Enjoy the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the comfort of our Wintergreen chalet. Whether you're hitting the slopes, hitting the trails, or hitting the links, this is the place to stay at Wintergreen's four season resort. Multiple decks provide miles of spectacular sunset views and an ideal spot for stargazing. Step into the great room to enjoy those views in the warmth provided by the huge stone fireplace.
This home is located on Devils Knob Loop, the highest part of the mountain. We're adjacent to the scenic Blue Ridge Overlook - a great area to picnic, throw a ball around, or begin a hike. It's a popular spot for weddings, photographers, and sunset watchers. Hiking trail begins at the Overlook and continues behind our yard; many other trails nearby. Home is a short walk to the 14th hole/golf paths. Just down the hill is the Wintergarden Pool and Spa (an easy 10 minute walk down to the Spa but a challenging walk back up the mountain). A two minute drive to the Golf and Tennis clubhouses, and the Mountain Inn/Parking for Skiing. During ski season, there is Free Parking at the Mt.Inn and if necessary, Overflow Parking with free shuttle is also available. Door to door shuttle service is not provided (not unusual for detached homes) but it's a quick drive (not walkable) to free parking lot.
As you arrive at the home, privately situated on more than 1/2 acre, you'll find a detached, two-car garage and ample parking upon the paved drive. Follow the lighted decking to the front door. Inside, you'll find 3,300 sf. with 5 bedrooms and 4.5 baths spread over three floors that all offer endless views south and west.
Enter the main floor into the spacious foyer with private powder room. The main level includes the newly remodeled gourmet kitchen (including new appliances and granite countertops). The breakfast bar seats 4 and the adjacent open dining area seats 7 comfortably. The kitchen and dining room are open design - with views galore. The center of the main level is the 2 story Great Room with floor to ceiling stone fireplace. Another Master Suite is on the entry floor (no stairs) with door to rear deck.
The lower level holds a spacious family room with adjacent kids play area (toys, books, desk, keyboard, bumper pool table). The lower level also has two bedrooms and two full baths. Both bedrooms contain bunk beds, twin over full (twin on top, full on the bottom)...ideal for kids and comfortable for adults. There is another large deck off the lower level family room - the house invites you to go outdoors and wonder at the views.
DirecTV is provided at the house for your enjoyment, on a 32" flat screen TV in the main level great room and another TV in the lower family room. Play a family game of bumper pool in lower level. Washer and dryer are located on the lower level.
Wintergreen is a four season resort with something for everyone. Skiing and snow tubing are a two minute drive down Wintergreen Drive. The resort offers 45 holes of Championship golf. Devils Knob, the highest golf course in Virginia, provides 18 holes of mountain golf with dramatic elevation changes and scenic vistas. Stoney Creek, at the bottom of the Mountain, has 27 holes designed by Rees Jones. Wintergreen is also a Top 50 tennis resort (indoor and outdoor) and has endless hiking trails, swimming, and spa services. Take the kids to the Dome (indoor games), the rock wall or bungee jumping at Ouf of Bounds, The Plunge tubing park and Zip Line, or enroll them in the renowned Treehouse children's programs. Make your next family outing, golf weekend, or romantic getaway at Wintergreen!
The resort plans many activities and they differ weekly. Visit WintergreenResort's website

Why the Owner Chose Wintergreen
Wintergreen has something for everyone throughout the year. It offers the best skiing in the Mid-Atlantic region, 45 holes of incredible golf, kids programs, and much more. We enjoy our family time in Wintergreen and want to share it with others.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The views from the back decks of our home are without peer at Wintergreen. Fall/Winter offer direct sunset views over the Blue Ridge. Sit back with a glass of wine and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.
The benefit of being set back off the road, down our long driveway, is a feeling of total privacy. This provides ample space for children and pets to enjoy the outdoors and remain safe at the same time.
it has a formal trail name, but we call this the "waterfall trail" and it is a family favorite! difficulty is Medium.
This trail is "easy" and great for younger kids and their grandparents - great for dogs, too! A nice loop with lots of natural wonders.
We are right next to the Overlook - come see the amazing mountain and sunset views.
Owner's Map of Wintergreen
Nathalie and I (Scott) met at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, which is less than an hour away from Wintergreen. We visited during our school years. We now enjoy taking our two daughters and our dog to Wintergreen for long weekends and holidays. The girls like to hike the Upper Shamokin Waterfall Trail and play tennis. They also enjoy visiting the Dome and Out of Bounds for trampoline, rock wall climbing, putt-putt, and mechanical bull riding! On beautiful summer evenings, we grab a cart and play 9 holes of golf, then enjoy dessert at Devils Knob Grill. Upon returning home, we play Bumper Pool, Scrabble, cards, or build a fire and enjoy Smores. In the winter, our family likes to hit the slopes. The girls learned to ski here when they were 5 and 7 - now they leave us in the dust. There is always something new at Wintergreen...craft shows, wine tastings, concerts. We're sure you'll enjoy our home as much as we do.

About 10 years ago we would go skiing evry year the day after Chridtmas, however as my brothers and I have become older we have busy careers and not too mention my children. A spur the moment idea as a get away came to mind which we could all fit in our plans! I was search and searchin for a comfortable place with my main focus being amazing! Nathalie and Scott were vey inviting on a short notice and made accomidations around the holidays which I know can be difficult. The house was emaculate. The house had a very clean homey feel with eveything I needed at my fingertips. No need to bring linens, paper towels, tissue, shampoo, dish soap...nothing just the family. It was so convient it made it that more relaxing. Nathalie was very organized and very plasant when making our arrangements. We came with Very little snow but we enjoyed every moment of our time playing the bord games provided and enjoying everyones company! Can't wait to contact Nathalie and scott again in the near future. Thanks again for everything.

This property was the perfect getaway for our family. It was the perfect location to base for cycling, hiking with the dogs, and being outdoors. The view from the house is beautiful and it is situated right next to an overlook. The house was wonderfully cleaned and prepared for our arrival and the kitchen was supplied with everything we needed to stay home and cook wonderful meals. The owners were very responsive and helpful in arranging our stay. We will look forward to a return visit next year for more cycling on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

My friends and I have an annual girls weekend in Wintergreen. We have rented this house the past three years and we love it! There is plenty of room for all of us. The views from the house are unbeatable! It is very comfortable. We are within walking distance to many hiking trails. We are also a short drive from many fantastic wineries and breweries. I highly recommend this mountain top beauty!

What a user friendly home! Great for adults and small children. The owners made it so easy with all that they provided for our use. All we had to bring was our food for the weekend and beach towels. They had shampoo, conditioner, soap, toilet paper, napkins, paper towel, paper plates and more. The younger children had plenty of toys & books. Magazines for the adults. Plenty of TV's and DVD. A very comfortable home for all ages. We were there in July and did not miss the AC. Plenty of fans that kept us comfortable. Beautiful look out in walking distance. ( great for family pictures.) In fact, we did take a picture of the 12 of us and someone riding by yelled " great holiday card." Thank you for letting us share your home. Joyce & family

We have rented a lot of vacation houses but this one had all the little extra stuff that makes a stay enjoyable. Didn't have to run out for dish cleaning soap, toilet paper, even aluminum foil, etc... The place was well maintained. A little nice feature was the key code main door. No need to keep track of who had the key. The owners were very reponsive and easy to deal with. Would definitely stay here again. This was springtime so no A/C wasn't an issue---don't know that it would be in the middle of summer.
Owner response:Jim and Peggy, Thanks for being our guests. We're very glad you enjoyed your stay and appreciate the nice comments regarding the positive features of our home. Our home was built without air conditioning, as are many homes on the mountain at Wintergreen. We think the custom builder was "green" before his time! Our home is sited at an elevation of 3,600 feet, surrounded and shaded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. The glorious mountain temperatures are consistently 10 degrees cooler than temperatures in the valley and surrounding cities. Each room has a fan, there are 2 ceiling fans, and numerous windows - the cross breezes create a comfortable setting. This is our 6th summer owning 618DK, and we have not experienced uncomfortably hot conditions in our home. Bring the outdoors in - enjoy the nature! We're always happy to hear from happy guests and would love to have you back. Regards, Scott and Nathalile

This house was both luxurious and comfortable! We had a great time with multiple families-- very kid- and dog-friendly and lots of space to spread out. There is everything you could ever need stocked in the pantry in terms of staples. Right by a trail and a beautiful overlook with a short drive to a pool and playground-- we will certainly be back.

Beautifully decorated and comfortable at the same time, it was plenty spacious for the 12 people (3 generations) in our group and had something for everyone. The kids loved the basement stocked with games, while adults enjoyed the views, gourmet kitchen, taking long walks in the neighborhood, and great special touches throughout. The house was so well furnished - the owners had truly thought of everything we might want or need. We've stayed in lots of rental houses, but never have we felt more at home. The location was really the best of both worlds - we got the great views from being at the top of the mountain, and were also just one street away from Wintergreen Drive –the main road leading to all of the resort facilities. To top it off, owners Nathalie and Scott were fantastic and super accommodating. We'll be back!

This house is really very nice, we were twelve people (and two dogs) spanning three generations, and found the lay-out very accommodating. The wonderful owners have fully stocked the house (with non-perishables), making life easier for us. We enjoyed the hiking trails, the pool, and a day down at Lake Monocan. Can recommend this house without reservation!
