Location: Surfside Beach, Gulf Coast, Texas, USA (Houston-70 Mi, City of Galveston-32 Mi) View Map
Accommodations: House, 4 Bedrooms + Den, 3 Baths (Sleeps 10-11)
Take advantage of the beautiful fall weather on the Texas Coast...activities available include bay fishing, surf fishing, offshore fishing, bird watching, wind surfing, surfing, shelling, crabbing, kayaking, and, of course, relaxing at the beach.
Fully enjoy the beauty of the upper Texas Gulf Coast from our house situated between the beach and the bay. Fish House is located between Galveston and Surfside in an area of the coast with wide, undeveloped beaches and lots of room to explore. A 200 yard walk from our house puts you on the beach, and a 100 yard walk puts you in the middle of a teeming crabbing fishery. There are also beach access roads within 1/4 mile of the house which makes transporting the toys and sun shade to the beach an easy trip.
Fish House is our family’s second home designed by us and completed in late 2008. We have young children, so the house is kid-friendly and stocked with inside and beach toys. Fine design and material finishes make this a fun house to visit. We call it "Fish House" since we love to fish in the area. Fish House is located in a new subdivision in which seven beautiful new homes were built during 2008. There are no houses immediately adjacent to Fish House affording you a measure of privacy, sweeping views and plenty of room to spread out.
Fish House is a two story house with a modern style that covers approximately 2,100 square feet. Downstairs the kitchen is open to the dining area and a living room, and there is a large laundry room and the master bedroom. The master bedroom contains a small couch and a clawfoot tub for two. The kitchen island and its barstools together with the dining table allow for sit down dining for 10-12. Two refrigerators provide storage for all of the food and drinks your family can handle. The kitchen fridge and the drinking water faucet at the kitchen sink have Reverse Osmosis water for pure drinking water and ice. Upstairs is a living room with a large flat screen TV, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Two bedrooms contain queen beds, one having its own balcony facing Drum Bay. The third bedroom contains a full bed, bunk beds and a “pack and play” crib. All bedrooms have views to the water.
The deck wraps around three sides of the house and provides a huge outdoor living area with views of the beach and the bay and up and down the island. From our deck you can take in the beautiful sunrise with a fresh cup of coffee, and finish the day sipping a margarita with the sunset as your backdrop. You can sit on the deck and watch birds and fishermen work the bay and the kite surfers and sailboats frolic in the surf. The main portion of our deck, on the east side of the house, is shaded by the house from the afternoon sun and catches the cool ocean breezes all day long.
In addition to the swimmers and sunbathers, our area of the beach draws traditional surfers, kite surfers, Hobie Cat sailboats and fishermen depending on the state of the wind. Our house is an excellent place from which to fish the bay with a powerboat or kayak (there is a small boat ramp within ½ mile from the house and places to launch kayaks all up and down the island). Offshore fishing is convenient too if that is your pleasure. The Surfside area is home to many fishing guides who can put you on the fish during your stay.
Lake Jackson includes many entertainment and dining opportunities and holds Sea Center Texas which is a wonderful trip for young and old alike. Galveston provides many entertainment and dining opportunities as well including theater, music, a water park and lots more. Several nice golf courses in Galveston and Lake Jackson are easy to reach. Surfside and Freeport have several good restaurants all within a few miles. Winter time provides wonderful bird watching right behind the house in the bird sanctuary managed by the Cradle of Texas Conservancy. The diversity of the area’s ecosystem is stunning.
Finally, getting there and back home is an easy 70 minute drive down 288 from Houston.

Texas Fish House: New with Beach and Bay Views!
Year Purchased: 2008
Why the Owner Chose Surfside Beach
Fish House offers access to the beach, fishing and other nearby activities and is a way to get away from the busy city of Houston. We like to fish in the bay, surf and offshore. The location is perfect for a Houstonian needing to take an easy vacation.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We enjoy swimming, building things in the sand, watching birds, boats and water, fishing, and being with friends and family. The deck offers us great views of the beach, bay and especially beautiful sunsets. While at the house, we spend a lot of time cooking and making merry. There is a nice, new fish market on 332 just before the bridge leading into Surfside which has become a regular stop on the way to Fish House. We have also found the winter at Fish House to be especially beautiful!
