Why the Owner Chose Downtown (Viejo Vallarta)
I have lived in Puerto Vallarta almost my entire adult life. when I was researching where to relocate in Mexico I explored all over Mexico, but like Dorothy, I came back to what I consider home and where My children were born and raised. The key is the people of this lovely city. The people of Puerto Vallarta are the kindest and warmest and they adopt you as a friend for life. The location of our home is ideal. One need never have a car. The shops, galleries and restaurants are so close. There are times however when I never leave the house, because it is a wonderful space to relax and just do nothing. I particuarly enjoy the bird watching along the river and observing the arrival of the rains come down the canyon of the River Cuale from the balcony or roof top.

I have lived in Puerto Vallarta since 1965, when I married my architect husband, who had moved here from Mexico City. We lived and raised our children here. Although Puerto Vallarta has grown it is still a jewel on the Pacific coast.

We rented this house, including the studio, for our family of five plus my husband's parents. We were attending a family wedding. We were so glad we opted for renting this house in Viejo Vallerta instead of staying in the hotel zone. The house was a great find for us as it offered us a respite from the hustle and bustle of PV, and it was really a great place to be. Most memorable were cooking great meals and eating them on the spectacular rooftop, watching birds and swimmers along the river from our balcony, playing games at the dining room table, listening to piano songs from our various musicians in the family, and enjoying the art and books in the house. We befriended some musician neighbors and enjoyed an impromptu music and dance party on our street. We loved walking downtown, or to the neighborhood stores for soda and beer, and also could not stop going to our favorite restaurant up the hill, La Esquina de los Caprichos. This house was an excellent home base for us and we highly recommend it to folks who want a little more Mexico in a Mexican vacation.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
