Tony's 50th Birthday Day Get Away

Guest: Cindy C. (-)
Date of Stay: 10/27/11 Review Submitted: 12/21/11

Casa De Alma was incredible! We came to Santa Fe for a long weekend get away with our good friends to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. We absolutely loved Santa Fe, as well knew we would. but Case de Alma was by far the BEST part of our weekend. The house is perfect in every way: the welcome basket, the gorgeous decor, the luxurious linens, the kiva fireplaces - all of it. And it was perfectly located close into everything. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who wants a high-end get away.

Owner response:Thank you very much for your excellent review. We are delighted you enjoyed our home and had a memorable birthday celebration. We look forward to your return!

Beautiful house with a real southwestern feel. So many lovely details. Walking distance to Canyon for the art galleries and the plaza area for a longer hike. This is the one of the best house I have ever rented. You don't feel like you are in a rental house you feel like you are home.

Owner response:Dara, Thanks so much for your kind comments about Casa De Alma. We're glad you enjoyed our home and its location. We hope you'll return soon! Marilyn and Jay

Casa De Alma is magical...as is Santa Fe

Guest: Mary (Escondido CA)
Date of Stay: 04/07/11 Review Submitted: 04/19/11

We are 6 lovely, artistic, diverse and opinionated women and we arrived at Casa De Alma after a very full day of travel and sightseeing. As we walked through the front door the simultaneous "oohhs and ahhhs" from all of us continued as we walked from room to room, each claiming our own territory ---and all of us equally happy with our choice. The listing description is very accurate and did not disappoint--besides the fabulous decorating, the house was exceptionally clean and well maintained with a location that is close to all but yet very private. The proximity to Canyon Rd and the numerous galleries and restaurants (very fond of El Faro) and the roomy parking area for the van we rented -made our girls 4day getaway easy and very special. We all highly recommend this rental and would gladly rent again there. Thanks, Mary, Carla, Pat, Marilyn, Judi and Bo.

Owner response:Dear Mary, Carla, Pat, Marilyn, Judi, and Bo, Thank you for the wonderful review! We are so delighted you enjoyed our home as well as all the things Santa Fe has to offer. We love El Farrol too! Glad you found it! Hope to welcome you back again soon, Jay and Marilyn

Exceeded expectations

Guest: George and Linda (Austin, Texas)
Date of Stay: 03/13/11 Review Submitted: 04/01/11

Casa De Alma exceeded my expectations in all dimensions. The description and photos on the web were accurate as far as they went, but mere words and photos could not capture the ambience of that property in that setting. In the words of my 11 year old grandson, "it was awsome". The location was just about perfect. Cayon road was literally 2 blocks away and the central plaza was an easy and interesting walk. The whole house was well equiped and lovingly cared for. It was obvious that it was someone's home, not someone's investment. The rental process was flawless and exactly as agreed. The only surprise was that the cleaning crew had activated the alarm before they left but the owner was readily available by phone so it was resolved. I would definetly recommend this most highly to my good friends but not just anyone. I want to be able to go there again.

Owner response:Dear George & Linda, Thank you for your kind remarks about our home. We are so glad it exceeded your expectations! We look forward to having you and your family again -- next time without the alarm surprise! -- Marilyn & Jay

Case de Alma is a true southwest gem. The home is so nicely appointed and provides all the comforts of home. The beds were unbelievably comfortable and the terrace provided a really special place for evening wine and conversation. We loved the short walk to the coffee shop in the morning and Canyon Road in the afternoon. What a fantastic place for our family to meet and reconnect. We rent many vacation homes, and this one truly ranks among the best ~ we will definately be back! The Lindsey Family

Santa Fe Adventure

Guest: JVB/EGE (Bainbridge Island, WA USA)
Date of Stay: 03/22/10 Review Submitted: 04/08/10

When my old college room mate and her husband wanted to run away with us for spring break we decided to escape to Santa Fe. We were fortunate enough to discover Casa de Alma thru a friend. All four of us came away from our Santa Fe adventure with fond memories. The Casa was well equiped for all our needs. Detailed descriptions of the house operation were available. Kitchen was fully equiped and there were plenty of extra linens. We enjoyed the bedroom and bath layout-great for two couples. Three couples could stay easily. In the evening, after exploring the town and surrounding National Parks we had plenty of room to cook meals, play cards or enjoy a delightful Sam Elliott movie. Plenty of outdoor space was provided. The lively arts scene and great restaurants could keep a visitor busy for weeks. We especially enjoyed eating at the Roadhouse and the Tune Up Cafe. Sorry we only had four days. This property will be easy to reccomend. Bacause it is within walking distance of the Canyon Art Scene, this would be a perfect art lovers retreat.

A Magical Stay in the Land Of Enchantment

Casa de Alma exceded our expectations in every way. The warmth and coziness of this beautiful place made us all feel as if it were our own home away from home. The house was pristine, decorated in fine taste and yet homey and welcoming. We especially enjoyed lighting a blazing fire in the kiva each evening before dinner, and settling back with a glass of wine to enjoy our surroundings. The memories will be with us for years to come.

Wow! What a beautiful home. We never rent vacation homes with high expectations because we've been disappointed on many occasions. But Casa De Alma exceeded all of our hopes from the moment we walked in the door. Beautifully decorated, the owners have paid attention to every detail. We since learned that the owner is an architect and was responsible for the home's complete renovation. The location was perfect -- we walked everywhere, despite the snow! We only have the highest of praise for this home!

We were so glad to have discovered Casa de Alma on our last trip to Santa Fe. We shared it with another couple -- plenty of room for everyone to have privacy and nice spaces to be together. The house was perfectly maintained and very clean. The owners were helpful and professional. We loved being so close to Canyon Road where we ate at Geronimo's and El Farol, both wonderful food. Next time we'd love to come back for Christmas, which we understand is a most incredible time to visit Santa Fe.

My wife and I thought this home was not only comfortable and clean but also a good value compared to other places we've stayed in Santa Fe. The owners have thought of every detail. It is the "top of the line" without being "over the top." Very nice place to stay, convenient to Canyon Rd and Plaza. Authentic decor. Perfect neighborhood. We discovered Chocolate Maven Restaurant on this trip...great place for breakfast or lunch -- off the beaten path. We'll be back soon, we hope.

Not sure what else to say other than to agree with what other reviewers have already said! You won't go wrong staying at Casa De Alma, particularly if you enjoy beauty, warmth, authentic southwest ambiance, and the comforts of home. The owners have thought of everything, including robes, nice linens, and great amenities. Since we didn't have the greatest of weather, we were perfectly content snuggling up in front of the fireplace with good books.

Our family stayed at Casa De Alma over the holidays and had a simply divine vacation. It was our first trip to Santa Fe -- a magical time to visit. The house came with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and other festive touches. We couldn't have asked for more. Our kids were bewitched with the fariolitas, the snow, and the many great children's activities. This property is spotlessly clean and well-maintained. We would recommend it most highly.

Designer's Delight

Guest: DosAmigos (Santa Barbara, CA)
Date of Stay: 10/14/09 Review Submitted: 01/27/10

I stayed at Casa De Alma with two of my long-time friends, both interior designers. We chose it because it looks fabulous in the photos and reviews were great. We were not disappointed! The home is beautifully furnished, yet cozy and warm -- full of southwest charm and ambiance. And it was meticulously clean. Each bedroom was a delight with a TV in each room. The neighborhood, too, is gorgeous -- tree-lined street in the middle of the most beautiful area of Santa Fe. We walked everywhere. There is no doubt we'll be back and would recommend Casa De Alma to couples, families, groups of friends. We thought it was a great value for what we would have paid for hotel or B & B accommodations.

Outstanding Home Rental

Guest: TravelingAround (Washington D.C.)
Date of Stay: 09/17/09 Review Submitted: 01/27/10

My wife and I have rented homes in a number of regions in the country in this price-range. By far, Casa de Alma has been the most outstanding, both in its quality and location. While the home has 3 bedrooms, it wasn't so big that we didn't feel right at home. We particularly liked the kiva fireplaces at night and the patio by day. The patio is in a sunny location and even in the cooler periods, it is relaxing for a cup of coffee and reading the newspaper. Everything about this place was perfect, including the owner's response when a problem occurred with the phone/internet. Apparently, a fairly major issue with the phone company caused the DSL to be down for 3 days. The owner did everything they could to assist since I had some business emails that had to get out. In the end, they had a staff person come by with a nice gift certificate to a local restaurant to make up for the inconvenience of having to go to the local library to access internet. We thought that was pretty amazing and kind -- well beyond the type of service and thoughtfulness you expect these days. We highly recommend this Casa.

Perfect location. Right around the corner from the art galleries lining Canyon Road, an easy stroll to all the attractions in downtown Santa Fe. Park your car, settle in, and soak up the ambiance. Santa Fe is a place you really have to experience in person to fully appreciate, pictures just don't do it justice, and there is no better way to experience it than by strolling through its neighborhoods The house is beautifully decorated in Santa Fe style, cozy kiva fireplaces, ceramics, al fresco dining on the patio. All the amenities if you just looking for a place to rest and relax and a nice library of guidebooks if you are looking for a more active vacation. For an enjoyable day trip, check out Bandelier National Monument. Here you can see cliff dwellings, hike to the Rio Grande, there is even a waterfall! Well worth a visit.

I can't say enough great things about this home. I've taken my wife here three times over the past few years. We wouldn't stay anywhere else! The neighborhood is the finest in Santa Fe. The street is quiet and a perfect place to rest and relax when you are not gallery-hopping or sightseeing. Perfection.

My husband and I couldn't have found a more perfect place in Santa Fe. After discovering Casa De Alma, we've decided that hotels are a thing of our past. So lovely to be in a real home in a real neighborhood -- to have a patio and a kitchen, and all the amenities of home. This casa is everything it claims to be and more. The decor is smashing. No glitz. Just comfort and charm. Don't miss Museum Hill -- filled with fabulous museums and also a great lunch spot. We can't wait to come back.

We didn't know that Casa De Alma meant "House of Soul" until we checked in and read the house info booklet. Soul was exactly what this place had -- from the authentic southwest decor to the cozy feel of earthy plaster walls to the kiva fiireplaces. We had a marvelous stay, enjoying every moment of our time here. We loved sitting out on the patio, soaking in the sunshine. We especially loved coming back here after a day of art galleries and shopping. A lovely, lovely spot in Santa Fe! Close to everything! Located in safe neighborhood, which was important to us.

Fabulous Vacation Home

Guest: Chloella (Marco Island Florida USA)
Date of Stay: 08/17/09 Review Submitted: 09/08/09

We had a wonderful time at Casa de Alma. 4 Ladies vacationing together. There was lots of space to both gather and enjoy privacy. The decor was adorable. We are decorators so we really enjoyed all the detail that was taken to give an authentic adobe home it's due.The layout was perfect. The home was very well maintained and we enjoyed the lovely outdoor space. We really enjoyed all the wonderful resturants, especially Geronimo's and The Compound. We walked easily to Canyon Road to the great galleries and resturants, but found the Santa Fe Plaza too far to walk to, We were glad we had a rental car. We would recommend taking the guided tour bus in the downtown area for a good lay of the land. It is an hour and a half and really aquaints you with Santa Fe. Don't miss some of the great museums. All in all we would definitely recommend this property to our friends and family as a great place to stay while visiting Santa Fe. We were fortunate to be there during Indian Market and that was great fun. Also we loved the flea market.

Everything has been thought of here -- from the well-stocked kitchen to the detail of the decor in each room. The location is wonderful -- at the end of a quiet street within walking distance to Canyon Rd. and Plaza. We never used a car. Don't miss the Downtown Subscription coffee shop, a few blocks away. It is not only a great place to get morning coffee but they sell every conceivable newspaper including NYTimes. And its a favorite of all the locals. Makes you feel right at home.

I've stayed at Casa De Alma three times now so I guess it's time to write a review. The good news is that it is the best place I've found to stay in Santa Fe. The bad news is that it is getting so popular that I have to plan ahead to stay there. The owners are delightful, honest, and truly nice people who care about the house, keep it immaculate, and charge a more than fair price for what you get. I particularly love the fully-equipped kitchen. And, well, what isn't there to like about this place! Just look at the photos! It's a great place to stay!

It was amazingly warm and relaxing for a luxury home! Thanks!

Six women shared a fabulous birthday celebration at Casa de Alma. I'd worried that it wouldn't measure up to my hopes. But far from that, it exceeded them...from the goodies waiting for us on the counter, to snuggly robes in the closets, to the sublime patio where we had quiet coffee and late night wine, the home couldn't have been better. Rest assured when you book yourself this treat! An easy ten miunute stroll from Canyon Road galleries too. Be sure to visit Casa Sena for Sunday brunch. Also, book Downtown Day Spa to come out a give you a massage or pedicure on the patio! We'd definitely stay there again. Kathleen, Dallas, TX

My husband, his mother, his sister and brother-in-law and I had a wonderful stay at Casa De Alma. The entire home was beautifully decorated with cozy bedrooms and lovely sitting areas. The kitchen is fully-equipped with up-to-date Cuisinart appliances and the outdoor gated area was perfect for enjoying an evening cocktail and for letting the pups roam around outside.
