Newly built 500 m2 modern-rustic fully equipped lakefront villa overlooking 12,000 m2 of gorgeous garden and picturesque organic farm.
This beautiful luxury villa is situated on a spectacular mountainside overlooking Lake Pátzcuaro in Michoacán, Mexico. The property was designed and built by a prominent Czech artist as a paradise retreat and art studio in one of the most idyllic and culturally vibrant regions of Latin America.
The villa is a secluded property built on Aztec-era terraces on the mountainside overlooking beautiful farmland on the shore of majestic Lake Patzcuaro. The house is built in the open-architecture style of a European spa but using a dazzling variety of local Mexican design elements, including beautiful adobe walls, carved wood floors and columns, and tile roofs. The house is literally an outgrowth of the earth, since the mud for its adobe walls was quarried exclusively from the land on which it is built.
The property has 1 master suite, 1 bedroom and additional bedroom in semi-attached artist studio. King-sized beds with high thread-count 100% cotton sheets, three baths, a jacuzzi bathtub, a fully-equipped gourmet kitchen with lab-tested purified water, canoe facilities, wireless internet, a large artist’s studio, 2 acres of luscious gardens with hundreds of plant species, an organic vegetable and herb garden, an avocado orchard, breath-taking views of the lake and nearby volcanoes, and incredible sunsets. The sheltered mountainside location of this property endows it with a microclimate that provides excellent weather all year round, with temperature highs perpetually in the 70’s and 80’s, and flowers always in bloom.
Our staff provides airport pick-up, maintenance, security, cleaning, gardening, cooking, shopping for guests, etc. An on-site Mercedes 4-wheel-drive vehicle with driver is available to guests for exploring the region on day trips.
The villa is nestled between two stunning pre-Colombian architectural sites, each just a 10-minute drive away: one is perched above the beautiful 16th-century village of Tzinzunzan, and the other is near the village of Ihuatzio. The villa is also just a 20-minute drive from Patzcuaro, renowned as Mexico’s most magical pueblo, with unique 16th-century architecture, museums, restaurants, hotels, and handcrafts. Moreover, the villa is a 50-minute drive from the city of Morelia, which has an airport with international direct flights from major U.S. cities. Morelia is a jewel of colonial architecture, named a Center of World Heritage by UNESCO, dotted with churches and palaces of the 16th-19th centuries, and surrounded by more than a dozen rustic villages famed for their artisanal crafts. The local cuisine is beyond compare. Both Morelia and Patzcuaro have for centuries been centers of culture and higher education. In this region, every drive and every walk surprises the visitor with vistas of great beauty. The friendliness of the local inhabitants, many of them Purépecha Indians, is legendary. It also bears mentioning that the villa is a three-hour drive from Ixtapa-Zihautanejo, and a 3.5 hour drive from Mexico City.
