First of all, the owner, Irene, is wonderful. Please take good care of her house. You can tell that she has put a lot of love into it and the beautiful outdoor landscaping. Hummingbirds would bathe in the morning in her front lawn pond/waterfall. It was fun to watch and we felt that we were in paradise. We were 7 adults and 3 kids. The house accommodated us perfectly and is great for families with kids (if you are looking for a party place, you're better off going somewhere else). The three bathrooms are luxurious and they have dual shower heads, which was great for couples to get ready quickly in the morning. The bathtubs are large and deep and designed for large people. The outdoor showers are great too. After a day at the beach, it was so relaxing to take a long, hot shower in the backyard. The house provides everything you need, soap, shampoo, paper towels, hair dryer, etc, so you probably don't need to bring much more than regular packing. The beach is a short walk. It's dog friendly and you can make fires at night. The house has a wagon you can use to transport everything back and forth. It also provides wetsuits and boogie boards for water fun. You will need a wetsuit as the water is freezing! The owner cleans the house using organic and natural cleaning products, so if you are into "green cleaning" then this is the house for you. Also, it was comforting to learn that she washes all comforters between all guests. So, if you are concerned about cleanliness, then this house won't disappoint! I recommend this rental with all my heart. We can't wait to return :)

Great House and Yard

I rented this house for a group of 8 friends for a weekend getaway. It was the ideal amount of space, both indoors and out. The yards are beautiful. Backyard has two separate tables, each with its own set of chairs, plus a a firepit to boot. Given good weather this yard is a tremendous asset in your stay. I imagine this house would be wonderful for 3-4 couples or 2-3 families to split as well. It's a short walk to the beach, and the outdoor shower makes it easy to rinse off and not track your mess inside. The owner was also very easy to work with.

Very pleasant house in great close- to- beach area. It was a good size with nice kitchen and bathrooms. Very nice fenced in front yard with very comfortable porch and "sleeping" couch. Outdoor shower was perfect after the beach. The house was clean and well maintained and Irene very helpful. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a relaxing low key vacation. If you get tired of cooking go over to Cliff Cafe for a good breakfast or Gayle's in Capitola. Great ice cream at Marriann's in Capitola also.

Our family recently stayed in this beautiful beach home in Santa Cruz. The home is beautiful with all amenities and has a perfect location! The home was everything and more that was promised. I would highly recommend this beach home. Oswald's restaurant and Gayle's Bakery were fantastic. You will not be disappointed!

We couldn't have asked for anything better. The home was perfect and had every amenity you could imagine and every kitchen gadget you could imagine. Location was perfect as we were close to town and shops and only 2 blocks from the beach. You could hear the waves crashing at night while we were roasting marshmallows. We had 12 people in the home, 10 adults and 2 children under the age of 3 and a dog and had plenty of room. Front porch was awesome for morning coffee and watching the kids and dog play in the yard. Irene was wonderful and easy to work with. Thank you. We will be back!

My family and I really loved staying at The Santa Cruz House! Irene was great to deal with, the house was fully stocked, beds were very comfortable, short walk to the beach, and most of all....our kids loved the massage chair even our teenagers. This house is beautiful and comfortable. The kitchen is a joy for several helpers to be working at the same time. Short walk to the ocean. Fabulous outside dining and lounging areas. The massage lounge chair was a big hit. Enough parking for several cars.

Spent a wonderful week in this lovely home, since this was our first trip to California the experience was wonderful. This house has everything that the listing explains, the flowers and landscaping is very nice, the home has a very cozy and warm feeling , quiet and friendly neighborhood. Eleven of my family memebers spent the week in this home to attend a wedding , we all enjoyed the home , short walk to the beach, firepit to toast marshmallows, the gas grill for bbq's ,enjoyed setting on the front porch, convenience of the washer and dryer . Short distance to Capitola and Santa Cruz Boardwalk . The owner is a wonderful person any questions that we had she was available to answer questions before our trip and during our stay, The wedding couple had rented a home within walking distance to our rental so that made it nice. Everything was so wonderful with this home everyone hated to leave , looking forward to going back to rent from this owner again . I highly recommend this home for your next vacation.

Santa Cruz Paradise

This was our first visit to California and this could not have been a better experience. We were there for a wedding. Eleven of our family stayed in this cozy and well equipped house for 6 days and we hated to leave. The house was everything the listing shows and more. We were comfortable, had everything at our fingertips, were close to the beach and all the places of interest. The neighborhood was quiet and we found the people to be friendly and welcoming.The house was clean, and the pictures on this sight are dead-on, but unable to adequately reflect the charm of the property. I particularly found the landscaping to be exceptionally beautiful with the all the colorful flowers and plants. It was within walking distance to our "wedding couples" rental as well. I did not deal directly with the owner as my sister-in-law made the arrangements but I know she was in daily contact with her and quickly had answers to any questions we had. I would definitly recommend this property to anyone who wants a vacation experience that is relaxed with the comforts of home.

Awesome rental - especially for dog owners!

We spent a wonderful week at this beautiful rental house! It was a short walk to a very clean dog-friendly beach where we could have our dogs off-leash and let them run in the sand and waves. Some of the other beaches didn't allow dogs at all and some were strict about keeping them on leash but this beach wasn't so it was perfect. We did go to other beaches to check them out and stayed at a few but the beach by this rental house was the best by far! We ended up going to different areas along this long stretch of beach - often finding a place up near the rocks to provide shade for our "old" dog and to shield the wind out on windy days. On the weekend it could get crowded where you enter Moran Beach but if you walk further down the beach it gets less crowded and there are areas to set up your stuff where you can have more room. The house was fabulous - so clean and beautiful! The kitchen was well-stocked, not only with dishes, kitchen ware, etc. but also with spices and some food that we could use if we chose to. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms had nice fluffy towels for us to use. The flat-screen TVs (three of them - in two of the bedrooms and in the living room which could be seen from the kitchen) were awesome complete with Direct TV so we had access to many different channels when we were getting ready for a day at the beach or relaxing after returning back to the house. We especially liked having the outdoor shower with warm water and beautiful flowers nearby. Also it was a perfect place to wash our dogs after a day at the beach. It was great to have access to boogie boards, wetsuits, fins, and an umbrella for a fun time at the beach. We took many morning and evening walks along a road near the house which had awesome views of the ocean and rocky cliffs. It was relaxing to sit on the comfy couch on the porch with our morning coffee and listen to the waterfall and visit with family members. We also all enjoyed the massage chair! Irene was wonderful to work with during the information gathering and reservation process. We will definitely return!!

The photos on this place do not do it justice. The owners have really paid attention to details - both inside and out. The front area is perfect for relaxing; it has a spacious, beautiful porch and the waterfall is exceptionally lovely. There are several nooks in the back and along the side of the house for sunning, reading or visiting. You can hear the surf from the back yard, and sitting around the fire pit while listening to the waves is so peaceful! Indoors, you are never too far from an exit, which gives the house an open feel. 2 out of the 3 showers have dual shower heads, and 2 have heated floors. The house is beautifully decorated with wood, marble and tile. It is a very dog-friendly home, and having a dog-friendly beach nearby is also handy. The owners also provide lots to entertain you: games, TVs, bikes, boogie boards, wetsuits. We really enjoyed our stay here, and all our friends and family who visited commented on how we "lucked out" with the rental. It is a jewel!

We really enjoyed our stay at the beach house. Great location, two blocks walking to Pleasure Point, and in another direction, 2 blocks to the beach. The house and the yard are very nice. Everything you need is there, we were pleasantly surprised to see even some groceries there for us to use. Irene is great and very punctual with communication. I'd highly recommend this house.

Santa Cruz Beach House

This is the third house we've rented in the Pleasure Point section of Santa Cruz, and it is far and away the nicest. The on-line photos and descriptions don't really do justice to the property. Unlike most rental peoperties, this house has the feel of a "home'. This house was built with the best of everything...appliances, furniture, fixtures, etc, and has been meticulously maintained. We will definitely rent this property again.

Wedding Week

My husband and I were recently married on a beautiful beach in Santa Cruz. I had my heart set on a rental on the beach but once we met the owner, Irene, and stepped through the front door we knew that this was the place we wanted to invite our family and friends to while celebrating our special day. Besides, it's just a beautiful 3 minute walk to the beach in one direction and 3 minutes to the tidepools and surfing in the other. The pictures and description don't come close to describing the welcome and warmth of the home. We had 10 adults and 3 little ones that enjoyed the first several days of our stay. The yards were fenced and beautifully landscaped with a lovely trickling pond in the front. The wagon was quite handy for taking the little ones to the beach. The bicycles were put to good use too. Everything we needed to host an impromptu BBQ was there. The last few days of our stay it rained so it gave us an excuse to enjoy the coziness of the house...listening to the waves at night and stepping onto the toasty bathroom floors in the morning are fond memories. We will definitely return. All of our guests were emensely impressed and they have already requested the VRBO information to recommend this absolute gem to their friends. Once again...Thank you Irene and Tim, your home will forever be a part of our special memories.

My family had a family reunion of 10 in January 2010, and this perfect property fit us perfectly. Everyone has mentioned the detail of the marble tiles, 2 shower heads, and the heated floors. What really impressed us was the landscaping in the front and backyard, as well as the little waterfall as you enter. The house had every utensil and kitchen equipment necessary to host a feast, as well as enough cutlery. The owners are extremely nice and hospitable. Next time we're in the US, we'll be sure to rent here again.

My wife and I stayed in this delightful newly renovated 4 bedroom three bathroom house for a week in January, 2010. It was awesome. My favorite part was the beautiful marble bathrooms with two shower heads. The marble is illumanited from behind (as is the marble in the kitchen) to give the rooms a unique and delightful appearance. In addition, the floors are heated so when you get out of bed your tooties are immediately warm, unlike home where though the room may be warm but the feet aren't. Did I mention three high defination TV sets all with Direct TV? The house is conveniently situated locks from the beach and about 3 miles from downtown Santa Cruz and very close to Capitola and many nice restuarants and shops. It is also close to a Starbucks if that's your gig (it is for me.) Other amenities include a gas BBQ, bikes, boogie boards with wet suits, fully stocked kitchen, including spices and the like, and plenty of seating in side and outside in the patio. Irene The owner is a very gratious hostess and I couldn't ask for more. I would stay there again because I believe if you find something as great as this house, go back.

You will not find a better place. If you have a need for handicapped individuals this was very very good. The home, and it felt like we were at home, was just wonderfully appointed. The kitchen was great to use and I really did love the front porch and waterfall in the late evening hours. My daughter left a coat behind and the return cooperation was great. We would not stay anywhere else in Santa Cruz.

Our extended family of 11 arrived the day after Christmas to celebrate our 50th anniversary. This was chosen over Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean or anywhere else we wished to go. For us this was the ideal experience - and offered something special for everyone, even our grand dogs. The house was delightful, the owners more than helpful and all the offerings of the surrounding area were many. Some of the highlights included a picnic in a meadow that bordered giant eucalyptus where the monarch butterflies were nesting, a walk along the cliffs where world-renowned surfers take their lives in their own hands, boogie boarding, climbs among the boulders, shopping, and some of the best pizza we've ever tasted and dough-twirling show we've ever seen. The house is large enough that the family could spread out and have quiet times when wanted. There are many nice touches that give a feeling of being treated special. Yes! Our family definitely plans to visit again!!

Imagine sitting on the porch on a sunny Christmas morning enjoying hot cocoa. Imagine a rental that is very clean, well equipped, AND as dog friendly as it gets. Imagine toasty floors that greet you in the morning as you rise to make that perfect cup of coffee. Imagine owners that kind, thoughtful, and generous. Imagine sitting back in a high-end massage chair after your dog has tuckered you out at the beach which is only 2 blocks away. Imagine walking a few more blocks and watching the surfers tame the waves, or hopping on one of the bicycles at the house and rolling over to Capitola. Imagine falling to sleep with the sound of nearby crashing waves and the fragrant smell of eucalyptus. Imagine all of that and you'll just begin to guess at the joy of staying at this rental. We couldn't have had a better stay and we highly recommend this delightful home for your next vacation.

Wow! We did not want to leave. As soon as we drove up to the home we fell in love. A beautiful front yard closed off with a picket fence. An inviting wrap-around covered porch with plush outdoor furniture just begging for you to relax. The inside of the home was just as inviting. A wonderful, large kitchen that opens to the family room. The bed rooms were cozy with very nice details throughout. We loved the backyard which is perfect for entertaining. There is even a fire pit that we put to good use by making smores! The home is a short five minute walk to a great sandy beach. We absolutely loved it here and again, we did NOT want to leave! p.s. We can't wait to go back!

A bunch of girlfriends and I stayed at this house in Santa Cruz for a weekend recently and I have to say that although the photos are beautiful, they do not do it justice until you arrive! The house is nicely fenced in with a cute little wood gate and a babbeling brook as you walk in. There are so many places to relax whether its on the front porch, the many different areas in the backyard, the fire pit or on the grass lawn or in the massage chair inside. The owner takes great pride in their home and you can see it in every detail. The house is comfortable, affordable and extremely clean. We felt like we were in a resort hotel! Only short 2 blocks away is the beach where you can relax or watch the surfers at Pleasure Point. The house is in a great part of town and just a short cab ride away from downtown Santa Cruz or Capitola.

....What an absolutely delightful beach rental cottage this is. Every single space in this house is aesthetically pleasing, airy, and hospitable - from the porch, to each room in the house, the outdoor shower and the beautifully landscaped yard. Our family has been renting vacation homes for many years and this one is one of the truly standout locations. The owners are extremely generous in providing the best of basic cooking and grilling supplies (they even provided everything for a beach bonfire and s'mores). The electronic amenities were such standouts, that our tech savy teenagers were completely content. There were just so many small details and comforts that were provided for. We were welcome to bring along our four legged family member, our dog, who was most comfortable in the yard sniffing the flowers and herding the birds in the bubbling stream set up in the front yard. The backyard was a very safe and lovely haven for him when day trips would not permit him to come along. There are so many things to do in Santa Cruz and many day trips possible from the Monterey peninsula to San Francisco. It is impossible not to completely relax and enjoy a stay here. .....

The place is just like in the pictures. There is a wonderful natural-looking waterfall just outside the living room window that the pictures don't capture. Our Girl Scout troop rented the house for our last trip. (The girls are graduating out of Girl Scouts and heading off to college in the fall.) There were nine of us and we were quite comfortable. The layout was perfect for us. The front part of the house is open so we could be in the kitchen, dining area, or living room and all be together. It was also nice that both of the chaperones could start each day with a massage. : ) The place is extremely cleaned and well maintained. They even supplied firewood, a wagon, marshmellows, and roasting sticks for us to use for a bonfire at the beach. The backyard has three different areas so again, we could spread out to do different things yet all be together too. During our week here, we went to the Beach Boardwalk, the Gilroy Shopping Outlets, and on a walking Chocolate Tour in San Francisco. The trip was great for our troop's last event and the beatiful, fully equipped home helped make that possible.

Perfect Get Away

This house is perfect! We had 8 adults and 3 children and plenty of space. It has been nicely updated and the yard is perfect for just hanging out while the kids run around. We rented this property for a family weekend to attend our daughter's UC Santa Cruz graduation...and all I can say is, WOW! After the graduation we had a dinner party and the firepit in back was a hit! What a lovely home and beautiful garden. Everything was first rate, and super convenient. We were all fighting over the massage chair! Close to the beach and everything you want to do in Santa Cruz/Capitola. The owner was very thoughtful and a lovely person. We had a wonderful time in this lovely, comfortable home with very nice upgrades. It is in a great community and so close to the beach. The house has everything you need and the owners are very accommodating.
