The Colony 1 Resort is on a quiet wooded setting on the Oyster Bay Golf Course with small ponds and a large lake… only minutes to Sunset Beach, a dozen excellent golf courses, seafood restaurants, and Myrtle Beach. All of the amenities you would expect are on site, pool, heated hot tub, two lighted tennis courts, barbeque grills, and picnic tables.
Our condo is located on the northern end of the Myrtle Beach Strand, world famous for the many excellent golf courses; including these courses that are within a 15-20 minute drive from our condo: Oyster Bay, The Thistle, Sandpiper Bay, The Pearl, Sea Trail(3X), Lion’s Paw, Tiger’s Eye, Crow Creek, Brunswick Plantation, and Meadowlands. The condo is a spacious 1,100 sq ft and on the ground floor with 2 large BR (2 double beds in each room), 2 full baths, fully equipped kitchen, large living area, a wrap-around patio, central air conditioning, 3 cable TVs, and a full size washer and dryer. The unit features new sofas, living room furniture,carpet,and tile flooring,is freshly painted, and has new high quality mattresses and box springs in both bedrooms.
Our NO SMOKING condo is in like new condition and presents a very confortable relaxing athmosphere. The entrance, kitchen, bathrooms, and dining room have new ceramic tile flooring while the bedrooms and living room are carpeted.
The complex is on the mainland directly across the street from the intercostals waterway. We are only two miles to the barrier island and beach where a new causeway takes you to Sunset Beach Island and the beach. There are beautiful views of the intercoastal waterway and marsh along the Shoreline Drive road along the way.
The main living area has a two new full sized couches and chair, coffee table, one end table with lamps, TV/DVD and a ceiling fan. From this room, there are two sets of sliding doors onto a wrap-around porch that is great for morning coffee, evening cocktails, or simply relaxing and reading a good book. A small pond is only a few feet from the porch with cool algae covered turtles and visits from other interesting animals and birds.
The kitchen is fully equipped with all cookware, silverware, dishes, glasses and coffee mugs you will need to function without skipping a beat during your stay. There is a full size NEW refrigerator, NEW electric stove, microwave oven, dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker and blender. The kitchen opens to the living room across a half-wall bar with four stools. A tiled dining room nook is next to the kitchen with windows to enjoy the sun.
The master bedroom features a walk in closet, private full bathroom, and access to the wrap around deck. The 2nd bedroom features a mini-fridge, large mirrored closet, and a screen enclosed porch with terra cotta table and chairs to enjoy the evening.
Sunset Beach "is the smallest and quietest of three barrier islands which together, make up the modestly famed South Brunswick Islands. An uncommon coastal scene, this small sequestered island is crowned with a naturally wide, gently sloping, white sand beach and a shroud of undisturbed sand dunes. This unadulterated setting is a natural habitat and nesting ground for the abundant coastal wildlife, including the endangered Loggerhead Sea Turtle and beloved Wood Stork." There is plenty of public parking once on the island and several access points to the right and left along the beach front road. Sunset Beach features a fishing pier where for a small fee you can fish or enjoy the scenery. You can also enjoy riding your bike, or a rented one from the beach front store on the beach, to the rocky jetty at the end of the barrier island.
Two miles to the south is Calabash, NC, known for its many seafood restaurants and has the title of “Seafood Capital of the World”! The shopping is fantastic as well and you can visit the docks to purchase fresh seafood.
North Myrtle Beach is a 15 minute drive south along Rt 17. Myrtle Beach is known for hundreds of fine dining establishments, live entertainment, dancing, amusement parks, miniature golf, and shopping. Notable places to check out are Broadway at the Beach and Bearfoot Landing. Park and walk around these family fun areas for shopping, live entertainment, and dining with a theme park athmosphere.

After vacationing in the Sunset Beach area for several years we decided to buy a condo our family, friends, and guests can use year around. We enjoy the area and plan on spending some of our retirement time in Sunset Beach.

The golf, ocean, and sea food are fantastic! It really recharges the batteries to spend time in the Sunset Beach area. It really has become are 2nd home.
Public Parking lot. Go right or left on Main St. for additional parking on the street next to a one of several beach access points.

Our stay was from December 1, 2011 to February 29, 2012. We have enjoyed our stay immensely...condo is very comfortable and equipped well for a 3 mo. stay away from home. We did miss having a garbage disposal but other than that, the kitchen is stocked with everything! We have so enjoyed walking on the beaches, Vereen Gardens, shopping and the eateries in Calabash and Sunset Beach. The drive into Little River and North Myrtle Beach is fairly quick for more activities and shopping. The condo is on the golf course and the grounds are very pleasant and quiet...lots of trees, ponds, greenery. Saw turtles and herons...an alligator sunning at golf course pond down the road. We did the Kindred Spirit walk to Bird Island (a beach walk) and went to the Bonfire w/live music at LaBelle Amie Vineyard several times. All great fun! Hope to be back soon.

I wanted to let you know that we enjoyed our stay at Sunset Beach very much. I walked on the beach almost everyday. We picked up shells, watched the sunrise over the ocean, watched the sun set over the inlet, played on the beach, and went fishing and dolphin watching. It was great! Your condo was very comfortable. I loved all the trees at The Colony! Thank you for allowing us to come.

Hi Mark, I wanted to let you know that we had an awesome time at the beach. Our friends that attended were also very pleased with the property, just as we were. The location was great. Quiet and secluded, while close to a few good locations. Our friends brought their toddler along and he loved the beach. The water was amazing. Super warm. Cooper and Willa (our doodles) also had a great time. We took them for walks around the property. Thanks so much! If we visit Sunset Beach again we now know of a great place to stay!

We spent a very nice 3 1/2 months here. The condo was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The extras like Wifi and cable TV were nice to have especially during the cold rainy days. Thankfully there weren't too many of those. Thanks for an excellent winter experience.

Wonderful Condo. Everything one can need or want was there. We enjoyed 4 beautiful days there. Owner very friendly and answered all questions. Neighbors very friendly and helpful about the area.and the grounds were beautiful. A bit too cool for swimming but the pool was open. Small pond 15 feet from the back porch with about 12 turtles sunning themselves daily. We will definitely be back when we return to the area.

This condo was just a great place for my husband and I with our 4 kids. It was clean, well kept and easily accessible. Mark was great to work with- very accomodating. Kids loved that the pool is just right across the way. Just a short drive to the bridge to go over to the beach. Really just a great place to stay!! My hope is that everyone who stays will continue to pay it forward in terms of leaving toilet paper, paper towels etc. We tried to leave the condo even better than when we arrived!! An extremely hospitable owner provides a clean and spacious unit--beautiful surroundings, a place that we immediately felt "at home". Well-equipped kitchen and laundry, loved the WIFI, nice pool and close proximity to the island. Sunset Beach is fabulously relaxing. Perhaps one of our most favorite things was watching the stunning blue herrons who frequented the pond just outside the condo. Very tranquil spot!
