Located in the heart of East Dover (right on Dover Hill Rd), about 10 minutes drive to spectacular Mount Snow Resort ski slopes, summer golf and so much more. Along a winding brook on 3 wooded acres, my historic home is roomy with high ceilings, clean and well -equipped, featuring new updates like a remodeled kitchen w/dishwasher & gas oven, flat screen TV and super efficient washer/dryer. Mountain Stream Guest House is fully prepared to host your stay in a delightful and memorable New England setting. Available for short or longer term, special events, family and friends gatherings, functions and quiet retreats. Creative and talented support staff can be arranged as well, just ask!
House layout : Sleeps total of 12 (up to 14) people. Spacious, comfortable house with both traditional and modern features. 4 bedrooms (all new premium bedding); First floor master bedroom suite, 2 full baths(tiled), finished attic/loft, open layout downstairs -great for entertaining in living room with vaulted ceiling, working fireplace and comfy sofas (2 convertible double beds), extensively equipped kitchen with breakfast bar, dining room, laundry/mud room entrance-keeps cold out, unload your gear in.
Sleeping Arrangement : 1 bedroom downstairs/3 upstairs. Living room now has two sofabeds -sleeps 4. 1st floor -one large bedroom(1 queen, 1 single) with private bath (alt door to main house). 2nd floor -3 bedrooms -at front is one large "dormitory" (3 singles) near bath, and two smaller bedrooms - each with a double bed. There's also a fun loft/attic, two hatch/ladder entrances from the hallway, w/w carpeting, paneled and provided there's steady footing, can be used for playing games or spare sleeping room -mats included (not part of bed count). House is efficient and modern, yet retains it's unique charm with country antique furnishings, vintage wallpapers, pine floors and wainscot. Enjoy the relaxing, tranquil atmosphere as a perfect antidote to the weekday's urban toil. Ski on top rated trails, then unwind with friends or family by a crackling fire in the open, vaulted ceiling living room, perfect for entertaining.
Outside is a picnic/grilling area along stream, parking (carpooling appreciated) and room to explore on three wooded, hilly acres. Convenient, plowed, accessible and easy to find location on Dover Hill Road, about 7 miles to entrance of Mt. Snow. On MOOver bus route, near VAST network.
Sleeps 10-12 (up to 14, extra charge), rates include all utilities, linens, plowing, local telephone (no cell service at house), TV, trash removal, firewood. Just bring your clothes and sense of adventure! Come and experience the Green Mountains -breathe invigorating pine-scented mountain air and drink delicious spring water out of the tap.
Don't ski or golf? Other worthwhile destinations include visits to the nearby towns such as Wilmington, Newfane, Jamaica and Brattleboro. Small, yet loaded with interesting galleries, evening theatre/lectures, boutique shopping, fine dining, friendly pubs/sports bars with live music and dancing, cafes, antiques and handcrafted goods, delicious local fare and more. In warmer weather, area is rich in regional pleasures like flea markets, country fairs, hiking, swimming and rafting in abundant area streams, entertainment. August events include the famous Marlboro Music Festival, just 30 min away.
This property is available all 4 seasons- holidays and monthly (utilities extra). We are located approx. 4 Hrs drive from NYC and 2 1/2 from Boston. Nearest large airports are at Albany, NY(1 1/2 hrs) or Hartford, CT(2 hrs).

Year Purchased: 2008
A dedicated nature-lover, artist/designer and most recently, massage therapist. Former NYC artist who consequently traveled and lived abroad for many years (Hawaii, Italy, Bali-Indonesia), to finally return to my NE roots. Life in Southern Vermont stands up amongst the very best of locales. Currently, I own/manage two vacation rentals (other one's a small bungalow at Salisbury Beach, MA) and regular apartment rentals. I greatly enjoy the opportunity to share many years of travel and tourism experience by hosting my valued vacation house guests.

The unmatched, year-round, always changing scenic beauty of the area. Minutes from top-rated ski resorts. The unique, noble character of this (large) historic house and delightful, stream-side setting amongst the pine forest, yet conveniently situated in the hamlet of East Dover. Proximity to my studio/residence in Brattleboro, other small towns and the larger cities(NYC, Boston).
The Unique Benefits of this House
I love the woodsy setting and spacious interior of my house in the mountains. With friends around a crackling fire, it's a great place to spend time. For those not familiar with Southern Vermont, there's lot's to discover -lively, warm people from all over that populate the hill towns, delicious local fare(maple syrup, cheddar cheese) and classical New England architecture, for example. Many artists, writers, even a few celebrities have homes in the area for these reasons and more.
