Perfect Home Away from Home

Guest: happymama (Hollywood, FL)
Date of Stay: 07/12/11 Review Submitted: 08/24/11

My family of six stayed here for three weeks this summer while our daughters attended summer camp at Springside School in Chestnut Hill. This townhome was perfect for us, with three bedrooms upstairs, a comfortable living space on the main floor, and a finished basement for kids' play and laundry. We will go back again next year as the location and home were perfect for us. The owner was extremely kind and gracious. She made sure the home was well-equipped for any possibility and that it was cleaner than we could have ever imagined. Wonderful stay!

Excellent cozy house in good neighbourhood.

We had a really good week at this house that the photos don't do justice to. The house is fairly small but well equipped and was fine for 4. Two big bedrooms and one smaller one. Property was clean and well maintained. Some good restaurants on nearby Germantown ave and up at Chesnut Hill. Nearby train station with hourly service to central Philadelphia were very handy.

Fantastic Treasure!

The home was truly a home away from home and a welcoming oasis. As a native Philadelphians we really appreciated how well cared for the property was. From Internet access to comfortable furniture in every room, the amenities were great including breakfast care package. Everything that one could think of was provided. It was the perfect location allowing for easy access to downtown and suburbs. The owner was delightful and booking straightforward.

Highly recommended - a great visit

Date of Stay: 06/03/11 Review Submitted: 06/14/11

We visited Philadelphia from UK to meet our daughter after her year studying at UPenn. The property was an excellent find - very comfortable for our family of four [both kids grown-up]. and a good base for exploring both city and surroundings. Booking [from the UK] was straightforward and all our interactions with the owner were a pleasure. We used SEPTA for travelling in city and surroundings - and only needed car rental on a couple of days when we explored Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Highly recommended - a great visit

Highly recommended!

We were in town for the occasion of celebrating the bachelor party for last of the high school crowed to get hitched. This townhouse was perfect for the occasion of catching up with one another over a good scotch and great company - without each of us getting a hotel room, spending more, and not having that together time. The townhouse is wonderful. The restaurants that are nearby are equally so. McMenamin's Pub was awesome too. Highly recommended!

Great Value

Guest: Judi11 (United Kingdom)
Date of Stay: 05/08/11 Review Submitted: 06/07/11

I stayed here with my husband and our adult son. The house was very comfortable, although my husband (who got last pick of the bedrooms) struggled a little with the futon in the 3rd bedroom. The owners were very relaxed and easy to deal with, and made the booking process very easy, even though we were coming from the UK. A welcome pack of groceries was a very nice touch. The house is in a very quiet, pleasant road and comes fully equipped with everything you would hope to find. We would certainly like to stay here again.

Loved Our Time at Tyry's!

Guest: carolinapinetree (Seattle, WA. USA.)
Date of Stay: 01/28/10 Review Submitted: 01/15/11

My dad, sister, nephew, husband and I stayed at this home very recently. We all loved it and very much enjoyed our time there. This house is located in Mt. Airy, just blocks away from Germantown Avenue and with easy access to Chestnut Hill, the Art Museum area and downtown. Although we didn't use them, the Septa train as well as bus stops are very close by. Parking was very easy. This home was well appointed, very clean and overall comfortable. I think the pictures in the profile do not reflect how cute this place is. The bedrooms/bathroom were clean with tons of linens/towels available. The living/dining areas were comfortable and functional. There is DirectTV available, Philadelphia and vicinities information, they even provide boardgames... The cupboards were properly stock with dishes/glasses/silverware. The owner also provided us with coffee, juice, milk, fruit, bread and cereal, which was a nice touch. Overall good value and convenient. Last, but not least, the rental process was very simple and straightforward and communication with the owner was just great. I cannot say enough good things about our experience. Highly recommended.

Comfortable home in Philadelphia

Guest: Aaron (NC)
Date of Stay: 12/10/10 Review Submitted: 01/12/11

I was in Philadelphia for a mixture of business and fun. This house was a great place to stay for my family and me. If you have young kids and want to see Philadelphia, this is way better than staying in a hotel. The owner was very prompt and helpful in correspondence and the house was well equipped, spacious and as-advertised. The location is also nice as you have many restaurants and shops nearby along Germantown Ave in Mt. Airy and Chestnut Hill. We love Metropolitan bakery in Chestnut Hill. The house is also ~2 blocks from the Stenton Station on the R7 SEPTA line. This makes it easy to get downtown and avoids the outrageous parking rates and congestion down there. You do want a car for getting around locally. There is an Acme grocery store nearby. Parking is no problem around the neighborhood, which is safe, pleasant and quiet. I used to live in Mt. Airy so I have some basis for comparison and thought this was a very nice spot. I would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful Family-Friendly Townhome

Guest: Florida Visitor (Jacksonville, FL)
Date of Stay: 08/06/10 Review Submitted: 08/24/10

Our family had a wonderful time during our stay in Philadelphia and this quiet, clean, well-maintained, updated townhome was a great base to explore the city and surrounding areas. The neighborhood was quiet as well as extremely convenient to Chestnut Hill, and Mt. Airy on Germantown Ave. Fairmount Park was only 5-10 minutes away and downtown another 10 minutes. All of the rooms were nicely appointed and the appliances were practically new. And the owner was wonderful and attentive as needed. In fact we were pleasantly surprised by a complimentary continental breakfast our first morning. The only possible negative was that there was only one full bathroom to bathe and one other restroom in the basement. That was a little challenging with a family of 6, but so is staying in separate hotel rooms at traditional travel destinations...
