Wonderful House!!! Great for all.

Guest: Jon (Dallas, Texas)
Date of Stay: 03/10/12 Review Submitted: 03/19/12

We had 16 people in our party, and all had a wonderful time in the house. Kids had a great time with all the entertainment; pool table, pinball, XBOX, hot tub, etc. We decided to eat all dinner meals at the house. No need to go out. Management was responsive and very accomodating. Would highly recommend.

A beautiful and fun filled home

Guest: Denver Family and Friends (Denver)
Date of Stay: 03/02/12 Review Submitted: 03/05/12

We just returned from a stay at this home in Breckenridge. We had so much fun and loved how beautiful the house is. Instead of going out to eat, we chose to stay in each night, since cooking as a group worked so well in the kitchen. Adults and kids had a blast in the downstairs game room. The pinball machines, the pool table and the card table were in constant use. We also loved the media area - so comfortable. The house is very clean and nicely decorated with plenty of room. The owners were very accomdating and helpful. We would love to return again.

Great House, But Way Too Many Issues

Guest: Mel H. (-)
Date of Stay: 01/19/12 Review Submitted: 02/18/12

We had a group of 20 -10 adults&10 children, all well travelled for 5 nts in Jan. Pros:spacious, great location, very clean, & high end everything. Major cons: 1. The website listing was woefully misleading. The property boasted 7 BRs plus MIL suite, plus loft, but there are MOST DEFINITELY only 5 BRs, the MIL suite, the loft, and a private owner's suite that is locked/excluded. With 5 families, this overstatement of BRs was an unpleasant surprise upon arrival. The owner reluctantly opened the private suite for us because we were looking at the picture of the canopy bed in the private suite on the website as we discussed by phone. One of the bedrooms is actually connected to the loft/bunk area, and is a pass through to the bunk area with no privacy. I have noticed since our stay the site has been changed with the description amended and the private suite picture taken down, but still overstates the BR situation and strangely there is now one picture of a BR. 2. Carbon Monoxide (CO): The CO detectors went off in the middle of the 2nd night of our stay. It was determined by the gas company the next day that they went off because we cooked dinner that night without using the ventilation hood over the stove. We tried to, but you had to know that a non-descrip switch on the wall near the stove had to be ON before you could turn on the vent hood with the power switch on the hood itself - would have been nice to have known that with a label or something to alert the guest to prevent a potentially dangerous CO problem! The technician also said the Viking stove had not been calibrated for high altitude & could also be a problem. We thought the CO problem was resolved, but not so. The last nt of our stay, the CO detector went off again in the middle of the night w/20 people in the house sleeping. We were leaving early the next morning and were all just ready to get the _ out of there safely. I called the owner to discuss this after we returned home but she refused to return my call. 3. Hot Tub never got hot: kids complained about it the 1st 2 nts; adults wanted in the 3rd nt - we called the owner Sat pm and she said it would be Mon. before anything could be done. We rcvd a call from her service and they wanted us to leave the slopes to get instructons by phone to reset, as the owner refused to pay for someone to come out. We then rcvd usless info by email to press buttons that didn't exist and just gave up. BOTTOM LINE: 5 Star House w/ a 1 Star Owner/Mgmt

Owner response:The guests had an extremely large group, which our 8500 sq. home is uniquely equipped to handle. And is one of the biggest homes on the rental market. We are glad the guests enjoyed at least the “5-star” house and the town of Breckenridge. 1. The bedroom count is exactly accurate on VRBO. I am not sure what else to call a room that has a bed, door, and bathroom attached to it other than a bedroom. 2. The house has 10 bathrooms. 2 not attached to a bedroom hence 8 bedrooms. (7 advertised on VRBO) 3. The bedroom “#8” the guest refers to is not advertised or counted on VRBO for rent and is locked. This guest signed a rental agreement where this was spelled out. Due to us moving some furnishings around a picture on VRBO had a bed pictured that was not in the rented portion of the house however this bed was replaced with another king bed of high quality. This picture was replaced with one of the actual bed in the house so not to cause future confusion. Also, as a good will gesture we allowed this guest to use our private bedroom #8 (the locked bedroom) the very first night. The mother-in-law suite which contains two rooms plus two full baths is never locked and has no locks on it. We are not sure why the guests don’t count these rooms. 4. The house is equipped with the highest safety features include Carbon Monoxide detection (CO) throughout the home. The guest did not turn on the hood fan while using the gas range for 4 hours thus the system detected trace amounts of CO. The hood fan operates with a simple switch on the wall under the fan. We have never had a guest not able to figure out how to operate the hood, but we have now labeled the switch. 5. The utility company was immediately called out as a precaution to check the CO levels and advised the CO detector went off because there were trace amounts of CO omitted since the hood vent was not turned on for the duration of cooking. The utility company “recommended” the range be checked for altitude calibration. This was done after guest left with a Viking Appliance tech. and found to be in compliance to building code and mfg. specs. The Viking Hood likewise met these standards. 6. The hot tub was likewise checked after guest checked out and it was determined that there was “water on the circuit board” perhaps from the bad weather or over splashing. Either way we offered to have a repair done while guests were at the house but the guests declined

Pretty Good But...A Few Things

Guest: 1happybecky (Colorado)
Date of Stay: 12/22/11 Review Submitted: 01/16/12

Pros: Wow, just a beautiful house! Close to town. Beautiful views! Especially the sunrise. Neighbors, but it still felt very private. Nearby walking trail that was super nice for people and dogs. Very comfy furniture and beds. Nice deck. Plenty of living space. Kitchen was well stocked with plenty of cook ware and basics like flour, sugar, hot cocoa, salt, etc. Lots of additional sleeping options. Mini-suite upstairs with fireplace. Windows, windows and more windows! We got one of the pinball machines to work. :-) Plenty of extra pillows and blankets. Cons: Pool sticks were very worn down and almost unusable. Only 1 dart for dart board. Sleeps 14, diningroom seats 10, hot tub fits 4 - why? Cameras throughout the house made it difficult to completely relax. Security system alarm goes off at least 10 times daily. Smoke alarm went off very late at night because of low battery (Don't these get changed annually? Sheesh.) Towels were cheap hotel variety. Some regular dishes and some plastic, also silverware was cheap. Bathroom counters are high so if you have little kids bring a stool. The listing was accurate. Photos depict property accurately. Property was clean and well maintained. I didn't talk to the owners. Would recommend the property to others, but with the caveat of bring your own pool sticks and darts, etc. Seems like they should charge less or replace the sticks and darts. Lots of nearby activities in Breckenridge, Silverthorne, etc.

Owner response:We appreciate the comments left by the guest. We are glad they liked the house and had a nice stay. The house is equipped with burglar, fire, smoke, and carbon monoxide detectors all have battery backup. All the batteries in all the systems have been changed. No more beeping! Pool sticks were likewise all replaced with new ones and darts added. The house does have some security cameras (like any hotel would) They are mainly outdoors with the exception of a few common areas of the house (NON-ARE IN ANY PRIVATE AREAS)

Great Place!

We stayed at this property while attending a conference in Breckenridge, and it was amazing! The pictures really do not do it justice. It was very warm and cozy, while loaded with every possible amenity, like a luxury hotel. The owners were also great to deal with and even gave us a few tips on where to go in Breckenridge as well, which was fantastic. Plus, we were pleasantly surprised with how reasonable our cleaning bill was for the weekend. All in all, we really enjoyed staying here and look forward to returning again in the future!

Weekend getaway.

Guest: HQL (Denver)
Date of Stay: 10/08/11 Review Submitted: 11/03/11

Spent the weekend at this property a month ago. Gorgeous home and very clean. This house has all the amenities a mountain house should have. We enjoyed everything from the movie theater to the hot tub. The location is very close to town and easy to find. We are already planning our next trip to Breckenridge and looking forward to staying at this property again!

A Disappointment

Guest: Roz E. (Denver, Colorado)
Date of Stay: 10/14/11 Review Submitted: 10/27/11

rented this for a milestone occasion and chose it for its apparent luxury and specific amenities and features advertised such as the hot tub (a must), pool table (we had planned a pool tourney); pinball machines, and gourmet kitchen (having an elaborate dinner). Hot tub, pinball, pool cues are were unusuable. The kitchen was not gourmet and lacked basics like any kind of nice serving dishers (we used plastic mixing bowls), only had 6 mugs, not enough dishes unless you used plastic, no oven mitts, dull knives, etc. I was willing to let that all go until I got my security deposit returned minus the cleaning fee, which was exhorbitant. Not what was advertised on the site. The owner said there was no advertised fee but I had taken a screenshot to prove it. I have had no success in restitution. If you rent this property, ask a lot of questions and get your expectations clearly in writing. While the property is elegant in appearance, it lacks substance and working amenities, and the owner experience was entirely negative.

Owner response:We are very disappointed this guest did not enjoy our home. As you can see from other reviewers the issues listed here have never been brought up. The house is equipped with spare supplies such as pool sticks, dished, darts, toiletries, etc. all this guest had to do was call us and all the concerns he was having would have been addressed immediately. This guest was mainly interested in receiving all his money back and threatened to leave a negative review if he was not paid. He didn’t let us know there were any problems until he was gone and the money issue came up. This guest was so obsessed with getting a refund that we had to make calls to our local police department to get him to stop contacting us after he was told we were no longer interested is discussing this further (this was after multiple nasty threatening emails to my wife) We had the hot tub looked at after this guest left and were informed that it was in perfect working order. This was not surprising because its barley a year old. The issue was that if it goes unused for a long time (which happens in a vacant house such as this property) it goes into an energy saving mode. Had the guest read the posted instructions on the hot tub he could have simply turned the temperature up and it would have been up to operating temperature in 15-20 minutes. One of the pinball machines was actually broken but we not aware of this because the machines are mainly there for decoration and are seldom used by guests. As far as the kitchen, other guests of our property have hired professional chefs to cater special occasions and have never complained about the kitchen. (Which is equipped with state of the art Viking appliances) The cleaning policy we have is not to charge a fixed rate but to pass along the exact same fee an unrelated cleaning company charges us. This policy assures that guests who prefer to clean the house themselves can avoid a higher cleaning fee. And guest who prefer not to clean at all don’t have to do anything when they leave. This policy is set out in writing and this guest was well aware of it. We have had guests with cleaning bills as low as $75 and some as high at $700. It just depends on how the house is left. The house is large and has many bathrooms and open areas. There is no way for us to set out a specific fee without overcharging some and undercharging others. Giving guests the actual bill is a fair system and we have had no issues with this policy.

would like to reserve your home in the future

Guest: MD (Missouri City, )
Date of Stay: 01/28/11 Review Submitted: 02/15/11

My family, friends and I had a wonderful vacation in Breckenridge. Your home was beautiful, and we were amazed by the views. The close distance to town and to the slopes allowed us to make the most of each day we were there. My family hosts an annual ski trip, usually in different locations, but we would fell in love with Breckenridge and would like to reserve your home in the future if it is still available.
