Charming, Comfortable, Canal View, in the Very Heart of Venice
- Minimum stay:N/A

The house: 16th century in the heart of Cannaregio, near Ca'D'oro and Santi Apostoli, between Strada Nuova and Fondamenta Nuove. Central Location: on foot 5 min. to the Rialto Bridge and 12min. to San Marco. Very quiet and safe!
Until Fall 2011 there have been CANAL WORKS next to our house which have COME TO FINAL COMPLETION! They have removed all the scaffolding and now you can enjoy the beautiful and peaceful view without any obstacle. ADSL and WIFI work very well and you will appreciate the flexible design lamps to read in bed, a new mattress and a new TV set with a large LCD screen with satellite decoder and plenty of international channels.
Each room is independent and you access them all through 5 doors in the entrance: the main bedroom has a kingsize bed and 3 windows, the living room has 2 sofas and 3 windows on canal, sit-in kitchen with window on canal, bathroom with window, air conditioning and central heating. You do not need to pass through any room to access the kitchen and the bathroom.
We rent our lovely, bright (total of nine windows), quiet, and comfortable flat for weekly stays all year round, usually from Saturday to Saturday to 2 people only.
You can experience Venice like a real Venetian and have a unique, charming approach to this wonderful city which is still very lively and human. The perfect central location just off the tourist track, the view from the many windows overlooking the Canal San Andrea (see photos from the different three living room windows), the wooden beam ceilings in the living room and in the kitchen, the charming main bedroom, the functional bathroom with cabin shower and washing machine, and the elegant furniture make it a special place. What used to be a second bedroom is only for private use when we are there.
In 2008 we added air conditioning to offer refreshment during hot summers. For those who don't like it we have very good fans and if you keep the shutters closed when you are away the apartment keeps cool anyway.
Local shopping is great. We suggest you take the gondola ferry 'Traghetto Santa Sofia' 2 min. for a few cents to the Rialto Fish and Vegetable Market where you can buy the best fresh food in town, also recomended a BILLA supermarket at San Felice, 3 min. away, open all day seven days a week and the best typical restaurants happen to be nearby.
The neighborhood is very lively, safe and central. In two minutes you can reach the nearest boat station Ca' D'Oro (nine min.boat ride to the train station and 12min. to Piazzale Roma-link to the mainland and airport) and just one minute from the flat you can find the best and most typical venetian 'cicchetti' at local Baccari and restaurants nearby. From the near Fondamenta Nuove you take the boats to the Airport, to the wonderful Islands of Torcello, Murano e Burano and to the famous Lido with the glamorous hotels and beaches(Visconti's Death in Venice, Film Festival, etc.).
Usually no pets. The flat is on the second floor (Europe first floor) therefore even if there is no lift you just have to walk up only 16 comfortable steps . Smoking is NOT allowed inside! Please take a walk if you cannot resist.
Note: We rent it WEEKLY in the frame Saturday to Saturday. It is our second home, we and our friends and family are also often there on holiday, and this helps keeping the apartment always in its best efficiency as we keep improving it and doing repairs during our several stays all year round. Rates during Carnival, Easter, New Year's Eve, Biennale and peak weeks are higher. Discounts are offered for longer stays (two weeks or longer) especially in the low season. Special last-minute offers may be available to fill open dates.
For those who fear ACQUA ALTA: do not worry, it is a tide, not a flood and as it comes it also goes away. We monitor the tides and keep you informed when it is higher than usual. We provide brand new rubber boots so that you can explore and have fun and experience something unique. It is not a danger for tourists. It is hard and sad for the people and shops on the ground floor.
The city of Venice is doing major works in all canals to improve the ecology and the solidity.
We kindly ask our guests when back home to write a comment in the vrbo guest book. Most tell us on the phone or by email how charming and comfortable it is but we would like also other potential guests to read it. Thank you!

The apartment is in the quaint Ca' d'Oro neighborhood a short 3 block (and one bridge) from the Vaparetto stop. If you are there a week purchase the one week Vaparetto plus the D'Arte (artsy tour boat) - 50E pass as you can get on and off any of the public transportation plus the D'Arte boat any time you want plus the D'Arte is never crowded. It was nice on our last day to take it to the train station with no worries about the crowd and our luggage. You can also learn about all the historical sites on the D'Arte from the tour (head phones are provided) or just cruise around Venice and see the sights. The apartment was not huge but a great home away from home for my husband and myself. There are 14 steps up to it so be prepared for that. The bath was a little small but adequate for our size. It was great having a washing machine but it did take 2-3 days for everything to dry. It was fun hanging ours out on the line just like all our neighbors. Murano was a great day trip as well as visiting the fish and vegetable market at the Rialto bridge in the mornings. It was easy to get lost in Venice but we always seemed to find our way back to a bridge and a Vaparetto stop. Everyone was very helpful and was a very safe place even walking back late at night. We did a wine pairings tour with Context Tours with Mario who Paninin took us to 3 different bars-cafes for wine and antipasta which we really enjoyed as they were in our neighborhood. We waited till the last night to do our gondola ride and chose Francisco who owns the "Silvia". He is in Ca' d'Oro at the bridge down near the Billa grocery store. We liked him because we did not want to be out in the Grand Canale. Elisa, the apartment owner was very helpful and emailed back with any questions. The apartment was very clean and overall suited our needs. I would love to go back to Venice again, a most extraordinary city. We loved it!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

My daughter & I spent four nights here over Christmas. It was a rather difficult trip for us as I broke both my ankle and our phone on our first night in Italy. Traveling by wheelchair without communication made our arrival difficult, but Elise was very kind to us. Because we arrived past our stated time and we missed our appointment I had many sometimes not-too-bright questions and poor Elise answered them all via the telephone in the apartment. Loved the location! So quiet and charming. Many good eateries around the neighborhood as well as the fun Strada Nuova shopping street and a near by grocery store. The vaparetto stop was just a few minutes away. The apartment was very cozy for our Christmas celebration and we enjoyed it very much. The stairs were not difficult at all, especially considering my ankle. Neighbors were very friendly as well.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for your nice words. My admiration is for you and your daughter who enjoyed the stay in Venice in spite of the broken ankle and all the consequences! We hope to have you back in your best shape!

This was my husband and my first trip to Venice so not knowing anything about where to stay, I must say I did a great job at picking this apartment. It was off the busy street and back into a neighborhood that was quiet, quaint and gave us the true feeling of living in Venice. The apartment had everything we could want. Internet worked great. Washing machine worked great so we could leave on our cruise with clean clothes. The description of this apartment was totally on point and the photos were exactly as the place looked. The apartment was very clean and well kept. While there we went over to Lido, plus to Murano and Burano. Loved it all.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

It is a nice, tidy, well maintained, comfortable apartment. It is a real home, not a kind of apartment meant exclusively for renting out. It had all necessary supplies (including even olive oil). Also the washer was very helpful. The apartment is within a 5 min. walk from Ca d'Oro vaporetti station and in a 10 min. walk from Fondamente Nuove station, so one can easily get to San Marco, to the islands, and to the Marco Polo airport by an Alilaguna ship (though a bus from Piazzale Roma is both faster and cheaper). The apartment is located near lively and merry Strada Nova, and it is in the last house on a narrow street that rests in a minor canale, so nothing interrupts your sleep. A supermarket is just around the corner, and one can find all kinds of restaurants on Strada Nova. We were lucky to meet the owners, Elisa and Hans. They were very nice and helpful, and the book of instructions took care of everything that we had forgotten to ask them about. A special note for those loving jewish food: a very nice kosher restaurant is at Guglio (do not confuse with Giglio) vaporetti station on Cannaregio Canale in a 15 min. walk from the apartment (if you want a table on the canale, make reservation).Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+.
Owner response: Thanks for your appreciation, we were worried about the exceptional heat wave but we are happy you had a pleasant stay!

This was the first wonderful week of what was our best vacation ever. The apartment was perfectly described in all of the VRBO information, the owner was perfect to work with, and the location of the apartment was the best. In a nice residential area, but very close to the main walking arteries in the city. And walk we did! Everywhere. Easy walk to the Ca D'Oro vaporetto stop. Easy walk to Piazza San Marco. Easy walk to the train station. Food shopping was a breeze at the local supermarket. Restaurants are everywhere and the food was uniformly wonderful. Everyone couldn't have been nicer throughout our entire stay in Venice. The apartment was perfect to come home to every evening and rest on the comfortable sofas, read a book from the large collection in the apartment, and sit and listen to the occasional boat go by on the canal right beside the apartment, and music floating across the canal from the Music Conservatory. And we hung our clothes out to dry on the clothesline like the rest of Venice. I haven't had fresh air stiffened clothes for something like 30 years! Don't know if the large flat-screen TV worked because we never turned it on; there was too much else to do. I'm only giving this apartment a five-star rating because ten stars wasn't available. The best vacation ever!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.
Owner response: Sharing your enthusiasm with all our potential guests is the most gratifying reward for us and we truly thank you. We hope to have you or your friends as guests soon again and get to know you if and when you'll visit the surroundings of Rome.

The apartment was clean, convenient to restaurants and a great supermarket, and was close to a vaporetto stop. The owner was very helpful in communications before and during our stay, including when the electricity went off during our first night. We delayed our call to the owner, as we didn't want to disturb her during the night. When we called her the first thing in the morning she was very responsive, arranging for someone to immediately come to the apartment to correct the problem. This was our only rental of the three we had in Italy that had English-speaking chennels on the TV. The apartment was as described online and very well equipped. Being in this neighborhood was a pleasnt experience.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing.

My daughter and I so enjoyed our five nights at Elisa's apartment. It is on the corner of a quiet alley and a canal. When you look our the second story windows of the apartment, you can see tiny bridges crossing your canal. It is so quiet and peaceful that you would never dream that a mere two blocks from the Strada Nova! Elisa recommended a lovely little osteria called Osteria Della Vedova, where we went for chicetti and for dinner one night. It is right down the street: charming, friendly, authentic, and a good value. Because we had our own kitchen, we could buy groceries at the supermercato on Strada Nova and in the Rialto mercado. We loved out days and nights in Venice. Elisa's apartment is a quiet refuge from tourist hordes. On the other hand, it is easy to get to from the airport via Fondamente Nova as well as via train, being near to the Ca 'd Oro vaporetta stop. It's also a short walk to the Rialto Bridge. With wifi, a washer, clothesline, and pins, we had everything we needed. In short, perfect central location, great service, tips, and directions from the owner, and memories that will last a lifetime. Grazie mille.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing.
Owner response: I am so grateful for your words, they are most welcomed and can truly inform potential guests better than my description. Thank you!

We stayed in this adorable apartment for one week. Everything on the website was accurately depicted, although the second bedroom was a little tiny for my 6ft 4in son. The location was absolutely perfect it really gave you a great sense of daily life in venice and it was still close enough to walk to the main tourist areas and was a very short walk to catch the vaporetta to Murano and Burano. The local restaurants were truly high class, we did not have one bad meal. The apartment was very clean and Elisa was wonderfully responsive to all my enquires. I would highly recomend the apartment to any discerning traveller and would definitely stay again on our next vist to venice.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

My husband and I and our granddaughter enjoyed our Venice visit and your apartment. If we come back, we will definitely contact you to stay again. Here are the things we really appreciated: QUIET! We came from Rome where we never had a good night of sleep because of both people and vehicle traffic all night long. We love the quiet location of your place. Bedding was very comfortable. Washer worked and I could figure out how to operate it without looking on line for a user's manual in English. Although with this short stay we did not do any meaningful cooking, we could appreciate the completeness of kitchen items. Given the close location of the mercato and the wonderful produce and fish we saw there, I'd love to make some meals in your home. Central location. Value for the priceRecommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+.
