A few colleauges and I stayed here during a conference. I have to agree with previous reviews that the pictures simply do not do the house justice. What an amazing place. there were 10 of us but we did not feel crowded at all. The house has 16 foot ceilings on both floors with lots of wonderful detailed crowning and such. The kitchen was a great place to hang out and had everything we could think of. We had a couple of get-togethers and everyone was amazed at the house. And that master bathroom! Wow! Karen was great, she met one of us to let us in and show us around and always responded very quickly to any questions we had. Really, what a great place! I can't wait for the next conference to stay there again!

My 3 kids - ages 22, 20 & 16 - had an amazing time at this house. We stayed 5 nights and would have bought the place if we could have. House was furnished with everything you could need. Felt very safe in the house. My daughter played the piano for me and I thought that was a big plus having a tuned piano for guest. This house would easily hold many more people, but the four of us were very happy in the house. Thank you Karen for all your emails as that made me very comfortable knowing I was getting a nice place after traveling several states away. AC worked great - no moldy or weird smells - just really perfect. Thanks for allowing us to enjoy the big easy, in a big easy way.

This house is amazing. The pictures do not do it justice. The house was lovingly restored and everything was impeccably maintained. The decor was period appropriate without being stuffy and there was plenty of room for our group of 6 adults. The location is awesome too. It's in a beautiful neighborhood, close to shops and restaurants and also the World War II museum. We really felt like we were locals staying in this house. The WWII museum is a must see. . .even if you think you know everything about WWII, the experience provided by the museum is really unique. We had several amazing meals on Magazine St.; La Petit Grocery and Juan's Flying Burrito just to name a few. Good antique shopping on Magazine too. The property manager was very helpful and accomodating when checking us in and out. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone staying in NOLA.

I was put in charge of finding the accommodations for my Mom's 80th birthday celebration. I am an experienced traveler, traveled all over the world, along with owning my own rental property that I also advertise on VRBO. My Mom, Aunt and Uncle grew up in New Orleans but moved away many years ago. I had to try hard to satisfy them since they were very familiar with the homes in the area. I did tremendous research before committing to this property. Luckily, no one was disappointed with my selection. From the moment you walk into this home, you can tell it is oozing with New Orleans charm. What a wonderful place. From the super high ceilings, wood floors, floor to ceiling windows, to the moldings and claw footed tub, we felt like we were living in the past. Don't get me wrong, all the modern conveniences were there such as two great working air conditioners and a gourmet kitchen. Our group of 9 people ranging from 21 to 80 had an awesome time. We were not disappointed with anything in this lovely home. Check in was so easy. There was someone waiting for us upon our arrival to give us keys and tell us how everything worked and what we needed to do when we left. The home is very centrally located to the city. If you do not have a car, you can easily walk two blocks to the street car that takes you almost any where you need to go. There is a small convenience store about a block away, a regular grocery store (Breaux Mart - 3233 Magazine St.) and a Walgreens (3227 Magazine) about a mile away going uptown. It is pretty hard to get lost. I am also a runner and ran different directions each day. The first day we ran to the French Quarter and back (about 5 miles) and the next day we ran uptown on Magazine to Napoleon to St. Charles and back (also about 5 miles). The following day I drove a few miles to Audubon Park for another great run. Although being hot and humid, the scenery was great. We also entertained larger groups during our stay. Everyone seemed to hang out in the kitchen area (where most good parties usually do) and eat the food. There was always plenty of room regardless of the size of the group. Again, I cannot say enough good things about this place. When we return to New Orleans we will definitely stay here again. Todd, thank you for opening up your home. Our trip was perfect.

My daughter graduated from Medical School and we rented the home for the weekend. The home was clean, spacious, and decorated beautifully. The outdoor garden has lovely plants and a great place to sit. The ceiling are very high with beautiful crystal chandeliers. The kitchen is a place I would have loved to have had the time to use. Both the property and owner and manager were very available for questions. This is a wonderful home that you would be lucky to rent.

I really could go on and on but after reading the other reviews, they say it all. We stayed for Mardi Gras 2011 and had a wonderful wonderful time. We used to live in New Orleans and since Katrina, have spent every Mardi Gras at either a friend's house or a hotel. This was fantastic - like having our own house in New Orleans again. Todd (owner) and Karen (manager) could not have been easier to work with. The house was tons larger than I expected and the pictures really do not do it justice. For our crowd - we spent 99% of the time either in the kitchen (great space) or on the side porch/patio. As for the beds - what a great surprise to find nice 100% cotton sheets on the beds. We are already in the process of booking for next year's Mardi Gras and I'm sure will be calling them concerning other great New Orleans events (Art for Art's Sake, French Quarter Festival, and maybe even a Saints game or two) Again - the other reviews say it all. Todd and Karen, thanks again! Beth

We had a wonderful time in New Orleans, our three sons and their wives/girlfriends, my father and my husband had all never been to New Orleans and we had a blast! The house was amazing, everyone loved it. The neighborhood was just fabulous, we loved the little restaurant down the street: Surry's. The shops down Magazine Street were really nice too. All our sons said it was their favorite vacation spot ever, they are all musicians and really enjoyed all that New Orleans had to offer. Thank you Todd for your beautiful home.

We had so much fun! The House was AMAZING and the pictures do not do this place justice. New Orleans has a lot to do and some of my family did not want to leave the house it was so comfortable. It was like being at home. We had 11 people in the house and it was more than enough room. The house manager was very helpful and the owner is very flexible. About a 1 mile walk to the convention center or short drive to the city, and just a short walk (1-2 blocks) to a great breakfast spot and shops. I can’t say enough about this home; it is a must to have when visiting New Orleans. See you next year!

My family (wife and twin daughters) and four work friends from Australia and the UK stayed here during a recent conference. It was absolutely fabulous! Todd is a delight to deal with and when we had a small plumbing problem he was there in an instant to fix it all. They configured the bedding as we needed, the walk down to the conference centre was very pleasant and it was closer (and substantially less costly) than many of the hotels. We even hosted a dinner party for 13 on the last night of our stay! Would definitely stay there again and can not recommend highly enough. Thanks

My husband and I ultimately chose this home (last year,on vrbo) as the lodging place for our group vacation to New Orleans in the Spring of 2010. At the time, there were ten-to-twelve of us committed to this trip (most of us live on the West Coast). We could not have been more delighted with our choice! Upon arrival, the custodian was more than friendly and accomodating: She said that we could contact her for any help, if in fact, we needed any during our stay. We also had contact with the owner, Todd, as we were checking-in. We were provided with flexible check-in and check-out times as well, and this was most helpful to our large group (leaving at different times). And speaking of checking-in, it was fun to see all of our friends as they trickled into the home that afternoon and evening. Not only were we NOW in New Orleans, but the realization that we had an incredibly comfortable, large, swanky, historic home to call our own, was a great start to our vacation. There was more than enough space for all of us and plenty enough room to freely move about. But we all seemed to congregate in the same place, the fabulous kitchen. My mother and sister even came over one afternoon and cooked a pot of Gumbo for us all! We also spent lazy evenings out on the balcony and out back on the patio--reminicing and laughing about our college years of so long ago! A time when we were young and foolish, and actually lived in a place called New Orleans, Louisiana............ Not only is this grand house within walking distance to coffee shops and resteraunts, but you are literally in the heart of the city, close to both Uptown and Downtown. But dont overlook the chance to just hang-out in this incredible home and sit back and relax. Open up the windows and take in the sights and sounds of New Orleans right from your door-step: a sunny morning drinking coffee on the back porch, an afternoon rainstorm, the sound of a horse-drawn carriage. Welcome to a true New Orleans experience!

We were blown away when we entered this house. It was much larger than we were expecting. The photos unfortunately don't do it justice on this front. The kitchen alone is larger than my entire apartment. The ceilings are probably 20 feet on both floors. Each of the four rooms are very large, and each is private. The master bathroom is something to behold. It is as large as any of the other rooms in the house. You could live in it. We originally planned on eating out every night during our stay. But the kitchen in this house is so amazing we ended up cooking at home two nights! The neighborhood is also great. We enjoyed watching them film Treme directly across the street from us while sitting on the front porch. The owner et al were extremely hospitable and easy to deal with. Thank you for making our trip 100 times better than we had expected!!

My group stayed here in mid-January 2009 for one of our friends 40th Birthday getaway. The house was great for a group. Great kitchen, great TV room, fantastic bedrooms, nice bathrooms and plenty of room. Location in a nice quiet neighborhood, but very close to St. Charles St, the French Qtr, and the Superdome. Owners were very easy to work with. I would definitely recommend this vacation rental.

I stayed here with four friends and we had a wonderful time. The pictures don't do the house justice. The house is grand- spotless and very comfortable to be in. It was nice being in neighborhood away from the touristy area, yet the Quarter is just a short cab ride away or you could walk to the trolley for a fun cheap way to get downtown. The rental agent was very accommodating. Ready to help in any way- she even gave us a ride downtown our first night! We are already talking about coming back next year!

Excellent accommodations. The house manager is most helpful. She even coordinated an authentic New Orleans dinner, catered in this fabulous home. AC is a plus, especially in the summer months :). We will return.

Had a wonderful time in New Orleans for nephew's graduation from Tulane. This lovely house provided a great family meeting place with its ample sleeping arrangements and good location. Best of all it provided a taste of old New Orleans with its impecably restored and appointed accomodations. Owners and local contact were very helpful and accomodating to our schedule. Definitively recommended!

What a fantastic house! The unbelievably tall ceilings, wooden fixtures, and soft pastels made this feel truly like an old Bayou house, and could never be rivaled by a hotel. It's easy to get to, on a quiet street, and close to trolley and local retailers and eating. I would never want to stay anywhere upon my next visit to New Orleans.

Our group of friends has been coming to New Orleans each year for the last ten years. The first few years, we stayed in a hotel in the Quarter, the next few at the Ritz-Carlton, and the last two years at homes we found on VRBO. For us, the priority is a layout in which we can all be connected and able to talk as a group (usually 8 of us) as much of the trip as possible. This home is perfect for that! The bedrooms are all upstairs, so you can easily step from one to the other to talk. The kitchen, tv room, and formal living area all have enough seating for everyone to sit comfortably to chat. The other priority for our group is location, and this home is ideally suited for spending time on Magazine and in the Quarter. You can set off walking on Magazine or take a quick cab ride to the Quarter. All the conveniences for coffee and quick snacks are within a block. In addition to working for us logistically, the house is really lovely. Windows and light. Well- decorated and preserved. The owners were flexible and easy to work with, and the rate is very reasonable. We expect to be back next year if it isn't all booked up! The "Magazine St." house was "headquarters" for our family reunion during the New Year of 2008. The location was perfect for almost anything one would want to do in the Cresent City. The house is the quintessential New Orleans experience and extremely comfortable. Even though we had less than 10 staying over night we frequently hosted dinners for 20 or more. The kitchen is most accommodating and luxurious. We had all 16 dress up in black and white clothing, from area Thrift Stores, except for Grandmother, who wore red. Our reunion photo was taken in the opulent red and white living room. It was a vacation that will be lovingly remembered by all. 1448 Magazine is highly recommended!
