We had a fabulous time in a house that we couldn't pronounce the name of! 4 adults and 4 dogs had a really great time, especially the 4 dogs! A great location if you like to be away from it all, like running up and down hills, love road cylcing or mountainbiking, love the beach. The house was very clean and well maintained - the pictures really don't do the house justice. We have rented a lot of houses over the years and this one was the best for us. It is extremely well equipped. They have thought of everything, even down to spare wellies, coats and umbrellas. You don't have to take the whole contents of your own kitchen with you either - which is really appreciated, thank you. The beach at Aberdovey is great, so are the falls at Dolgoch. Sunday lunch in Pennar lovely. Really lots to see and do if you like the outdoors and a terrific place for dogs. Thanks and looking forward to returning. I've already recommended to a number of people.

Owner response:Thank you for your kind review. We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Maesywerngoch. We look forward to welcoming you back very soon. regards susan and nick

Supremely relaxing.

Wonderfully quiet, comfortable, away-from-it-all retreat in a beautiful, scenic location. We arrived all ready to climb as many of Snowdonia's big peaks as we could fit into a fortnight, but were instantly captivated by the farmhouse and it's tranquil surroundings and in the end didn't really venture far from it: lots of superb walks right from the door, enormous garden and grounds to relax in and spacious, well-equipped house - this is a part-time family home rather than just a rental property, and it shows in the quality of the indoor environment. As other reviewers have commented, the location gives occasional problems with water pressure, but the caretakers are both very friendly and lightning-quick in their response: both of the problems we reported during our stay were remedied within minutes, rather than hours or days, of our phone call. We have holidayed in properties all over the UK whilst raising our family, and think this has been the best of all.

Owner response:We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your holiday at Maesywerngoch. We hope to sink a bore hole over the next couple of months to relieve our occassional water pressure problems. We hope to see you again in the not too distant future.

RELAX, ENJOY AND CHILL TO THE MAX ! ! ! !

Accomodation absolutely beautiful grounds stunning and area exceptionally scenic. Really cosy at night and soo quiet. Everything you need for a lovely home from home! Property was immaculately clean when we arrived and everything was better than expected, fresh white sheets on the beds and fluffy white towels. The gardens were beautiful and a pleasure to sit (or lie) out in and just smell the flowers and admire the greenery. It was wonderful for the dogs to be able to run free all day and for us not to have to worry about them. If I had to pick anything that wasn't quiet perfect it would have to be the water pressure, was a bit hit and miss a few times - but so what ! you're on holiday you can afford to just wait. Would highly recommend, if you're looking for high quality accomodation and beautiful surroundings.

Owner response:Dear Amanda, Thank you for your review. We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Maesywerngoch. We are planning to sink a bore hole in the very near future and hopefully that will take care of the water pressure issues. We hope to have you visit again in the near future. Best, Susan And Nick

This is now the fourth time that we have stayed at Machynlleth, our repeat visits testimony to what a wonderful place and blissful time we have when we are there. The house is always immaculate, warm and welcoming and the gardens simply have to be seen - they are breathtaking. This time we wandered further taking walks for hours, our dogs are wiped out for hours (so are we!). All our arrangements always go incredibly smoothly and Mr. and Mrs Heard who look after the house are lovely. We will go again, we relax instantly and have family time together, which we all love. It really is very very beautiful.

Owner response:Dear Sarah and family, Thank you very much for your kind review. We are very happy to hear that you are enjoying Maesywerngoch and look forward to welcoming you again. Best Regards, Susan and Nick

We had a lovely stay at Maesywerngoch - the house and its location are truly exceptional. It is the best cared for property that we have stayed in - very comfortable, warm and immaculately clean. And the grounds are beautiful. I'm already missing that amazing view from the bedroom. It was such a treat to be somewhere so remote and quiet. And I've never seen our dog so happy - he had such much fun exploring the grounds.

Unsurpassed

The house, grounds and location are delightful. After renting many villas, cottages, apartments and houses since we started exploring Europe in 2002 we found this gem to be easily the best using just about any criteria imaginable. We felt instantly at home and immediately asked ourselves why we had not planned to stay longer. The Aga stove is a truly remarkable device. It is so efficient that we turned the central heating off. We doubt that anything could be added to make this haven any more attractive. Thank you for having us as guests.

A very special place...

We stayed at this fantastic home during our first trip to the UK. After staying 4 nights in London and 3 in Scotland, we drove to this home in Wales. If you are looking for a secluded, private setting...this is it. It was so dark at night that I never saw so many stars in my life! And the house is just magnificent..charming and rustic but with every modern amenity you could want! My husband wished we could take the house and move it here to Pennsylvania! And the grounds around the home are absolutely fantastic, like something out of a fairytale.....streams, flowers, paths...my only disappointment was that we didn't explore more! Be aware that this is a secluded setting....but after staying at two places with shops and restaurants in walking distance we wanted something different and we really got what we were looking for at this fantastic property. Looking out at the mountains, you really get that "I'm in Wales!" feeling. The home is even more beautiful than the pictures capture (especially the grounds) and it was a pleasure doing business with the owner - she provided so much information for us, even giving us tips on what to do on our drive down from Scotland. I would highly recommend this property and hope we have the pleasure of staying there again.

For a quiet get-away in beautiful area, I don't know that you can do better. It's not possible to capture how beautiful the surroundings are in pictures... the stream & garden are amazing & the house has every comfort you could want.

My family and I have now stayed at the farmhouse twice and have loved every moment on each visit. No photographs can do justice to this drop of paradise. The house is decorated with impeccable style, is extraordinarily comfortable and clean. To submit a review on line has quite stringent guidelines and I suspect that I have been too passionate or 'artistic' in previous descriptions, which have failed the approval process. I can only emphasise that we love the farmhouse, the tranquility and the peaceful family holidays we have been able to enjoy here. The fact that we are also booked to stay later in the year hopefully drives home just how exquisite it is. The owners have always been extremely helpful, quick to respond and happy to give advise on places to visit. The cleaners and gardeners are lovely people and take clean the house to almost new, the gardens are an experience. We can only say -go and as soon as possible.

Owner response: Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We are so happy that you all enjoyed the house, garden and surrounding area. We so look forward to welcoming you back in the coming months.

We cannot say enough about our wonderful stay at Maesywerngoch. The house is absolutely beautiful and the grounds are gorgeous. We were blessed to have warm sunny weather our entire stay - quite unusual for early Spring! The daffodils were blooming everywhere and at night we were able to view the stars unimpeded. It was quite peaceful- so peaceful in fact that our first night home I had difficulty sleeping because it was not quiet enough! The house itself is extremely comfortable and well equipped. We especially loved the cozy living room and the AGA stove in the kitchen (even though we did not cook in it we loved the warmth it emitted in the chilly evenings). Thank you so much to Susan, Terry and Janet- we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are extremely grateful for letting us extend our stay due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland!

Fantastic! My wife & Kids Fredi (8) & Alfie (3) have just spent a week (Easter) at the above property and we have had a fabulous time. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone, it is in the most idyllic location and the cottage is superbly finished off. We have spent a week walking, cycling, crabbing and damming the local streams. On the journey home my wife and I were discussing when we should go back.

Maesywerngoch is a beautifully appointed and well maintained farmhouse. It's peaceful and delightfully remote being about 3 miles up an unpaved forestry track. The gardens are beautiful and there are great walks directly from the doorstep as well as wonderful scenery in the surrounding areas at Pennal, Machynlleth and Aberdyfi. The cottage has many fine original features. With an Aga in the kitchen and a wood-burning stove in the lounge, as well as conventional heating, it was lovely and warm inside even though the temperatures plummeted to -14 while we were there! We'd recommend a 4x4 vehicle to access the property, especially in winter.

Peace and tranquility with no missing luxuries.

Whilst the location is definitely remote, as long as you have a car you can easily get around to some beautiful locations for days out with the added advantage of being able to walk out the back door and head off in any direction for a long walk with beautiful views and scenery. The cottage is fully equipped with everything that we needed for our stay; the Aga was just wonderful to cook on and made me feel very at home. There really is not anything that is missing. All the furnishings and rooms are to a very high standard and I don’t feel that anything has been left out. The SKY box is a plus on a wet day but really with so many places to visit we didn’t use it that often. We loved the wet room on the ground floor and the other bathrooms are to a very high standard. The peace and tranquility that we experienced during our stay really let us unwind and totally relax. The cottage is extremely clean and the people who look after it do so impeccably as though it were their own home. The kids had a great time and while I probably would be slightly concerned to stay with very young children, my own children who are age 13 and 9 had a simply wonderful time and never once said they were bored! In fact they want to go again! I can’t recommend this holiday home highly enough, I have stayed in many over the years and very few are as well looked after and as comfortable as this one. Congratulations and keep up the good work. Alex, Megan & Ryan
