Original 1820 farmhouse and barn, carefully restored, surrounded by acres of lawns, gardens, meadows and fields with many more acres of deep woods behind. 1 bedroom and full bath downstairs, 2 bedrooms and full bath upstairs. Also a small single guest bedroom downstairs. Enclosed outside hot water shower.
The barn, adjacent to the house, has been furnished for use as an office, studio, or quiet retreat from activities in the main house. But it is also a great place for social gatherings.
The farm is located in the village of North Tisbury, an old established West Tisbury neighborhood of historic homes and farms.
Behind the property, at the edge of the woods, is a "special way" open only for walking, biking, and horseback riding. All ages can safely walk or bike on this path through the woods past neighboring farms, to the grocery store, post office, drugstore, sandwich shop and bank. On the main road, which is a short walk from the farm, there is a glass blowing studio where its possible to watch the artists at work, a farm stand, an excellent restaurant serving three meals daily, and Priester's Pond, for fishing only. There are bike paths along the main road, and many many conservation areas open to the public are nearby. One or two miles down the road is the Polly Hill Arboretum, the Town Library, the Farmers Market and Artisans Fair held weekly at the Old Grange, Alley's General Store and the Agricultural Hall, where the Fair is held for 4 days every August.
We're close to (Town Residents Only) Lambert's Cove Beach, a gentle and safe beach for children and the best swimming beach on the Island. Passes are available. West Tisbury also offers access to Long Point, a big surf beach, and from the farm you can bike to Seth's Pond or Icehouse Pond for a quick swim.
We hope you will enjoy all the simple summer pleasures that our town has to offer, and explore the entire Island and its many lovely public beaches and harbors, shops and other amenities. There's so much to see and so much to do. And then return home to the privacy and tranquility of the farm's spacious green lawns, shade trees and gardens. The Vineyard is a magical place.
