RELAXATION AND BEACH FUN, TOO LAURA IS A WONDERFUL HOSTESS, SHE IS VERY HELPFUL IN HELPING MAKE THE BEST DECISIONS FOR YOUR VACATION. WE HAD EVERYTHING WE NEEDED AND A WONDERFUL TIME. MY DAUGHTER ESPECIALLY ENJOYED THE STAIRS, SHE HAS BEEN WANTING A HOUSEWITH STAIRS. LAURA AND MATT HAVE AN INCREDIBLE HOME, EASILY LIVABLE AND EASYCLEANUP. THE HOME IS A DREAM: MOOD, COLORS, AND COMFORT FLOw BEAUTIFULLY THROUGHOUT AND THE VIEWS ARE MESMORIZING. THERE ARE MANY ATTRACTIONS, RESAURANTS, AND FISHING OPPORTUNITIES BUT WHEN I TRAVEL, I PREFER TO RELAX AND NOT INTERFERE MY VISIT WITH INTERRUPTIONS OTHER THAN THE MOMENT.

Wonderful Family Trip

We stayed at the Fish House the last week of February and had a wonderful and relaxing weekend. My husband has been out of the country working for the past 90 days, he wanted a fun and relaxing place to go to relax, reconnect and have fun and the Fish House was the place. The owners were great and easy to work with. The house is beautiful, clean and has a great floorplan. Everything we needed was there, we only had to bring food and seasonings. We are already talking about staying there on his next visit home.

Amazingly secluded

The owners were very kind to let my family (5 children) and very weary of work husband squeeze in two days at their home with only a few hours notice. There were no houses next to us so it was very private. It is on the bay side of the road which we didn't realize so it took a little while in the dark to find it. We enjoyed this though because the bay has many birds and it makes it more private. The home was exceptionally clean though we had to make our own beds. There were plenty of towels, beach things and kitchen equipment though they could use a cutting board and a few more sharp knives. We loved the lay out of the home and if we ever get to build might imitate it. We do hope to return. Even for a weekend in June it was pretty vacant. One other thought, the master bedroom on the first floor didn't have a shower just the tub but we got used to it though not preferred. Thank you so much!

Owner response:Thank you. We are glad yall had a good time. We have ensured that there are sharp knives and cutting boards at the house! If you like the birds in summer, you would be blown away through the winter. We hope you will consider renting for a week in the future to take full advantage of what the area has to offer.

What a wonderful place!! It was everything I expected and more, from the online description and photos. The view and deck outside are GREAT. The "Fish House" was very clean with a nice open atmosphere. I promise you will love it.

We just returned from a four day stay at Fish House, Sept 9th - 12th. What a wonderful place. The decks and views are just fabulous! We did not have to worry about our three little girls roaming around as the decks and house are very child friendly! Very private setting was nice. We loved it and will return next year for a longer stay. Thank you Forrester family for providing such a lovely home for our use.

Outstanding!!! Everything was perfect. If I had known how well-equipped the kitchen was, I would have brought far less of my own stuff, wow! The house is first class and the views are incredible. Our kids are 18, 20, and 22. Everyone had their own room with incredible views of the beach or bay. Our Mastiff Lucy also had an awesome time! I cooked everything from Filet Mignon Tenderloin to Prime Ribeye to Fried Catfish with all the trimmings. Cooks/Chefs, don't bring anything except the food and your spices; it's all there! I highly recommend this house!!

Our family stayed at Fish House over the 4th of July week. Having stayed in about 10 VRBO houses, I have to say this one lives up to everything in the pictures and listed on the website! We enjoyed all our space the two refrigerators were a big plus for our group. The beach and bay were wonderful from the deck, especially with morning and evening beverages. We were able to "contain" the little one on the deck; no nerves were frayed. We are planning on a return visit, for sure!!

We stayed at Fish House for five days June 13-18 and wish we could have stayed five months! It was great! There was plenty of room for the 10 of us to spread out in the spacious house and the decks are wonderful! It's just a short walk to the beach, which was VERY quiet during the time we were there, almost like having our own private area. The view of both the bay and the beach are gorgeous. Fish House is a great place to relax and enjoy your family!

05/15-5/22/2010...Our stay at the Fish House was most relaxing. The property is very nice, and fortunately, no neighbors are close, so you get a very quiet and secluded stay. Unfortunately, many weather fronts came through during our stay, which made our fishing success a little slow, but all the same we had a great time. We did catch many crabs and one large redfish! The storms skirted around us all week, and we got to view a fantastic lightning show one night too! Kayaking was fun and our dogs had a great time at the beach. Thanks Mr. and Mrs. Forrester for sharing your beautiful home with us....Roger and Belinda

My family had a great time at Fish house. We loved this house!! We have 2 small children and the house was set up just perfect!! It was wonderful to not have to worry about child proofing the place. The views were just awesome from the deck!! We stayed for 7 days and were busy the entire time!! My husband loved the fishing, the kids loved the beach and I loved everything!! This review is a little late and I'm sorry I didn't do this sooner!! But we were there last year in May for a last min family vacation... We go down to Surfside every year and have stayed at the FishHouse twice now and it's been wonderful both times, that's why we are so bummed it's already all booked up on the dates we wanted :( Maybe next year we'll jump on the wagon sooner =) Hopefully you all enjoy your time and memories as much as we did. Thanks so much to the Fosters for generously letting us stay at their place and we hope to stay there again! :) Kidd Family-FTW

Fish House... a great relaxing getaway with friends

We visited Fish House in early March and it most definitely exceeded our expectations. The layout of the house is just perfect for a larger group. Our children loved this place! The huge open kitchen was great for mealtime with kids. The porch was breezy and mosquito free. The windows looking in all directions made us so glad not to be in Houston proper, but enjoying nature. The house is tastefully decorated, and everything you need seems to be just where you need it to be. We hope to go back again! Oh and check out the cool aquarium not too far from here... definitely worth a visit...

Owner response:I wish we could guarantee that the deck is always mosquito free! Though, if there is a breeze, the deck is usually better than being on the ground, even if there are mosquitos! ;)

We had a fantastic time at the Fish House, the place is wonderful. We brought our kids for a Thanksgiving get away and could not have been happier. We were just far enough away from town to have the beach to ourselves and just close enough to find the things we forgot to bring. We will come back

We stayed at Fish House for 4 nights over the New Year holiday. We loved this house!! The weather was cold and windy, even rained a bit. As a result of this we stayed inside a bunch and did a lot of cooking. It was so great! This house was so nice and clean, organized, and well equipt. I can promise this we will be back! What a wonderful house to stay in for vacation -- we have two boys, ages 4 and 5, and they loved going to the beach every day, and playing inside the Fish house with their toys. The bunk beds were especially a great hit! My parents, husband and I enjoyed fishing in Drum Bay and in the surf off the beach... caught many fish: flounder, ladyfish, red fish, croaker, 1 baby shark (in the surf), catfish and we cast nets for mullet and caught several for bait in the surf. The location of Fish house really is ideal - easy to come and go any time of day to the beach or to Drum Bay - our little guys walked sometimes and rode in the car sometimes. We drove to Galveston one day for ice cream on the Strand, it only took about 45 minutes. We cooked every night at Fish house - the kitchen is well equipped and easy to clean and organize. One evening we ate outside on the deck (cooked our fish from Drum Bay - delicious!). Truly a wonderful experience. Thanks Laura & Matt!

Fish House provided exactly the vacation retreat we and our family desired. We enjoyed fishing, swimming and even cooking in the well-equipped, lovely kitchen. In Drum Bay, we caught two croakers, one flounder, a ladyfish and a redfish. In the Gulf, we caught one speckled trout and one shark! All was as advertised: exceptionally nice!

Your house exceeded our expectations. The house is beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. You stocked the kitchen with all the cooking essentials we could possibly need. One of the most important things that I look at when I’m home away from home is if the accommodations are clean. This house was spotless and I didn’t feel like I needed to go in and clean before unpacking.The views from the house were wonderful; I saw ships daily on the intercostals water off the back deck. The house is isolated enough for privacy to set on the deck watching the moon and stars but close enough to take strolls on the beach at anytime. My husband found he loved surf fishing, or fishing as well in the bay behind the house. We had a wonderful time at the Fish House and would highly recommend anyone of any age to visit your home.

The house is beautiful, spacious, and so peaceful. Each evening I sat on the front porch and enjoyed the lovely breeze blowing off the gulf waters. In the mornings I sat on the back porch and enjoyed the serenity with a cup of coffee. The large kitchen with the island made preparing meals fun and easy. It is a great place to center and totally relax. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely home.

We had such a wonderful time at your place! We were extremely sad to leave. We had fantastic weather all week except for Sunday it rained all day and we had several power outages but.... the house accomodated us all well. The views from all the sides of the porches were incredible. we loved watching the sunset and the visits from pink flamingos!!! Amazingly, the mosquitos weren't an issue until Sunday. The house was incredibly spacious and surpased our expectations. We were even contemplating staying a few extra days but.... we had to come back to reality. Can you believe that we only watched one movie the whole time we were there??!!! Thanks for sharing your home with us.
