Great cottage for a valley getaway!

We had a great weekend at this cottage with our two young children and my in-laws. The cottage was well-equipped with the plenty of kitchen necessities. Everything was in working order and was quite clean. The owner was very communicative and responsive leading up to our stay and checked in with us afterward as well. Very happy and would gladly recommend to everyone I know!

This is the third time we've stayed at Mt. Whisper and we'll definitely be back for a fourth. It's a great weekend retreat where we like relaxing on the back porch and in the hot tub.

We enjoyed the house. It was neat and clean. The cable, heating, hottub, and washing machines all worked well. The one minor incovenience was that we had to carry our garbage to a site we had to drive to.
Owner response:It is always nice to hear back from customers. Mountain Whisper takes great pride in providing a beautiful clean cabin for our guest to relax and enjoy the Valley. Guest do not need to take the trash out. You can bring it down the hill to Shenandoah River Outfitters if you like, or leave it for us to pick up after your stay. Thank you Andrea for sharing with us your beautiful cabin. We enjoyed a restful stay. The cabin was clean, spacious for our family. The fireplace and the hot tub were perfect, specially in winter. The detailled brochures were very helpful for local attractions and we had a wonderful hiking to Shenandoah Valley Park. All in all this was a nice stay for our family. It would have been good if there were curtains at the front window (even thought there was not privacy issue) We are looking forward to our next visit..

Our group of four was very happy with Mountain Whisper Cabin. The cabin had rave reviews from each guest in our party. The cabin is excellent in every way - very well maintained with extensive amenities in excellent condition, as was the outside and inside of the building. It was perfect - even better than the photos showed in the advertising literature. The owner was very kind and answered all questions well and with concern, as we booked. We have recommended Mountain Whisper Cabin to friends already, and will continue to do so. When next we visit the Valley, we will reserve Mountain Whisper Cabin. Doing that will ensure a great vacation!

Everything you see on line is what you get. Cabin was very clean, and the grounds well kept. Kitchen is adequately equipped. Close to River Outfitters for your river activities, restaurants about 20 minutes away.All in all, a very enjoyable stay. Scott

Mouse Problem

There were mice. I understand that there are going to be mice in the country, but I didn't expect to see them or have to catch them. The first night we were there, we had 3 mouse sightings. They came out into well lit rooms, that had noise and activity going on. I emailed the owner and explained that I believed she had a mouse problem, and asked if we could have a refund if it persisted. She told us that it was one mouse and not a mouse problem. She also told us she knew about it, but didn't want us to walk into our rental with a dead mouse in a trap. But, we were told she couldn't refund our money because there were mice in the country, even though we were willing to pay for the one night we already stayed. Instead, she had us put down traps and catch it ourselves. The next night, we caught two mice. We might have caught more, but we only had two traps. We asked her to bring us more, but she said she wasn't coming out there and to either buy more traps and be reimbursed or pull the dead mice out of the traps and reuse them. To me, this was very poor customer service, and too much to ask of someone paying a good deal of money per night for a mountain cabin that has no view of the mountains. I would have given this a much better review had it not been for our experience with the owner.
Owner response:The cabin on a rare occasion will have a mouse, it is not common for a mouse to show its face. When mouse droppings are noticed I set traps in the house between customers. I also place traps under the house out of view. I offered the customer mouse traps, which he used. I did not catch any further mice after his stay, nor have I had any customers complain about mice. Mountain Whisper takes great pride in providing a clean and comfortable cabin. Mountain Whisper Cabin does not advertise "Mountain Views." The cabin is nestled in the woods. The Falling Leaf cabin does have "Mountain Views," perhaps the gentlemen mixed up the cabin he booked with Mountain Whisper Cabins. Andrea

We had a great weekend at mountain whisper. The house very clean and well appointed. The hot tub was fantastic!! My only complaints are that someone had turned the heat completely off before we arrived so the first night was very chilly and the fireplace fills the house with a very strong smell of gas, so we did not use it much. But overall it was a lovely retreat from the city.
Owner response:The Mountain Whisper cabin is family owned and operated. We take great pride in providing a clean and comfortable cabin. The heat is always left on at 65 degrees for the customers. The gas logs do not smell strongly of gas, unless one uses scented candles or air freshener. The smell of the scent reacts with the gas logs and leaves a harmless odor.

We are so grateful to have found this cabin! Thank you, Andrea, for the marvelous touches you have added - from thoughtful decor to (our favorites) a screened porch & hot tub! We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - from visiting the caverns to paddling the Shenandoah to hiking White Oak Canyon. Again you have a wonderful eye - the way you've set up the cabin aesthetically. Thanks so much for putting the art into the rental--

Our family of 5 had an excellent time in your beautiful cabin. The hot tub was perfect at the end of a long day of hiking Old Rag. It was a great place to kick back and relax.
