Well, I tried put up a picture of Kermit the frog to grab your attention but VRBO objected. What does a beach home have to do with a famous frog? Not much. Brenda and I have been lucky to be part time residents at Topsail beach for four decades. We have seen many homes with earth tone colors, plaid fabrics, etc. that would look quite good inland but out of place at the beach. It seemed to us that light and color were called for. When our friends built the Summerwinds Condos there was a special one that appealed to us much more than the others. We jumped in and bought it and proceeded to decorate with as much color as we thought tasteful. When we finished rainbows naturally came to mind - the colorful symbol of promise. Free associating we thought of our favorite muppet (yes, we're muppet fans) sitting on a lily pad with a banjo and singing our favorite waltz - "The Rainbow Connection". The named seemed a natural.
Topsail island is somewhat anachronistic. It has not allowed high rise buildings and is almost entirely private homes. This means that even at peak times the beach is uncrowded compared to much of the east coast. In spring and fall you can even walk miles and not see more than a few people if that many. The beach itself is wide and beautiful and is a very short walk from the condo. Should you tire of the beach there are golf courses, amusements nearby and of course Wilmington is a short 30 minute drive. For the kids there is a city park next door and of course the complex has a pool.
The living and dining areas surround a kitchen with maple cabinets, granite counters, bar stools and any amenity you might need. There are two masters bedrooms, one upstairs. All four bedrooms have queen beds. There are two living areas with very comfortable couches and recliners upstairs. There is a flat screen HD TV in each living area. The deck has a table and chairs for outside dining with a beautiful view of the ocean.
