The flat was neat, clean and airy, with large windows. The one spacious room has a comfortable bed and a couch that can be converted to a bed though no other seating. The kitchen with a table and two chairs provided a pleasant breakfast spot. Since the flat is set in the back courtyard it was calm and quiet despite being near a busy street. It's near shopping, a self laundry, a variety of restaurants and metro. An all around great location for sightseeing in Berlin. The flat is up three flights of stairs.

My wife and I spent a week in this apartment in mid March, 2012. We thoroughly enjoy our stay and would look forward to staying there again. The apartment is very clean, freshly restored and painted, with beautifully finished pine floors. We particularly enjoyed the kitchen and ate in every night, even though there were plenty of restaurants around. The building is set back from the street and the apartment overlooks a quiet courtyard. We appreciated having the hospitable owners across the hall but never had to call upon them. We enjoyed walking to all the East Berlin attractions and also used the convenient Metro. Recommend it highly.

This property was a great pick for our long weekend in Berlin! It was clean, well-maintained, spacious, and in a good location. There are lots of eclectic restaurants and bars within a 5-15 minute walk. The owners were laid-back and very helpful, especially with our email correspondence prior to arrival. We would definitely return and plan on recommending the apartment to friends!

This apartment is simple and nothing fancy. It is spacious with high ceilings and lots of light in a quiet building up 5 flights of steps. (There is no elevator.) The best part is that the apartment is perfectly located in a neighborhood with nice cafes, galleries and shops and is a short walk from museums and other points of interest. When you want to take a cab, they are readily available. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely apartment, perfect size for two people. Very trendy area with lots of great restaurants. Quiet apartment in courtyard off busy street. Public transportation across the street. We had a car so had to park in a public lot about one mile away. Owners live across the hall and are very friendly, helpful, but not intrusive. Great experience, we highly recommend. Agree with previous review - could use reading lights near sofa and bed, but in Berlin, who wants to spend time reading?

We liked the convenience to public transportation, a short walk to buy groceries, adequate kitchen facilities, comfortable mattress. We padded the bed's foot board with a blanket so my tall husband's feet would be more comfortable and not hitting the foot board. We only received one bath towel each for 6 days. Terrific lighting during the day from huge windows, but very dim lighting at night. I had to hold a small lamp upside down and use it like a flashlight to read at night because there was no reading lamp in the apartment. Overall, we liked the apartment very much. It was clean and in good repair, convenient to the subway station, and a good value for the space. The owners were friendly, helpful, and close by. We are physically fit, so the flights of stairs to the apartment were not a big deal. We recommend this property.

My wife and I stayed with Manuela and Grischa this past May and we had a wonderful stay. The apartment has a typical Berlin "railroad" layout and has a big studio room with high ceilings and is very comfortable to relax in and sleep. It is very private and very quiet and is in a great location 2 U-Bahn stops from Alexanderplatz in Mitte. You're pretty much 20 minutes from everywhere you want to go and a short tram ride to Prenzlauer Berg's trendy hangouts. Highly recommended.

Manuela and Grischa are wonderful hosts, helpful, friendly, and, as an added benefit, they live across the hall. During our two week stay, we became friends and maintain contact to this day. The apartment is clean and bright, the kitchen is well equipped, and the apartment is located centrally, with easy access to Berlin Mitte. All in all, a wonderful home away from home!

We enjoyed our 5-night stay in June. The apartment is very clean, has high ceilings, and is attractively furnished. The bakery at the corner has excellent croissants and pain au chocolat, and there's an very good grocery store (Rewe) around the corner

Had a wonderful 5-day stay at Grischa and Manu's apt. Plenty of space and very clean and comfortable for the two of us. Thoroughly agree with all the positive comments from the other guests, just adding that Berlin-Mitte is the BEST locale to stay if you're visiting the city with numerous sights and eateries nearby. There is a doner kebab place right up the street which will keep you fueled for a whole day of walking. We hope to return to Berlin for another vacation and won't hesitate to book this flat again.

We stayed here in early April and found the apartment convenient and comfortable. An U-bahn stop was across the street from the building making it very convenient when visiting other parts of the city. There are many restaurants within walking distance. The owners live in the same building and on our second night they checked in to make certain our stay was going well and share some cake with us. I would definitely recommend this place to a couple or family with one young child. Having free internet was an added bonus.

We loved this apartment in the Mitte section of Berlin. It was steps away from great restaurants and the U-Bahn was right across the street. The interior has a cozy zen feel. With very high ceilings and beautiful wood floors, it is peaceful and immaculate. Grischa and Manu couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. And if you are interested in yoga Grischa teaches yoga in his studio right downstairs from the apartment. For me this was incredible. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend it to all those traveling to Berlin.
Owner response:Dear Abby and Doug, thanks for your nice message. We are sure you continued to have a great trip after your stay with us. Also greetings to your son! We hope you'll find it easy to re-enter "real life" :-) Best, Manu and Grischa

We recently stayed at this lovely apartment. It was perfect in every way, including the colorful bouquet of fresh flowers placed in the kitchen for our arrival. Its features are exactly as listed and shown on the internet. It should be mentioned that the apartment is on the fourth floor and there is no elevator... a problem only if you are elderly or handicapped. I am VERY picky about cleanliness and this apartment was super clean. The whole feel of being there was wonderful with the big open rooms full of air and light. It was great having a kitchen for breakfast and such a comfortable bed at night. The location was very quiet and yet just steps away from the U-bahn station for easy access to all areas of the city. You will love staying here and visiting Berlin!

This large apartment felt like home to us and the friendly owners gave us helpful advice and recommended great restaurants nearby. The apartment is right next to a beautiful park which we sat in and watched the sun set. We would love to stay in this spacious apartment again. Or simply move in. Its location and neighborhood are superb. The owners lovingly suggested cool places that we could visit. Berlin is great.

We stayed in this lovely, spacious, clean and quiet flat recently. The flat is perfectly positioned for walking to all of the major sites in central Berlin. As well, the u-bahn is just across the street, is one stop from Alexanderplatz and this provides easy links to any part of the city. Many good restaurants are close and the Schlemmerbuffet, arguably the best place to get doners in Berlin, is a 2 minute walk from the flat at the corner of Rosenthaler and Tor. Grischa and Manuela, the owners, were most gracious and helpful, answering all possible questions about Berlin. We really enjoyed our time in Berlin and will definitely book this flat again if we visit this beautiful city another time.

If I ever get the chance to visit Berlin again, I would rent this apartment. The location is great, you can easily walk around Berlin, or if you need to go a little farther the U-Bahn is right outside your door, and you are one stop away from Alexanderplatz. Located not far from the apartment are pletny of shops and resturants, giving the area a nice livley feel. The owners are extremely nice and helpful, making you feel welcome from the moment you meet. They also make sure that you have all the information you need to enjoy your stay in Berlin, making themselves easily reachable for any needs or questions you might have. The apartment itself is a great little place, perfect for anyone looking for something more than a hotel, a home away from home. I look forward to being able to rent from them again :)

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this apartment in Berlin. The owners were very friendly and extremely helpful, to the point that they even provided us with a timetable and directions from getting to the accommodation from the airport. Staying here was very central and accessible to all of the main attractions in Berlin. I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone wishing to visit Berlin.
