Location is a picturesque Southern Vermont setting in the hamlet of East Dover, just 10 minutes drive to spectacular Mount Snow ski slopes and golf resort, in warm weather. Along a vibrant, winding brook on 3 wooded acres, my historic home is spacious, clean and comfortable, featuring many wonderful new updates. Mountain Stream Guest House is fully prepared to host your next vacation in a delightful and memorable New England setting. Available for special events, retreats, etc, too.
House features 4 bedrooms (all new premium bedding), 2 full baths(tiled), finished attic/loft, open layout downstairs including living room with vaulted ceiling, fireplace and comfy sofas(one's a futon), fully-equipped eat-in kitchen (new appliances), dining room, mud room -keeps cold out, unload your gear in, includes new washer/dryer.
Bedroom layouts: 4 bedrooms(1 down, 3 up), plus the loft/attic. 1st floor -one large bedroom(1 queen, 1 single) with private bath(alt door to main house). 2nd floor -3 bedrooms -at front is one large "dormitory"(3 singles) near bath, and two smaller bedrooms- each with a double bed. The loft/attic is fun. It has two hatch/ladder entrances from the hallway, w/w carpeting, paneled and provided there's steady footing, can be used for playing games or spare sleeping room.
Featuring many new updates, house is efficient and modern, yet retains it's unique charm with country antique furnishings, vintage wallpapers, pine floors and molding. Enjoy the relaxing, tranquil atmosphere as a perfect antidote to the weekday's urban toil. Ski on top rated trails, experience the beloved Green Mountains -breathe invigorating pine-scented mountain air and drink delicious spring water out of the tap. In warmer weather, area is rich in regional pleasures like flea markets, hiking, swimming in the abundant clear water streams, local fare and country entertainment.
Outside is picnic/grilling area on level yard, parking area(3 cars max, please) and room to explore on three wooded, hilly acres, with lovely brook(& dipping spot, in the summer) wrapping around house. Convenient, accessible and easy to find location on Dover Hill Road, about 7 miles to the slopes. On MOOver bus route. New general store a few minute's walk from house -handy.
Sleeps 8-12 max., rates include all utilities, linens, plowing, local telephone, TV, trash removal, wood. Just bring your clothes and sense of adventure! This property is available year round, holidays and monthly(utilities extra). We are located approx. 4 Hrs drive from NYC and 2 1/2 from Boston. Nearest large airports are at Albany, NY(1 1/2 hrs) or Hartford, CT(2 hrs).
Don't ski or golf? Other worthwhile activities in the area include visiting nearby towns of Wilmington, Newfane, Jamaica and Brattleboro. They are small, yet have interesting galleries, lectures, boutique shopping, fine dining, friendly pubs/sports bars with live music, cafes, antiques and handcrafted goods, delicious local fare and more. The famous Marlboro Music Festival is 30 min away, in August.

Year Purchased: 2008
A dedicated nature-lover, artist/house renovator and most recently, massage therapist! Traveled and lived abroad for many years(Hawaii, Italy, Bali), to finally return to my NE roots. Life in Vermont stands up amongst the best of times. Currently, I own/manage two vacation rentals(other one's a smaller bungalow at Salisbury Beach, MA) and regular apartment rentals. I greatly enjoy the opportunity to share many years of travel and tourism experience by hosting my valued vacation house guests.

I love the woodsy setting and spacious interior of my house in the mountains. With friends around a crackling fire, it's a great place to spend time. For those not familiar with Vermont, there's lot's to discover -lively, warm people that populate the hill towns, great local fare and interesting historical architecture, for example. Many artists, writers, even a few celebrities have homes in the area for these reasons and more.
