Enjoy all that the Tahoe area has to offer. Our 3-year old calls it the "Snowman Haus" and it is ideally located 150 yards up a quiet street from the Trout Creek Recreation Center, Snowplay area, Sledding hill, The Lodge, Will’s Market, hiking trails, the golf course and driving range.
This large, lodge-style house has an open floor plan, tons of storage, and all the extras that make spending time in the mountains with friends & family special. We’re set up for families (like ours) and have all the extra amenities you need to make a vacation with kids easier.
House features a large, level driveway (more important than you think in the Winter), 2 car garage with ski rack, hot tub on back deck + jetted tub in Master, 2 HDTVs, home theater, Wii, iPod dock, and Wi-Fi. Rental includes a Guest Pass to access all Tahoe-Donner amenities and many child-friendly extras: high-chair, booster chair, Pack ‘n Play crib, changing table, SuperYard moveable 6 panel safety gate, jogging stroller, loads of toys, games & kids DVD’s.
In the summer, you can walk out the door and onto the expansive network of hiking trails, the golf course, or visit the nearby Equestrian, Archery, or Tennis Centers. You can also enjoy the beach or rent a boat at the private Tahoe Donner Beach Club & Marina on Donner Lake
In the winter, you’re minutes from headline Tahoe ski resorts like Squaw, Northstar, Alpine & Sugar Bowl, but you’ve wisely avoided the cramped condos and bachelor parties next door that risk ruining your vacation.
And don’t overlook the on-site Tahoe Donner Ski Hill, a small gem for families where lessons start at 3 and everyone under 6 skis free. For a change of pace, Tahoe Donner also offers the largest cross country ski facility in the Tahoe area.
You’re perfectly located – Walk down to the legendary Tahoe Donner sledding hill & snowplay area. When the chills set in, you can enjoy the heated pool, sauna, or family hot tub at the adjacent Trout Creek Rec Center or just pop back to your own hot tub on the deck at Snowman Haus. Relaxed doesn’t even begin to describe stretching out on the new La-Z-Boy couch or recliners with a warm cup of cocoa in front of a roaring fire. This is what a family vacations should be all about.
Don’t forget to pay tribute to the house’s namesake and build a big snowman in the front yard before you leave!!
Our Philosophy
With a growing family, we tend to rent houses for our vacations too and we’ve seen the good, the bad, and ugly of rental houses. We may not be professional innkeepers, but we do strive to provide you with everything you need to enjoy your holiday.
Believe it or not, there are folks who consider linens & towels to be “extras” and others who think it’s OK to stock their rental house with 20 yr-old hand-me-down Scooby Doo sheets (“Zoinks”). Not us! We do our best to decorate & care for Snowman Haus as we do our primary home.
New furniture & mattresses throughout in 2008, linens (300 thread ct), blankets, pillows, towels, beach towels, washer, dryer, iron, ironing board, and hair dryer, full stock of basic household supplies – TP, Trash Bags, Paper Towels. etc

We searched for months to find a retreat in the mountains that was the perfect balance of escape from the city and convenience to local amenities. Tahoe Donner is the perfect family community in the mountains and we loved the Trout Creek Rec Center and the sledding hill, so we jumped when we found the perfect house just up the street.

We love the mountins. Hiking, swimming & fishing in the summer. Sledding & skiing in the winter. The Tahoe area is a very special place where we can introduce our children to a whole new set of experiences and share in their discovery of the natural world.
If you're a parent, you know that planning a vacation with younger kids is stressful. First there's all of that extra equipment: strollers, travel cribs, changing supplies, etc. Then there's the logistics: Naps, meal prep, etc. Most resorts don't offer appropriate accomodations or enough space for children so it made perfect sense for us to set up our own "base of operations" for mountain adventures with our kids. Of course we can't be there all the time, so it also seems natural for us to share it with others families. We hope you enjoy it!
