Location: Munich, Germany, Europe (Short Walk to Oktoberfest and to Marienplatz. Near River.)
Accommodations: Studio, 1 Bedroom + No additional sleeping rooms avail, 1 Bath (Sleeps 1-3)
Keywords: Studio Apartment
Our studio apartment was completely renovated in 2007. With large windows and nearly 14 foot ceilings, you will feel like you are in a much larger apartment. Though a studio, the kitchen is separated from the living/sleeping area by a wall. From the kitchen you walk into the bathroom with its large shower. The shower has a built-in ledge on which you can sit while showering.
Be sure and have dinner at Makassar restaurant around the corner. This French Colonial restaurant is run by Jacques Costeau's former chef onboard Calypso. The neighborhood is known as the Dreimühlenviertel and is part of Munich's Glockenbachviertel, an eclectic mix of retired nuns, young couples with and without children, singles, restaurants, great shopping and a wonderful coffee shop not to be missed, Aroma.
The apartment is on the ground floor inside the buildings courtyard. It is very quiet while still being in the middle of the city. Just one block away is the Isar River. Stroll South against the flow of the river to the Flaucher Bier Garten. In the Spring and Summer the beer garden is full of people enjoying friends and family. Live music is also often offered. Cross over the wooden Flaucher Bridge and stroll the few meters to the city's zoo. It is a real treat for kids of all ages.
Find out why Munich is known as Italy's northern most city.

Just Perfect

My husband and I stayed in this apartment in November and it was absolutely perfect. Very handy to transport, extremely clean, more than comfortable, walking distance to supermarket. We did have problems connecting to the internet. Overall, I would highly recommend the accommodation. Evereything to do with the booking went smoothly and the hosts were very friendly and accommodating.

Unexpected Surprises and Best Choice

Our first unexpected surprise was that we were lucky to be able to find a unit for Octoberfest 2011 within walking distance of the festivities, but things just kept getting better. Upon arrival, we were graciously greeted; we were given hands-on operational instructions for everything electronic; and provided with numerous ‘take with’ detailed maps showing markets, shopping, and transportation points which linked us to all Munich has to offer (without the necessity of a personal car). We were quietly tucked into a thriving neighborhood behind a huge massive traditional solid wooden door where several apartments shared a large secure tree and plant filled courtyard. There were excellent restaurants that, literally, were just a short walk around the corner where the food, beer, and wines were only surpassed by the open friendliness of the local residents that asked to join us and lingered long after dessert and that last glass of wine. For us, our stay was not only full of surprises, but was a excellent lucky choice. We hope to return often.
Owner response:Thank you so much for the kind words. We are very happy you enjoyed your stay and we would love to have you back. The apartment was perfectly clean when you left. Are you sure you spent time there? :-) Have a Merry Christmas, Patt and Michael

My husband and I just returned from a 6-day stay in Munich at this wonderful apartment. It was exactly as represented on the website: clean, thoughtfully decorated, comfortable and well appointed with everything we might need. We were greeted on arrival and given an excellent tour of the premises and stack of information about Munich and the transit system. With hotels in Munich being so outrageously priced (and generally located in the noisy old town area or charmless train station neighborhood), this apartment was an excellent alternative. We felt like locals instead of tourists, and saved money doing it. Would highly recommend this place to all.
Owner response:Jody - So thrilled you enjoyed yourselves and thank you for the very kind review. We also find the area around the train station not so nice. Michael and I hope to welcome you back to Munich again soon. Kind regards, Patterson

Best for access

In June 2011, this apartment was one of three we stayed in, in Paris, Munich and Berlin, all booked through VRBO. While comparisons are difficult with the locations themselves being so different, this one scored best for accessibility, having level access from the legendary 152 bus to the apartment. It also scored best for convenience of access to the nearby well stocked Lidl supermarket. In all respects, the apartment was true to description and after busy days of exploring Munich, it was a joy to return to each evening. Even Anton's weather forecasting as we planned our enjoyable excursion to the country proved more accurate than official sources. When it comes to supplying the little things, everything was covered. Where else would one find a small supply of drawing pins and a paper tape measure? Would we recommend the apartment? Without hesitation!

Munich for 10 days

We stayed in this apartment for 10 days in April/May 2011. We arrived early morning by train and since nobody had stayed the night before, the owner allowed us to take possession at 9:00 AM (Very nice). Anton gave us a quick overview with all the info we needed to get settled. The apartment is very well appointed, comfortable and is very quiet. The transit system in Munich is excellent and this apartment is only about 2 minutes away from a bus stop (bus runs every 10 minutes or so) which takes you into the center of the city and everything you might want to see; so the location is excellent. Easy walk along river and around the area. Nice little bar with very friendly patrons just a few steps down the street. Owner provided lots of useful information in the form of brochures, maps etc in the apartment. Very nice. Would definitely stay here again.
Owner response:Brian - We enjoyed having you as our guests. Our cleaning crew is convinced Canadians are the neatest guests in the world! Kind regards, Patterson

My wife and I just returned from our trip to Europe and we loved staying in this fine property. Comfortable, well-decorated, and a short distance from transit options it served as a great jumping-off point to see the sites of Munich. We'd definitely stay here again and would recommend to others!

We spent a wonderful week at this apartment. It was easy to use public transportation to get around and explore all the markets and museums in town. The high ceilings in the studio make it very spacious feeling. The whole apartment was very well apointed and a very easy place to feel at home. Thanks for a great vacation experience.

My husband and I enjoyed this apartment during our vacation in Munich! It was the perfect size for 2 people. The apartment was clean and just a 20 minute walk to Oktoberfest. Once we learned the public transportation system, we realized we were in a great location -- not far from the sites, but in a very quiet neighborhood when we were ready to relax. Also, Makassar restaurant around the corner is FANTASTIC. We went twice -- the food, service and staff helped make our vacation even more memorable. We highly recommend this studio.

Munich - perfect alternative to a hotel

The apartment was spotlessly clean and well-equipped with radio, TV, DVD player (bring DVDs). We stayed here for a week in August 2010 having travelled from the UK by train. Bus stop 2 minutes away. Bus goes to the Viktualmarkt (food Market selling an array of local produce) and close to the Marienplatz (the Main square) walk in the woods 5 minutes away where we watched Munich residents spending their Sunday by the river. Local shops close by, neighbourhood restaurants round the corner inlcuding an Italian ice cream shop. The weather was superb so we were able to eat outside in the sunshine in the small space outside the apartment. Brilliant for a couple (and a child) wanting an alternative to a hotel. We don't speak much German and managed the public transport system. Owner really helpful and gave us loads of information. Hope to visit again - perhaps when the weather isn't quite so hot so that we can do some more walking along the river. Would recommend a trip to King Ludwig's castles - we booked a trip with the viators website.
Owner response:We are thrilled you had such a wonderful stay and that the apartment worked so well for you. We hope to welcome you back to Munich soon! Patt and Michael
