  We really enjoyed our stay at the Happy Heron during spring break. The house was exactly as advertised and all was clean and in good working order. The two highlights for our family were the heated pool/spa which were perfect for our kids (8 and 5) and the library of movies. We ended up watching a lot of kids I watched when I was their age. The house is easy walking distance to the beach as well as the shops, restaurants, etc. at Coligny Plaza. Highly recommend.

  Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

  This is a great property to rent for a family. The pool is awesome! It is definitely close proximity to the beach and Coligny Plaza. We had fun taking our bikes to the Plaza each day and also riding all around SeaPines Resort. The grocery store (Piggly Wiggly) in Coligny Plaza is also just a bike ride away for those small items you may have forgotten. The beach area available within walking distance from the house is very nice! We did have a small issue with the cleanliness of the property when we arrived but it was resolved first thing the next day and we also recieved a complimentary mid-week cleaning. The only thing that I would mention that is less than perfect is the mattresses. They are a bit hard and uncomfortable. Other than that....PERFECT!

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

  Great location near the beach (1 minute walk) and shopping (2 minute bike ride); new pool with separate spa/hot tub provides great sanctuary when returning from the beach. Beach access area was very private & quiet during Memorial Day week - while the rest of the island was swamped with people, we had the place essentially to ourselves. House has great amenties including a large rec room for family movie time & lounging. New furtniture throughout, 4 bunk beds. 2 adult beds, 2 full baths, plenty of space. Poolside deck is spacious with umbrella-covered patio furniture & large gas grill for cooking out. Everything is on ground level as well - which helps unloading/loading the car... Highly recommended.

  Our group of 8 (4 kids, 4 adults acting like kids) had a wonderful time at the Happy Heron. The house was very clean and well equipped. We had a great time by the pool and the beach was a very short walk away. The two living rooms were ideal...one for the kids, and one for the grown ups! A great house for a family or two to enjoy!

  Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

  Our family visited in early Fall 09...we had a fantastic time. We went with a few friends and their children and there was more than enough room for all. The kids had a super time with both the beach and the pool...having both options was a homerun! The Heron has everything a family needs to feel right at home...we will be back.

  October 1-4th, 2009 Happy Heron, thanks for a great, long weekend. We brought 8 guys down to HHI for a golf boon-dogle and thoroughly enjoyed your house. We had plenty of room for everyone and spent most of our non-golf time in the hot tub or pool. The location was great, as it was a short walk to Coligny for a beer and dinner. October in Hilton Head is my new favorite time, as the weather was great, the golf courses weren't crowded and we were able to get some good deals. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

  Andrew, We had a very enjoyable stay at the Happy Heron last week. The house was very warm, comfortable and well equipped. The pool area was very well done and even though we did not use the pool we were able to enjoy trhe pooldeck area on several days. The close proximity to the beach was a real plus!!! Overall, a very positive stay!!

  After many years of staying in hotels for our Hilton Head vacations we decided we wanted to upgrade to the comfort and convenience of a beach house. Because of all the uncertainty with amenities, décor, cleanliness and location it was not until a friend highly recommended “The Happy Heron” that we decided to book this very special house in North Forest Beach. Before I even mention the house I have to say that the beach, which is walking distance from the house, is one of the prettiest beaches we have ever seen…and we are very particular. There is also fun shopping, great restaurants and a cool fountain style water park all within a short walk or bike ride from the house. The property is beautifully landscaped and located on a tranquil street that just feels like vacation as soon as you pull up to the house. Walking into “The Happy Heron“ is a bit like stepping into your favorite pages of the Pottery Barn catalogue. With two large separate living areas the kids could have their own movie/TV space while my husband and I were happy to relax and enjoy some calmer adult time. The kitchen was so well equipped that we chose to prepare most of our vacation meals ourselves. With three bedrooms our family had more than enough room so next year our kids each get to bring a friend. Although the initial focus of our vacation had been around the beach. The brand new fenced-in pool and hot tub in the backyard drew us in for many afternoons when we were all beached-out. The lounge chairs were so inviting it was hard to get up. We highly recommend “The Happy Heron” for families looking to relax in a clean, comfortable beach house that offers so much more than just a beautiful beach.

  We stayed at The Happy Heron in June ’09 and had a wonderful time. This was our fourth trip to Hilton Head yet first time staying in North Forest Beach… and we loved it. The house is really beautiful, spacious and close to everything (beach, restaurants and shopping). We had two families and a total of 4 kids in the house and it was the perfect size, especially with the two large living areas. We were amazed by how well the kitchen was stocked, as we fixed many of the meals at home. We absolutely loved the pool and backyard as it was huge. The location was perfect and we would definitely rent this house again.

  Perfect vacation home!!! We had a wonderful week at the beach and couldn’t have asked for a better place. This was our first year at The Happy Heron, and I can honestly say there will be many more. The owners were fabulous to work with. The house is beautifully furnished, clean and close to everything. We stayed in most every night as it was a pleasure to cook in a kitchen that had every possible kitchen utensil needed. We understand the pool deck was just expanded, as we had more than enough room to swim, play and have meals. The pool is immaculate and we loved the tanning shelf (adults and kids alike). The bike path across the street allowed us easy access to all the North Forest Beach activities, including Coligny, miniature golf and tennis.
