Casa Ix Chel's 3000 square feet can accommodate a group of up to 12 or is great for an intimate party. Step through the gates of Casa Ix Chel and you'll find yourself in a tropical garden containing many species of tropical flowers and fruit trees including coconuts, bananas, papayas and lemons. Walk up the path to the home and you will find the swimming pool, which has a shallow section designed for lounging submerged, and the outdoor eating area surrounded by palms and bougainvillea. The home and gardens sit on a quarter acre lot.
The home stands three stories tall. The architect used many curved lines and lots of exposed wood so there is definitely a nautical feel. Enter through the front door and you'll find the first living room, a great spot to read and relax. There is a small bar that connects with the large kitchen. The dining area has a picture window overlooking the pool and gardens. The kitchen is brand new and has a six burner gas stove, range hood, dishwasher, two basin sink, and a large refrigerator, all stainless steel.
You'll find the master bedroom on the first floor. It has a king size bed imported from Java. The master bath has a double vanity and a shower with hand molded tub. There is also a powder room on the first floor for guests and people coming in from the pool area.
Make your way to the second floor and you'll find the second living area. There is a television sitting area and a large wrap around porch overlooking the pool and gardens. There are two bedrooms on this floor, one with a king size bed and one with a queen size bed, both with private bathrooms.
The third floor is home to the crow's nest. Here you'll find two bunk beds, each with a double bed and a single bed. There is also a nice bathroom with shower.
Additional features include cable, DVD, wireless internet, all linens, and an outdoor shower and bathroom.
"Downtown" Tamarindo is a short 4 blocks and the beach is 3 blocks from our home.

This exotic paradise beach town is only enhanced by a stay in this beautiful property. The house and garden are gorgeous and very private. The pool wrapped around the front of the house is amazing and very welcoming. We found the property to be very clean and spacious, plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen was "state of the art" with everything we could possibly need to cook our fresh fish and groceries. It is a short walk to the beach, excellent restaurants, shopping, grocery stores, etc. We took a deep sea fishing tour, estuary tour to see the howling monkeys and our favorite was the zip line tour at Pura Aventura. We stayed 11 days so we had plenty of time to see the sites, take tours, visit the beach and relax at the house pool, our favorite location to relax. The staff was very accommodating with any needs or questions we had, but they stayed out of sight most of the time we were there. If we needed anything, they were just a call away. And the staff was so friendly, we looked forward to greeting them when they did stop by. It was also very nice to have 2 sets of washers/dryers on the property to wash our clothes and towels. This was the best vacation we have ever had and we will definitely recommend it to our friends. We can't wait to go back.

Location on this property can't be beat. The pool was a blessing in the 95 degree temp we had all week. However..............if you want privacy on this property forget it. During the week and I mean M-F the back of the house where the washer and dryer are located is the meeting area for locals hired to care for this property and others, anytime from 7am to 4pm someone is walking through the yard to collect something or wash something from another property (nice people just doing their job). But still it got old real fast. The area behind the house is in shambles there's nothing but junk located back there. We did our laundry a couple times and it wasn't a pleasant place to be. The house itself could use a good cleaning. Not to mention when you would open the kitchen drawers you would wonder if a not so little cockroach was going to be there. All the bedrooms have bathrooms which is great. However the crows nest shower has nothing but cold water. So whoever stays there may have to shower in another bedroom if they want hot water. The house has been well used. Garbage collection happens (we believe) once a week outside the villa so it was pretty smelly when you exited to go out. All said and done we made the best of it and the place grew on you.
