5 Stars - Great Place to Stay
5 Stars - Great Place to Stay
We really like this loft, its owners, and Tucson. We've stayed here twice, the first time for 2 weeks, 24 days more recently, and we plan to return. The loft is pleasing - open, spacious, light, very clean, well maintained, well furnished, comfortable - it makes us very appreciative of our time in Tucson. We really like the neighborhood and the location. And, it's wonderful to have bikes included. We enjoyed riding on the bikeways, the river paths, and to lots of places around town, including the university, farmers markets, grocery stores, Club Congress, El Charro, and Barrio and Borderland breweries. This is a great place to stay.

A Place in the Sun
A Place in the Sun
This is an absolutely first rate place--large, attractive, cheerful, lots of surrounding space, convenient to downtown and the university, and bicycles are included. The helpful owner lives nearby. We travelled by bus mostly, which was a short walk away. Safeway is within walking distance and an Italian deli even closer. The area is very quiet except for the sound of trains, which we thought pleasant, and that's with the windows open.

Great accommodations. Spacious, nicely furnished, and architecturally distinguished, with soaring loft spaces and matching widows that create a light-filled environment. Central location that is close to everything. Owners were helpful, pleasant and accommodating. My first and only choice if I ever return to Tucson.

About the owner: This is us when the walls were finished at 22 Feet, February 2008
Why the Owner Chose Barrio San Antonio:
My Brother and Sister and I built this building and live next door in similar loft style designed homes. We came up with the idea 15 years ago from similar loft units a block away, it has just taken us a while buy the property, get plans though the city and actually get them completed. We have another lot next door and will build 2 more buildings in the future. We love this neighborhood, its close to downtown and Fourth Avenue and the University of Arizona, Roma Imports an Italian Deli is two blocks away, we are North of the train tracks and Aviation Corridor so we are in a much better location than the Ice House Lofts. We are also close to the Barrio Brewery and the 17th. Street Market (15 minute walk) and eventually all that vacant land north from us is going to be turned into a new Pima County Park along Arroyo Chico with walking paths and ridding paths.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Close to downtown, so you are not sitting in traffic waiting like you do at home. Close to the U of A so every once in a while I pop down to the Center of Creative Photography and check out the new show or listen to a art, photography or architecture lectures around campus. The U of A also has many touring productions at Centennial Hall, has a Fine Art Museum, the State Museum, the Arizona Historical Society, well known Football and Basketball programs. I like to see live music so most of the good touring bands play at the Rialto Theater, Club Congress, Plush or the Red Room, these locations are 15 minutes away. The 17th. Street Market has high quality fresh produce and fresh fish there is also Safeway close by. At Roma Imports they make all these home made pasta dishes you can eat there or buy frozen pasta and bring it home to make it yourself, its all heat and eat food that tastes great, two blocks away. We used to eat there every day when we were building these places. Toolies is another restaurant that is really close by in the Lost Barrio area of South Park Avenue, they also opened another Toolies on Congress street. Between downtown and Fourth Avenue there has to be 20 to 30 really good restaurant all within 20 minutes of here and I'm not talking chain restaurants but really good places owned by local people.
