but you feel a million miles away when you return "home" to this idyllic, totally private mountain retreat at the end of a busy day. It is so quiet, peaceful and relaxing - we even spent one whole day not leaving the house at all. We highly recommend this house! You will not be disappointed !

Three of my adult children and I spent two delightful nights here while attending a weekend wedding at a local venue. The climb up the mountain was a little frightening for us folks from the Arkansas delta, but the view from the top was spectacular! Our only negative was when four of us tried to get ready to go out, we had a hot water shortage. Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Owner response:Thanks for the taking the time to write your review. We apoligize for the hot water shortage. I talked with Lou (caretaker) and he mentioned that the hot water heater probably needed to be flushed out. We have taken care of the water heater and it was in need of a flushing out. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

My wife and I spent a long weekend here for our one year anniversary and had a wonderful time. We love the White Mountains and I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a beautiful and private place to stay. It has spectacular views of the Presidential Mountains. Even the bedroom in the loft has a window overlooking the Mountains when you wake up in the morning. There is a huge wrap aroung porch with a screened in section on one end. We spent a day in the Jackson/North Conway area, very romantic and a beautinful drive over on Route 302. Stop by Fabyans for lunch, Its right at the base of Mt. Washington and Bretton Woods Ski Resort is right across the street. Another day we spent snowmobiling all the way to Cannon Mountain, an absolutely beautiful ride. We have our own snowmobiles, but there are rentals near by. Kevin (owner) and Lou (caretaker) are both great to deal with. Its also a great spot to relax, do nothing at all and just take in the view! I definately recommend this home.

The cabin was clean and stocked with ll the necessary supplies (towels, utensils, board games etc). The views from the wrap around porch were incredible allowing you to see Mt Washington in the distance. Thanks to Kevin and Lou for a great place to stay. I recommend this cabin for both summer and winter getaways!

We spent a weekend here and couldn't have asked for more. The house was immaculate and very comfortable even though we had a 3 month old baby, a pregnant woman and two 60+ folks. The kitchen was well stocked, linens and firewood plenty. But most importantly, we were blown away by the views!! The pictures here don't do justice to how beautiful the colors looked from just about any part of the house! We will definitely visit again, and this time plan to spend more time exploring the nature around the house itself!

If you like porches, views, peace and quiet this is the place for you! Beautiful wrap around porch including a screened in portion (this is where we spent our time). This home is beautifully cared for, comfortable, clean and cozy. The 3 bedrooms are separate which provides a great amount of privacy for everyone. The owner was great to work with! We enjoyed our time here and hope to return next year. Bring your 4 wheel drive vehicle; the driveway is a bit intimidating but once you make it up the first time it seems easier each time after.
Owner response:Most of the time to get an awesome view you need to climb or drive up a road with some incline. Our driveway is steep but very safe. In September 2009 we spent around $20,000 redoing the top layer with ledgepack gravel and increasing our parking area by 20% Thanks Larry for taking great care of the house..

We've stayed here four times and every time I leave, I can't wait to come back. The views of the front porch are worth the price alone. I can't wait to wake-up every morning and drink my coffee on the front porch and soak in the views! Because the home is located on 25 acres it's so private and tranquil, yet it's still close to everything we like to do, hiking, skiing, snow shoeing, canoeing, etc. We head out for a day of adventure and then return to our own private retreat. The home is very clean and I think the home actually looks better in person than the pictures show. It has very nice flat screen TV with DVD player and satellite TV. It also has a washer and dryer, which we always seem to need to use. The owner was very easy to work with and he has a local care taker that checked us in and was a great help in pointing out some local spots. I'd definitely recommend this place!!!

Best place I've been in the summer to escape the heat and humidity of my hometown of Tampa, FL. The mornings were comfortably crisp and the days mild. The impeccable vistas from the screened deck were a welcome bonus. I didn't want to leave! Highly recommended getaway.
