Karen and Jerome, thank you for your hospitality and being very prompt to anything that we needed. The plunge pool was great and very refreshing after a long walk. The accommodations were very clean and exactly as described. Francesica was a gem. Jerome and 'Scabby' provided an entertaining and informative boat tour. We would gladly recommend this property to anyone wanting an independent stay in beautiful St. Lucia. Thanks again.

Excellent base for independent holiday in St Lucia

We were looking for somewhere, non-resort, for an independently arranged holiday. Cas en Bas was perfect. Well presented with pretty much everything you might need, including small but important things like wi-fi, safe, along with the bigger things like a plunge pool, fully equipped kitchen and sun terrace. Karen and Jerome were perfect hosts; available and responsive when required. Consider using Jerome's business - Israel King Water Taxis - we enjoyed a sunset cruise on our last evening. We ate well locally using Trip Advisor as our guide. We also explored some of the area finding remote beaches, but be warned, when they tell you the road is rough, they mean it - a proper 4x4 is required for some of them. Highly recomended. PS ATV Paradise tours are a blast !

St. Lucia Homecoming

The owners (Karen & Jerome) are a true pleasure and their very clean apartment, located to the side and under the main house, is a peek into the "real" St. Lucia complete with the sights & sounds you would not find at a resort. The living room was comfortable, as was the bathroom. Apart from a low and somewhat hard bed, one is not really lacking in the amenities of a hotel suite.You will need a SUV to climb and navigate the hill and rough road up to the home. The location is ideal with all of the North's activities a short 5 minute drive away. Stock up at the nearby grocery store before arriving and then relax around the plunge pool and read yourself to sleep. We will recommend to family and friends.

Owner response:Hi George and Beth. Many thanks for your review. We are pleased you enjoyed your return to St. Lucia. We are sorry you found the bed to be a little low and hard. It does have a firm mattress as we know this is the preference of most guests and several reviewers (Christina from Ottawa, Rick & Starr and Vanessa & Tony) have all commented on how comfortable the bed is! We always recommend if guests are hiring a vehicle to take a small 4 x 4 (such as a Terios or Jimny) and are happy to to recommend hire companies. The main roads in St. Lucia are good, but side roads all over the island can be a bit rough (we are a small island!). With a 4 x 4 guests are not restricted where they can explore. As you mention we are very well located near to all the amenities and beaches in the north of the island. Many thanks for your recommendations! Update November 25th - our road has since been re-surfaced, so is no longer rough and bumpy!

CAS en BAS apt

This apt. was very comfortable and was everything it claimed to be. It was attractive, well maintained and had all the basics needed to cook simple meals. We very much appreciated the air conditioned bedroom and the plunge pool. The view of the surrounding hillsides and sunrises was lovely. The pool area was a great place to relax after our daily hikes around the northern part of the island. We didn't try to drive as we are not accustomed to driving on the left side of the road. Next time we will probably be braver and rent a 4x4, as walking up this steep hill everyday to reach our apt. was a work out for us. Taxis will bring you right to the gate, but not the local bus. It was about 1/2 mile trek at a steep climb from the nearest bus stop up to the apt. Karen and Jerome were very flexible and willing to accommodate our needs. We also appreciated the little extras like the cold beers in the fridge to get us started and even fresh flowers each week to enjoy. Thank you, Karen and Jerome!

Owner response:We are pleased you enjoyed your vacation. Many thanks for the review! Most of our guests do hire a vehicle and so far no one has had any problems! Those that do not, tend to walk down the hill in the morning to catch the bus, but take a taxi back at the end of the day! Or some guests just use taxis. You can actually take quite a few taxis for the day around the local area for the cost of a days car hire! But a lot of people like the convenience of having the car all the time and it's great to have for exploring further afield. We hope you will visit again!

Low season ( Sept 11) was brilliant for us

Absolutely as described and previously reviewed. Helpful owners who kindly provide some of the basics- seasonings, herbs, washing up liquid and powder so you really don't need to bring it with you!. Very comfortable and relaxing fortnight during low season. Remember to ensure any hire cars have lockable wheel nuts- we didn't, guess the rest! High point of holiday was a wonderful day trip with the Jerome on his boat 'Israel King' down the western coast to the Pitons with snorkeling at two bays, lunch ashore in Soufriere and a spectacular sunset off Pigeon Island; would suggest doing when skin acclimatised to the sun. Rodney bay has some numerous restaurants to meet every taste, Fire Grill was our favourite. The 'jump up' in Gros Islet' is an experience; open air cooking, cold beers and live music, you just can't resist the beat. Don't park near the church- see above re wheels! Much better to ring Donald from Liquid Sunshine taxis and save the hassle. 4 weeks since return, tan starting to fade but the memories of fun in the sun remain fresh- many thanks :) :D

Sorry you had the problem with your spare tyre at the Jump up in Gros Islet. Most hire companies do secure the spare either with lockable nuts or padlock (depending on its' location). But it is worth future guests checking. You are the first people in my 8 years here that I have heard have had this problem... It seems you were unlucky. Serene and Authentic Experience!

My husband and I stayed here for two weeks from July into August. From the moment we arrived, Jerome and Karen were wonderful "hosts" and were always there when we needed them. They have mastered the art of being available, while not being intrusive at all. The cell phone they provide is helpful and they always answered or returned our calls promptly. We relied on their input for a few excursions and ideas for travel and it was nice to have them as a resource. Jerome operates a water taxi service and he took us on a day trip the the Pitons. It was spectacular! The apartment is accurately depicted in the photos. It is spacious and secure. We appreciated the bars on the windows for extra safety since it is on ground level. However, the property itself is also secure, as it has a locking entry gate. The location is ideal because of the wonderful breeze that comes from the Atlantic Ocean. It is quite refreshing and keeps the property cool. Coming around and into the apartment, we were surprised by how refreshing the breeze was to us on a hot day! There is a nice view of the ocean and the shubbery around the patio is beautiful. The plunge pool was by far my favorite thing about this apartment (aside from the hosts)! We loved coming home from our daily excursion and having a cocktail in or near the pool. It gets nice afternoon sun and it is so tranquil. We did hear the neighbors from time to time, but that is to be expected in any neighborhood. We actually enjoyed the sounds of St. Lucia--especially the goats in the next yard. It was quite entertaining to hear them on their more active days. This never disrupted our stay, though. Lastly, we loved the "extra" things that were not expecting...These included: a Brita to filter the tap water, fresh cut flowers, fruit, bug spray, spices and seasonings to name a few. It was a pleasant surprise to find these things. We loved our stay and cannot believe what a bargain it was in comparison to other properties. We did rent a 4x4 and made great use of it it during our stay. There are some great beaches that are more hidden. Our favorite was Smugglers Beach. It has a hammock attached to a cliff over the ocean!

Die Einliegerwohnung in einem Privathaus verfügt über ein grosses Schlafzimmer mit individuell einstellbarer Klimaanlage und Ventilator und voll eingerichteter Küche mit Wohnzimmer und Ventilator und ist in einer ruhigen Wohngegend gelegen und doch nahe beim Touristenzentrum und Strände. Wir genossen die Privatsphäre auf dem Sitzplatz mit Pool und der schönen Aussicht. Die Meeresbrise war wundervoll. Vielen Dank Karen und Jerome für den schönen Urlaub.

The flat, part of a private house, consists of a large bedroom with an individual AC and celing fan, fully fitted kitchen with a living room and ceiling fan and is in a calm residential area close to the tourist center and beaches. We enjoyed the private outdoor sitting area with a pool and the beautiful view. The sea breezes were wonderful. Many thanks Karen and Jerome for a wonderful vacation. "

A perfect getaway

Our family of four (9 & 1 year old) stayed here for two weeks and it couldn't have been nicer. The owners are truly gracious and go out of their way to make sure you are informed and have everything you need. It's the little things that count, so here's what we appreciated most, above and beyond all the great things the other reviewers wrote. 1) The kitchen was stocked with some food items we needed upon arrival, which is nice when you're traveling with little ones. 2) The St Lucian cell phone they provide is invaluable, both for calls within the island and calling the USA. It was only about 50 cents USD per minute for calls to the US. 3) Fresh flowers in the kitchen and bedroom. 4) No need to bring a power converter, the house is wired for dual currents and has dual outlets. 5) Owners are only a knock or phone call away. 6) The little pool is perfect, we used it every day. 7) Being at the top of a hill, the breezes are practically constant which is lovely. 8) Unlike many places we've stayed, the wireless internet here works all the time and is fast. Some things to consider. An SUV is practically mandatory for navigating 75% of St Lucian roads. The cellular coverage is EXCELLENT in St Lucia. Make sure you get a data plan before you leave, and use your smart phone to navigate around as there are no street names. If staying here, try and fly into SLU to avoid a very long drive from the other airport.

Owner response:Dear Sam. Thanks very much for the review! We agree if guests are hiring a vehicle that a 4 x 4 is best and always recommend this. All the main roads in St. Lucia are good but once you go off the beaten track many roads are unmade. SLU airport is very convenient (only about 15 minutes drive to Rodney Bay) but unfortunately there is only one international flight from the USA (American Eagle via San Juan) that arrives here. Most international flights arrive into the international airport UVF in the south of the island, which is where most of our guests arrive. Most hire a vehicle at the airport and drive up. To date no one has had any problems or got lost with my directions! It is 1 1/2 hours drive to Rodney Bay, which is the main tourist area on the island, so pretty much all the visitors arriving into the country have this transfer. It is a scenic drive up the east coast if you arrive during daylight hours. We were so pleased to host your family and are happy you had a great vacation.

Ideal Jazz Location

We spent 2 weeks in this wonderful clean apartment in May2011, it was an ideal location for jazz and very central to all the amenities and social activies. Having a plung pool really did it for me and my husband. Karen & Jerome are wonderful people and very helpful. Although my husband was from the island comming back to the island was heaven, this was a great private get away. Thanks to both of you.

Perfect for experiencing St. Lucia

My husband and I stayed for 16 days in this lovely apartment. It is situated in a very quiet, nice residential St. Lucian neighbourhood (as opposed to posh off-island mansion estate area). Being located on a hill, there are continual cooling ocean breezes. The owners are very friendly and helpful and are happy to help to arrange tours or give information about their island. The apartment is attached to the owner's home, but has a feeling of complete privacy. The entrance to the apartment is at the side of the house. When you enter, there is a large kitchen/living room. The kitchen is completely outfitted for four people; there is no dining table, but we often ate outside anyway. There are stools in front of the kitchen counter, but they are too tall to be comfortable. The living room has two chairs and a fouton couch that folds down to a bed. Beyond the kitchen is a very large, if sparse, bedroom with very comfortable bed, and a bathroom with shower and tub. All is spotless and well kept. The tiny plunge pool is terrific at the end of a long hot day. The apartment is not located in a tourist area. We rented a car, and got around the whole island. If not car rental, you could walk down a few blocks to the main road and catch a bus. Or arrange to go on a tour. If you want to avoid the resort crowd and really get a taste of St. Lucia, I highly recommend this place.

The golf course is also close by in the other direction. By the way we have chopped 3 inches off the kitchen stools so they are much more comfortable now! The hillside apartment was perfect for us. Very clean, comfortable, and we felt safe. Karen & Jerome were very helpful in giving tips for exploring the island, etc. We went to sleep and awakened to the sounds of crickets and birds - a wonderful summertime feeling for us Northerners. :) I would stay here again - much more spacious than a hotel, more amenities, and half the price!

Amazing Honeymoon Location

My wife and I just returned from an amazing trip! Karen and Jerome are so much more helpful than we could have ever imagined. Whether you want to do touristy activities or just sit on beautiful beaches, they are more than happy to point you in the right direction. The apartment is fantastic and in a great central location. Everything is extremely clean and functional. Overall, the trip was a huge success and the main reasons were Karen, Jerome, and their fantastic apartment! PS. if you want the best tour of the entire island ask Jerome to take you around on his boat. Very reasonable and way better than taking a tourist tour!!!!

This was so much better than staying in a hotel or resort - Karen and Jerome were friendly and knowledgeable about how to get to places, what to do on the island, etc. I came over Christmas and did not rent a car (unless you are a supremely confident driver, I wouldn't advise renting), and Karen got the taxi driver to stop at a grocery store on the way from the airport so I could get food for over the holiday. The apartment was very comfortable and clean, conveniently located (beaches on either coast were walkable, as was the bus at Gros Islet). It was very helpful that they provided a local cell phone to use, as well as a washing machine, an in-room safe, and wireless. I did a lot of walking while I was there, in addition to taking taxis and buses to various attractions elsewhere on the island, and the dipping pool was fantastic to come home to. This is such a stress-free way to see the island; unlike at resorts, you are completely free to do exactly what you want, when you want it. Such a wonderful vacation!

St Lucia Experience

The apartment was very nice, clean and the hosts were very accomodating. We had a problem with mosquitoes in the apartment especially in the bedroom and we determined they were getting in around the screens as they were slightly bent. Our host promptly fixed them. We asked if there was a BBQ we could use and they gave us theirs! It is a very nice place. I slipped on the tile outside by the plunge pool and my recommendation would be to put down some non-skid mats where the water pools on the tile. We feel this part of the island is the nicest, the traffic is pretty bad however, from there to Castries. All in all we enjoyed our stay.

Owner response:Dear Trudy. Thank you for your review and comments. Concerning mosquitoes St. Lucia (and much of the Caribbean) lies within the Tropics. Mosquitoes are therefore unavoidable but more of a nuisance than a danger as we have no malaria here. We are fortunate that mosquitoes are not a big problem for the apartment due to the cooling Atlantic breezes. You will note from previous reviews that no other guests have even mentioned them! However, we do provide nets on all windows (and as you mention, Jerome fixed the gap in one of these as soon as you mentioned it) and a spray which we recommend to all guests to use in the bedroom at dusk. We further recommend that the main door is closed at dusk. We are sorry you slipped by the pool. However, the tiles around the pool are non skid and we are not aware that any other guests have had any problems. We do note that there had been a heavy rain shower just before you slipped and there would have been quite a lot of water on top of the tiles. We would recommend to all guests that they should exercise caution around ANY tiled pool when the tiles are wet. You are correct that the Rodney Bay area is a very nice part of the island. Beaches, the marina, the golf course and the best shops and restaurants on the island are all located within 5 minutes drive of the apartment. Should guests need to drive to Castries (to pass to the south of the island) it is usually a 15 minute drive. As you visited in the days leading up to Christmas the traffic was much heavier than usual (as in many places of the world). Christmas traffic is beyond our control! As a general rule the traffic from Rodney Bay to Castries will be a bit heavier between 7am - 8am and 5pm - 6pm. Thank you for your kind comment about us being accommodating. We endeavour to be as helpful and accommodating to all guests as we can and answer all guest queries. As you mention, we lent you a BBQ (which we are happy to do for any guests that request it) and we also lent you a laptop for the last few days of your stay as you had travelled without one (free Wi-Fi is provided). We are pleased you had an enjoyable stay and hope you will choose to visit our beautiful island again.

Lovely, relaxing time

We spent 2 weeks at Karen and Jerome's apartment in early December and had a very relaxing time. The apartment is just as presented: fully furnished and comfortable. We had breezes every day, and being December, the pool was "refreshing." One of the nice things about the early winter is that the deck area is in partial shade from about 10 am on, receiving full shade during the hottest (and sunburning-est) time of the day. Not so in the summer, but an umbrella is provided. It is a bit of a hike to the main road, and parts of it are very steep, so good shoes are a must, unless you rent a vehicle. We were able to shop at the new and very well stocked grocery store which is a short bus-ride away, and took a taxi back to the apartment ($10 US). The apartment is in a neighborhood, so you can hear the occasional goat or horse (but surprisingly few roosters)! The neighbors next door pretty much ignore you, and the pool area is quite well shielded from view, adding to your privacy. We had an excellent experience, and will certainly be back!

Apartment close to Rodney Bay - nice area for adventure!

My husband and I recently attended a wedding in Saint Lucia. This apartment was very attractive to us as it was near the resort where the wedding was at, near many of the attractions in the Rodney Bay area, and it was within our price range. We were able to walk to the Gros Islet Friday night street party for some local food, and we generally used taxis to get around for the remainder of our stay. We only needed to rent a car one of the days that we were on the island to go down to Soufrie, but the majority of everything else was arranged by a tour or we did beach days close by the apartment. The apartment provided everything that we needed to cook breakfast, lounge by the plunge pool, do laundrey, and we had quite a few relaxing evenings here after our long beach days. Karen and Jerome were quite helpful with everything, and we ended up using their recommended taxi service, which was perfect for what we needed. Highly recommend this apartment!

St Lucia Apartment

My experience in St. Lucia was amazing. We stayed at this apartment and I couldn't have asked for anything more. The view is amazing and even more gorgeous in person. The private pool was great, it has a spot light on it for night time which is really nice as well. The apartment was kept very clean and was very well maintained. You get a lot for your money! It is located in a very quiet area, and is close by to restaurants, nightlife, beaches, horseback riding, shopping, and much more. The owners, Karen & Jerome were great as well. They were always willing to answer any questions, make suggestions of places to visit, or even give directions. They provided us with a cell phone to make local calls which was very helpful. I would recommend this apartment over sandals or any other hotel any day because you are not surrounded by the constand people in hotels. It is more private and relaxing, and the owners as I said are just great!!!!!!! We hope to go back and visit in the near future and Jessica & Emilio Ramos

Excellent Vacation!

We had a wonderful stay in July, and Karen and Jerome were great hosts. They answered all the questions we had and were very easy to work with. They helped us make the most of our short trip, and we were able to see a great deal of St. Lucia while there. I do recommend renting a 4x4, as it allowed us to travel to different parts of the island at our leisure. The apartment itself is beautiful and very well-maintained. We were quite comfortable there and looked forward to coming back to it at the end of each day. The location is ideal in that it is off the main road but still very convenient to everything. The cell phone that is provided is also quite nice for making local calls. St. Lucia is an amazing island, and we would love to return sometime. Thank you for having us!

The Sylvester apartment was wonderful and so was the island! We plan to return and encourage all those interested in traveling to St. Lucia to stay here and rent a SUV. If your interested in really living the island life and culture than staying in this apartment is the best option. PROS: free mobile phone during stay, Ipod player, cable tv, comfortable bed and pillows, cold A/C, private pool, Atlantic breeze, and great views CONS: We had to come back to work! Of course you can visit St. Lucia anytime and we would highly recommend staying with Karen and Jerome, but why not hop a plane off-season (better rates) and vacation in St. Lucia? That’s what we did in June 2010. If you’d like to enjoy the peaceful beauty of St. Lucia we definitely recommend this property set in a residential neighborhood in Cas En Bas. The quaint, clean and well-appointed apartment is fully equipped with plunge pool, sun deck, fridge, stove, living area, bedroom and on suite bath. Close to many attractions such as Rodney Bay (check out Spinnakers), Cotton Bay (check out Marjorie’s booster rocket), Pigeon Island (check out the pub and restaurant after a hike up the signal peak) and Anse La Vouette (ask Jerome for directions as it’s closer than you think), means easy affordable day trips to beaches, restaurants or the ruins on Pigeon Island. Or just enjoy the beauty and quiet of your own little paradise with magnificent views, cooling breezes and your own cooking and more unique and intimate accommodations with a “do it yourself” flare and we are glad we did!

Better then it sounds!

This is one of those few times that it sounds too good to be true, but it is true. The pictures are totally accurate. It is better then any resort room on the Island. You have the freedom to do anything you want without the resorts scaring you from going out. This is the true way to experience the Island. Karen and Jerome are better then any hotel concierge I have ever seen. They helped us get the most out of our trip. There is not one negative thing I can say about the place. We saved a lot of money cooking in with the local ingredients. Tip: Eat at the local road side places rather then the tourist restaurants. It is just as good and fraction of the price. Thank you for the best vacation my wife and I have ever had. We hated to go back to 100 degree weather in Texas. Only regret was not spending more time lying on the beach.

Amazing Stay!

My husband and I had an amazing stay in this apartment. We got married on the island and this apartment was the perfect home base for our stay in St. Lucia. Karen and Jerome were VERY helpful and hospitable. They left us a chilled bottle of wine on our wedding day! They have really paid attention to detail as far as the apartment is concerned and the place is really decked out with everything one might need. The cell phone was very helpful in making arrangements for our wedding. We had rented a car and that made it easy to get into Rodney Bay and other parts of the island. Taking taxis would be doable, but I am glad we had the car. Staying here made for a very unique experience on St. Lucia.

This villa was more than we could hope for. It truly looks exactly like the photos depict it. It's very clean and only a short walk to the local bus stop. You can rent a car or go by taxi, but we recommend taking the bus as the locals are very friendly, it's a new experience, and a fraction of the cost. Karen and Jerome were gracious and friendly, offering a cell phone for the use of our trip and access to useful information about activities in St. Lucia. We had plenty of privacy and the view is spectacular! This is definitely a better way to experience St. Lucia than going to an expensive resort. There is such a rich culture in St. Lucia, to miss it would be a shame. We definitely would stay here again. Thank you Karen and Jerome!

Excellent place with marvelous hosts! Very helpful, very accommodating! The apartment was exactly representative of the advertisement. Gorgeous view with plenty of space for my husband and I. Hosts were great with communication before and during our stay. They helped us find areas within walking or driving distance of the apartment. Cas en Bas beach was within walking distance and great for a lazy day on the beach or a rigorous hike through the trail on the coast. Pigeon Island was a short taxi ride with access to beaches and the National Park with a quaint restaurant (Jambe de Bois) for food and drinks. Both beaches excellent for seashell collecting for kids and gorgeous photo opportunities. Rodney Bay was a short walk for activities, local food, and great morning coffee/breakfast (Cafe Ole' and Bosun's). Buses very easy to hop on and travel to areas of interest. Car rental is also a possibility to travel to Soufriere, Marigot Bay, or Dennery. Very reasonable price for the area and accommodations. Could not have asked for a better place to stay in St. Lucia! Will refer to this owner for future stays. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience for our anniversary!

We came back! Since our last stay in October 2008 we returned for the first 2 weeks of December 2009. The deck and pool are great additions and a comfortable sun trap for chilling out in your own space, the island was as welcoming as ever with Karen and Jerome playing the perfect hosts, I cannot recommend this apartment enough, hire a jeep and see the real St Lucia.

What a beautiful apartment and view! My daughter first said she wanted to stay 5000 days then later changed her mind to moving there : ) The plunge pool was ideal for our return from the beaches. Karen and Jerome are exceptional hosts who were always available when needed. We explored St Lucia south to north and east to west. We do recommend 4X4 as we were unable to go places we wanted with the rental car we had. My only regret is not staying longer... we came home to a 70* difference in temperature : ( Thank you so much for the use of your property, we LOVED it!

Beautiful apartment, very clean. Wonderful view especially during sunrise. Karen and Jerome are exceptional hosts. My daugher and I arrived a day before we were able to get a rental car, so we used taxi and bus services. The only thing with that is if you have a young child(ren) who requires a car/boster seat this might not be an option for you. We got a car the second day and drove all over! What an experience that was with the wheel on the right and driving on the left, lol. I do recommend a 4x4 if renting a car as many roads are not paved. We made use of every minute we had in St Lucia. This apartment was the perfect place for us, thank you! We highly recommend this property : )

It is suitable for toddlers up to 2-3 years. As with most countries child / booster seats are not required on buses. In fact (unfortunately) there is no law in place currently for them to be used in any vehicles in St. Lucia. But we would always recommend that those guests travelling with children check with their car hire company if a seat can be provided and if not to bring it with them. All the main roads in St. Lucia are paved. However, if you go off the main roads you will encounter unpaved roads, so yes, we do recommend a 4 x 4 especially for guests who really want to explore the island!

We love to get away from the bitter NY cold weather in December. We were so excited to find Karen & Jerome's guest house ad. It looked too good to be true. But it actually exceeded our expectations! My brand new wife and I spent our first week together here in Cas En Bas. In one word it was absolutely amazing. It was so cool to come off the plane and have all the local driver's ask you what resort you were going to, and you could reply with "we aren't going to a resort" while most couples would pile into buses and head to very American resorts. With Karen and Jerome, we were able to explore the real St. Lucia on our own, at our own pace. Karen and Jerome were able to help us with absolutely anything we needed, but were extremely respectful and gave us all the privacy we could hope for. The room itself is a perfect headquarters to launch your St. Lucia adventure. The plunge pool is perfect for a quick cool down at any time of the day. The view from the porch includes the mountains and the ocean. The reasonable cost really enabled us to strike out and spend our money on the awesome adventures on the island. I have no doubt that if we ever visit St. Lucia again, we will be calling Jerome and Karen!

My daughter and I stayed at this location for 5 days in November of 2009. The stay was short, however it was filled with many acitivies. We were able to visit one or two sights per day, despite some of them were at quite remote distance from the apartment (Pigeon Island National Landmark, Pitons, Toptree Adventures Ziplines-to name a few). Karen and Jerome (the hosts) were extremely helpful with the necessary information; they had brochures, maps and various literature ready for us to refer to. A well-arranged bus system with clean vehicles and friendly drivers took us to town within minutes (the bus stop is approximately a ten-minute walk). A taxi is available at any time, and I would recommend Donald and Glenda for their punctuality and highly responsible working style. The apartment was immaculate, well-situated and private. The interior was thought through very well, practical and elegant-a TRUE pleasure to be in at any time of the day. The hosts were on top of things, always ready to help, to give advice, etc. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that they provided us with a local cell-phone for everyday-use and for emergency contact. This has been an especially helpful link between us (first-time travelers to St. Lucia) and the hosts or, as a matter of fact between any other contact we might have needed to reach IMMEDIATELY (of course, every guest is to "top it up", however, a couple of EC dollars can fill the account on the phone for plenty of time). We enjoyed both cooking in and eating out. As we were trying to explore more of the local cuisine around the area, both Karen and Jerome were a great source of information on this topic. Not only do I want to recommend this property to friends and relatives, I would personally be happy to come back as soon as I am able to. As Jerome took you to Pigeon Island by boat, you may have thought it was remote! But it is only 5 minutes drive if you go by road! Of course it is much more idyllic to arrive by water! I had the amazing opportunity to spend over 2 weeks in a little paradise in Cas en Bas , yes!! it was paradise, the little appartment, wich I describe more of a little romantic villa was located at the top of a mountain looking down at the ocean, the view was outstanding and enchanting. The villa was superb equiped with all you need , also very modern and especially spotless. I found the location very good as I enjoyed my walk down to catch the local bus everyday day.I was ver impress with the service I received from Jerome the owner of the place, he was very friendly and represented the real hospitality of this wonderful island. It was my first experience staying in a private place , I usually stay in all inclusive hotel. I highly recommend the little paradise in Cas en Bas not only for the beauty of the view , the great care from the owner nor the magical moments I had there but especially for the special hospitality from St Lucians, and the combination of feeling right at home so far away. We had a wonderful stay in this apartment June/July 2009. The apartment and outside area are beautifully presented and extremely comfortable. Like a home from home. The apartment had everything we could have needed including hairdryer, cooking equiptment etc ! We were visiting with our 4 month old baby and again everything we needed for him was provided including cot, bouncy chair etc. Karen and Jerome are wonderful people and will go out of their way to help you in any way needed during your stay. Excellent location close to beautiful cas-en-bas beach and a short drive from Rodney Bay. Also felt very safe as the apartment is linked to the house but still a very private location!! I had a great 3 week stay at this apartment and would definately recommend it for independant travellers. It is good value for money and a very good location to act as a base from which to explore the north of the island. I would recommend renting a 4x4 as the road to the apartment is uphill, and many of the areas worth exploring are only accessible this way. The apartment was very modern, clean, light and airy, and has lovely breezes. Karen and Jerome were great hosts, respecting the need for privacy, but always on hand if needed with advice or whatever was needed. The balcony and plunge pool area lovely addition and the apartment is very secure (being attached to the house) nso I would also recommend for a single traveller. Thanks for a great stay!

My Husband and I stayed at the apartment with our 11 year old daughter for 2 weeks March/April. We instantly felt at home, Karen and Jerome were absolutly some of the best people we have met, they were very helpful in every way, they definatly made our holiday stress free! The apartment was very well equiped and very clean. Our daughter slept on the convertable bed, and said she was very comfortable. The plunge pool was a very nice feature to have, in the hotest part of the day it is shaded and was perfect for our daughter to play in and cool down before going back out to explore the beautiful island again.( A rental 4x4 is a necessity in order to explore the island) We can not wait to go back again, and no question about it we will stay at this apartment. The location was great, beautiful sun rises and wonderful people. By far one of our best holidays!

What a great find! This is a rental that is impeccably clean, spacious, tastefully decorated, comfortable, cozy and well equipped. Excellent apartment which enables one to discover the real St Lucia and enjoy the Cap resorts at a fraction of the cost (it is only a short cycle ride from Le Sport and Cotton Bay where you can use all of the hotel facilities for a small fee, or nothing if you buy food/beer). With Virgin almost giving away flights it would be rude not to visit again, which I will be doing soon...

What a GREAT VIEW what a GREAT DEAL and what a GREAT FAMILY!! Karen and Jerome made us feel instantly welcome. We were greeted with open arms and wonderful smiles.Then we were escorted to this amazing apartment with a fabulous view of the Atlantic Ocean. Fresh flowers fruit and even a cold Piton were a refreshing treat after a day of travel.The apartment is very nice even better than the photos suggest.Karen & Jerome were so helpful giving information on local places to see and things to do. The appartment was a real pleasure - spotlessly clean and very comfortable and secure. Fabulous apartment better than the rest! - We stayed for 2 weeks in October 2008, the apartment is beautifully decorated and furnished to a standard far higher than you would expect from a rental property. Karen and Jerome made us most welcome and had lots of great hints and tips on places to see and things to do, you can walk into town but the walk back up the hill after a big lunch is not for the feint hearted! Hiring a car makes things very easy with several deserted beaches nearby and loads of great restaurants. The apartment has it's own private entrance so you can come and go at your own pace fitting in with the Islands relaxed atmosphere immediately. When we stayed the plunge pool and deck had not been built so this gives us another great reason to return! Highly recommended!!
