My husband and I visited Costa Rica for the first time and decided to rent a private condo or villa instead of a busy hotel with tons of people around. We searched through VRBO and found this place. The pictures looked good and there are many great reviews, so we spoke to the owner and decided to stay at this condo. Firstly, the property management company is good at communicating via email to provide assistance. We arranged for private transfer through them from the airport, but unfortunately did not get to stop at the supermarket which was requested ahead, and paid extra for. Not the end of the world. Upon arriving at the condo, everything was as the pictures showed, if not better. The grounds were in nice condition and the pool area, albeit small, was very nice as well. Our internet went out two nights after we arrived, leaving us in a great lurch, as there is no phone book for local numbers of restaurants, tours, etc., and the concierge service that helps with these things are not available at all times. We were told the internet would be back up and running and it was not repaired until the day we were leaving. The housekeeping/maid showed up and walked into our condo, waking us up - we had no idea that anyone would be coming to clean while we were there. The door lock needed fixing and after we were told that we would have notice of this repair, once again someone showed up at an inopportune time without notice, to fix our lock. Very poor communication from the property management company. The owner did as much as she could considering she is in the U.S. - which, I believe, is basically nothing. The pool area is great as long as there are only a few people there, otherwise it is busy and not comfortable for relaxing and sunbathing. Additionally there is no view to speak of from anywhere on the condo property. If you want howler monkeys, they are not here. We knew we were renting something that is a little out of the way, but were a little disappointed when told it was a short walk to the beach and town, because it's not really short (especially in the heat of the day) and at night it's dangerous since there are no sidewalks, only ditches, that you have to move into to avoid traffic. Not a tremendous walk, but not really close either. It was recommended to rent a car for sightseeing and checking stuff out, etc. but it was not really stated as a necessity. This condo has it all. Close to great beaches, not to far from the airport, wonderful pool,secured parking, comfortable beds, washer & dryer, nice kitchen, and a wonderful maintenace man near the condos.The location was really good, but I would recommend renting a car, because there are so many places to see. There is a maid service that comes in once a week which is really nice to come home to. I loved the pool, it is small, but very clean and comfortable. There are only 8 units so the pool patio was a nice area to meet other people and just relax. In the morning you can hear the howler monkeys and in the afternoon parakeets chase each other over the pool. Wonderful people to rent from!

Our stay was nice. The condo is set up with everything you need to cook and have a great stay near the beaches. The pool is a bit small however there is a nice ranch area to hang out right next to it. Upon arrival we had to wash all of the sheets since we found them no to be up to standards (my wife found a few too many hairs while making the beds at night) Overall the grounds and condo are well kept and we would stay here again!

Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children.

Owner response: It was so nice to work with Jorge and his wife. We are so grateful for his feedback and have taken it very seriously. We have found a new property management company and housekeeping service. Cleanliness is a top priority for us and we do not anticipate a problem with this in the future.

We had an amazing vacation and stay at La Carolina. The property is very well maintained and the condo is private and nicely furnished. The wonderful owners were very accommodating to any questions we had and their description of the property is accurate. The property is very comfortable and one of the nicer places we have stayed on vacation. My wife and I greatly enjoyed the close proximity to many beaches for a day in the water or to view the beautiful sunset each night. We took advantage of snorkeling and scuba diving as much as possible. This area has some exceptional restaurants, including Mar y Sol (Flamingo Beach) a must for sunset! We look forward to bringing our friends and family to La Carolina and highly recommend this place to travelers that like to relax and enjoy la pura vida. The owners of this condo have created a very comfortable setting and they have furnished and care for the place like it is their own home. Thank you!

Clean comfortable Condo

We stayed at this condo for 2 months 3 weeks and enjoyed it very much it gets busy at XMAS and NEW YEARS but the rest of the time is relaxing and quiet. The condo is very well maintained, comfortable beds and everything works. It is about a mile walk to the beach definitely walkable but a car is nice. The condo doesn't have a microwave. The owner and staff are very accomodating highly recomend this unit. What you see in the phot is what you get.

Recent Improvements- We have recently added a microwave, some extra beach towels, fold up & beach chairs. We are trying to start a take one/leave one library. Any contributions are appreciated.

Costa Rica for the first time

My girlfriend and I rented this place for a week in May. It was perfect; for a great price. We were close to everything which made for a simple stay. We walked to local beaches to surf and explore or a short drive got us to more surfing, zip lines, great hikes, hot sprins, etc; really everything we wanted to do outside in Costa Rica. If we wanted to go out at night there was great nightlife and restaraunts near by. We also found the place cozy and well appointed which was great when we just wanted to have a nice quiet meal or eat breakfast in bed and lounge by the pool all day. All around great place, great vacation and can't wait to go back.

Everything was amazing: the place, the surroundings, the people who work at the premises, the pool, the BBQ area...I don't think you can ask for anything more. The apartment was very clean and neatly maintained. The pool was cleaned every day and the green areas were perfectly kept. The staff was very kind to our every wish, whether it meant asking for directions or finding out how the air conditioning worked. The rooms were just the right size, as were the beds, couches and social areas. We are definitely looking forward to returning next year...maybe even twice! And, the best part of all: the price was great. You very much pay for what you get (and maybe more).

Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We stayed in La Carolina for a bit more than a week and loved it. The condo is well appointed and very up to date. It was very easy to get around to multiple beaches and great restaurants. Pedro was fantastic and really enjoyed having him around (especially when the double gate was acting up!). The grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. The kitchen and living area were spacious enough for the four of us, and the bedrooms and baths were well appointed. La Carolina is a can't miss, and we recommend it highly based on our wonderful experience.

This place is WONDERFUL-all the comforts of home and all the surroundings of paradise! Close to the gorgeous beaches of the Pacific, La Carolina is private and safe (there is a security guard living next door). In fact, Pedro was more than a security guard, he helped us feel at home during our stay, checked in on us and made sure the lights were always on when we came home after dark. If you are going to stay on the Pacific side of Costa Rica, you have to stay here-it's a perfect resting place between the many adventures you will have in this beautiful country!

Stayed at La Carolina and loved every minute of it. Most of the time we had the whole place to our selves, the pool and the patio are so private we really felt the "Pura Vida". The pool area is great, we spent much of our time there, the underwater bar stools and the outdoor shower is awesome. The condo is so close to the pool we never went without a cold beverage. Its a good idea to rent a car because there are so many fun destinations within a short drive. If you get a chance go for a sail boat ride on the lazy lizard which is out of Flamingo. Our favorite beach is Conchal which is super close to the La Carolina. For the price this is such a great choice for anyone going to Costa Rica.

We spent a short week at La Carolina in March of '09 and enjoyed it immensely. The condo is brand new, nicely furnished and the two bedrooms and two baths was a perfect fit for my wife and I and our friend Sarah. The location off the main road and a ten minute walk to the beach felt secluded but not isolated. For a few nights cooking in the modern kitchen and on the gas grill by the pool was a welcome change from all the restaurants we'd gone to while staying in hotels. We also manage to find a couple of favorite eateries down the road. Skip the Happy Snapper (aka tourist trapper...), but don't miss Cecile's French Bakery (a block west of Carolina at the main road) and El Mordizco typical Soda on the road as you come into town from the south. Any of the many local spots on Brasilito beach are great for fresh fish, burgers, pizza or other casual food as well. If you want upscale dining or bars it's easy ten minute drives to the resorts at Flamingo and Conchal (opposite directions) and there are dozens of other beaches to explore within half an hour if you want to wander. All and all a great time and easily recommended!

After traveling around Costa Rica for nearly a month, we spent the last five days of our trip in the Brasilito area at La Carolina Condos. This area was a great base for many different activities. We could surf at Playa Grande which was only a fifteen minute drive, relax on the beach at Playa Conchal or Playa Flamingo, charter a surf boat to Witches Rock, go party in Tamarindo or Potrero. There are also many excellent restaurants in the area and plenty to do and see. The condos were with out a doubt the nicest place we stayed on our trip. Being fully furnished and newly built give them a comfortable and welcoming feel that many places in Costa Rica lack and with features like actual hot water showers, AC that works, secure parking and the wonderful pool and outdoor lounge area you would be hard pressed to find anything wrong with the offerings of the La Carolina Condos. We would recommend both the condos and the area to anyone going to Costa Rica. Justin and Cassie Santa Cruz, CA
