Ideal rental for a family (we're a couple with two children, aged 9 and 6) or even two couples, as there are two good-sized bedrooms and two fully functional bathrooms too. The rooms are spacious, with high ceilings, and retain original period detail, as do the furnishings. The place has character and personality--not that identikit hotel-room feel you find in many vacation rentals, and the adjoining garden is lovely. The kitchen is fully equipped with a good battery of pots and pans, so you can easily profit from the excellent local ingredients found at the farmers's markets. Lunches on the sunny deck were a highpoint of our stay, though you do get a bit of traffic noise. The owner is friendly and helpful, and dealt quickly and efficiently with a couple of minor issues that arose. We're definitely hoping to come back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The Victorian flat sits in a great location, a leisurely walk to downtown Mill Valley and close to Mama's Royal Café. Speaking of which, Candy -- who owns both this Victorian and Mama's -- is a great host. She went out of her way to make sure that we had everything that we needed.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, pet owners, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

About the owner: I am retired, and co-own this property with my girl friend Candace Paine, owner of Mama's Royal Cafe. We have known each other over 25 years. I owned Fred McCarthy Painting for 30+ years in Mill Valley and haave lived here for close to 40 years. After retiring I passed my business on to my nephew Greg, who continues to operate my painting business in Mill Valley today. I love to find "treasures" in antique stores, flea markets and junk yards. I truly like the nuances of older things, and have the mentality ...."they do not make things like they used to". I have one son named Joe, who lives with his wife, and my 2 grandchildren in Idaho. He helps me do this internet stuff. I enjoy fixing up old properties and putting the life back into them. This Victorian treasure has become my biggest pride and joy. You shoul come check it out!
Why the Owner Chose Mill Valley:
Well thats a long story, but it was not really planned. We furnished the apartment for a lady that backed out last minute, so we decided to give the short term rental business a try.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Central location, Old Bay Area Charm, Restored antiques, a nice deck with barbecue, internet, washer/dryer, and quick walk to Mamas Royal Cafe (the best breakfast in town)
