-- The Area --
Mitte is without doubt the single best place to stay in Berlin if you plan to explore the city.
To name just the most important places to visit within 15 minutes walking distance:
- Hackescher Markt (main tourist place in Mitte, boutique shopping etc.)
- Oranienburger Str (with the Jewish Synagoge, the Tacheles cultural center)
- Alexanderplatz with the famous TV tower
- Scheunenviertel (one of the oldest quarters in the city center, hundreds of art galleries)
- Kastanienallee (wonderful atmosphere, boutique shops, bars, restaurants)
- Museum Island (Complex listed on World Heritage Sites)
- Berlin Cathedral
- State Opera
- “Unter den Linden”
- Friedrichstraße (Shopping and Business)
- Brandenburg Gate (~30min walk)
- "Reichstag" - the parliament (~30min walk)
- B-Flat Jazz Club for great Jazz concerts
- Several Cinemas (also featuring English movies)
- Hundreds of Restaurants from all over the world from simple food to high class cuisine
Just within 30 minutes distance around the apartment you find enough exciting things to discover for several weeks – and that is just Berlin-Mitte (which literally means “center”).
It is surrounded by the three next most interesting districts Prenzlauer Berg, Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain, which are all waiting to be visited!
Last but not least: Unlike in many other big capitols people still live in Berlin’s city center.
You find supermarkets, grocery stores, local restaurants, farmers markets and whatever else you need. Even Europe’s biggest organic supermarket is nearby.
Living is still very affordable and fun in Berlin!
-- How to get Here --
It takes only 30-60 minutes to get here from either of Berlin's two airports and only 15 minutes from the central station. We are happy to help you with exact details once you know the exact place and time of your arrival.
The next subway station (U Rosenthaler Platz) is right across the street and there is about a dozen tram-, subway-, S-Train, and bus lines nearby.

Why the Owner Chose Berlin
We have been living in the same area for many years and for us it's really one of the best areas in Berlin to live in.
Mitte is just extremely convenient and central, there is a huge veriety of Cafes and Restaurants that we like very much. There are lots of shops, organic and antique markets - it's just perfect.
Also you find a nice little park just accross the street with a beautiful rose garden.
The are attracts a great international crowd with all sorts of people.
And last but not least - the apartment is right in the heart of all that - yet extremely (!) calm and quiet. A perfect home.

Lovely apartment, perfect size for two people. Very trendy area with lots of great restaurants. Quiet apartment in courtyard off busy street. Public transportation across the street. We had a car so had to park in a public lot about one mile away. Owners live across the hall and are very friendly, helpful, but not intrusive. Great experience, we highly recommend. Agree with previous review - could use reading lights near sofa and bed, but in Berlin, who wants to spend time reading?

We liked the convenience to public transportation, a short walk to buy groceries, adequate kitchen facilities, comfortable mattress. We padded the bed's foot board with a blanket so my tall husband's feet would be more comfortable and not hitting the foot board. We only received one bath towel each for 6 days. Terrific lighting during the day from huge windows, but very dim lighting at night. I had to hold a small lamp upside down and use it like a flashlight to read at night because there was no reading lamp in the apartment. Overall, we liked the apartment very much. It was clean and in good repair, convenient to the subway station, and a good value for the space. The owners were friendly, helpful, and close by. We are physically fit, so the flights of stairs to the apartment were not a big deal. We recommend this property.

We enjoyed our 5-night stay in June. The apartment is very clean, has high ceilings, and is attractively furnished. The bakery at the corner has excellent croissants and pain au chocolat, and there's an very good grocery store (Rewe) around the corner
