Location: Venice, Veneto, Italy, Europe (In the very Heart of Venice, 12 min. on foot to St. Mark) View Map

Accommodations:  Flat, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 1 Bath (Sleeps 4)

The house: 16th century in the heart of Cannaregio between Strada Nuova and Fondamenta Nuove. On foot five min. from the Rialto Bridge and 12min. from San Marco.

The flat: recently remodelled.

Each room is independent and you access them all through 5 doors in the entrance: two bedrooms (one with kingsize bed and 3 windows, and one with queensize bed and one window), living room with 2 sofas and 3 windows on canal , sit-in kitchen with window on canal, bathroom with window, air conditioning and central heating. You do not need to pass through the sleeping rooms and the living room to access the kitchen and the bathroom.
We rent our lovely, bright (total of nine windows), quiet, and comfortable flat for one week stays all year round usually from Saturday to Saturday. Ideal for two to three people, can comfortably sleep 4, exceptionally 5.
You can experience Venice like a real Venetian and have a unique, charming approach to this wonderful city which is still very lively and human. The perfect central location just off the tourist track, the view from the many windows overlooking the Canal San Andrea (see photo from one of the three living room windows), the wooden beam ceilings in the living room and in the kitchen, the charming main bedroom, the cozy second bedroom, the functional bathroom with shower and washing machine, and the elegant furniture make it a special place.
We have just added air conditioning for cooler summers. For those who don't like it we have very good fans.

Local shopping is great. We suggest you take the gondola ferry "Traghetto Santa Sofia" 2 min. for a few cents to the Rialto Fish and Vegetable Market where you can buy the best fresh food in town, a BILLA supermarket at San Felice, 3 min., is open all day seven days a week and the best typical restaurants happen to be nearby.
The neighborhood is very lively and central. In two minutes you can reach the nearest boat station Ca' D'Oro (nine min.boat ride to the train station and 12min. to Piazzale Roma-link to the mainland and airport) and just one minute from the flat you can find one of the best and most typical venetian "cicchetti" restaurant, the Baccaro Ca'D'Oro-Alla Vedova. From the near Fondamenta Nuove you take the boats to the Airport, to the wonderful Islands of Torcello, Murano e Burano and to the famous Lido with the glamorous hotels and beaches(Visconti's Death in Venice, Film Festival, etc.).
Usually no pets. The flat is on the second floor (Europe first floor) therefore even if there is no lift you just have to walk up only a comfortable flight of stairs. Smoking is NOT allowed inside, exceptionally only in the kitchen with open window and closed door!

Note: We usually rent it weekly from Saturday to Saturday. Shorter rentals only last minute or to fill holes of longer rentals. Recommended for two people, with the second bedroom sleeps up to four. Rates during Carnival, Easter, New Year's Eve, Biennale and peak weeks are higher. Discounts are offered for longer stays (two weeks or longer) especially in the low season. Special last-minute offers may be available to fill open dates. If you like the description of our flat, do get in touch with us in any case. Sometimes we can find creative solutions to dates and prices!

We kindly ask our guests when back home to write a comment in the vrbo-rentors-org guest book. Most tell us on the phone or by email how charming and comfortable it is but we would like also other potential guests to read it. Thank you!

    • Stayed here for the Biennale in 2009 and had five fantastic days in venice. It's a great flat to stay in, would highly recommend. Owner made whole process very easy and simple and flat was just what I was looking for.

    • There are many positive comments about this apartment, and they are all true. We would definitely recommend this to anyone and would stay here on any return visit if possible. If you come from the train station, and dont have much luggage, you can easily walk as there is a main street (strada nuova I think) that runs straight from there to very near the flat (the vaporettos add up, especially if there are a few of you). We were able to cook very well in the flat, even managing boiling beautiful crabs bought at the Rialto fish markets. There are also very good cheese and meat shops near the markets - dont forget you can get there quickly on the traghetto. The children loved watching the view on the canal from the flat, and we were extremely comfortable, there was everything you needed (except no Italian places have toasters!) and it was very quiet. Exactly what you expect of Venice. thanks!!

      Homeowner Response:
There is and there always has been a toaster, just that week it had broken and we were getting another one! sorry for the temporary inconvenience!

    • We, two couples, stayed at this charming apartment after New Years for 4 nights. It is big enough and has all the features necessary. From kitchen supplies to bathroom items to CD Player. It is located, tucked away from the tourist places but central enough to get there in no time. It made us feel like locals. Restaurants, grocery store, waterbus station is all within 5 minutes walking distance. It was the perfect place to come home to, after some major sightseeing, to warm up and cook a nice meal, before going back out to explore Venice by night. I highly recommend this place, as it added to our incredible adventure in Venice.

    • We stayed in the apartment over the New Year. It is a great time to experience Venice, but cold, so it was great to have a warm apartment, conveniently located, to come back to to warm up after cold churches and museums. We went to the New Year celebrations in Piazza San Marco, enjoyed the holiday decorations and local kids setting off fireworks from the wellheads in every campo. As we waited for midnight it began to snow, and we got to see Venice with snow on the bridges and rooftops, even the occasional snowman. The descriptions in the listing and the other guest book comments certainly correspond to our experience. There are great places to eat nearby, and other visitors have left cards with recommendations to help you plan. It is nice to get away from the crush of tourists that surround the popular hotels near San Marco and the Rialto, but it is close enough that you can be anywhere you want in minutes. The pictures by H-H in the living room and small bedroom are great!

    • My friend and I stayed at Elisa's wonderful Venice apartment for 6 nights following our Ironman triathlon in Klagenfurt Austria. It was extremely relaxing and quiet and delivers everything as promised on the website. Transactions for rental were stress free and the information in the apartment and that Elisa sends to you is extremely helpful. Very easy to get to from the train station and when she says it is a 2-3 minute walk, it really is! The music from across the canal was such a charming addition. the apartment is an extremely easy, short walk to loads of shopping, bakeries, water taxi, etc. There are internet cafes within a 5 minute walk. The kitchen has everything you need and it was wonderful to be able to wash clothes after many days of travel. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone.

    • We (two Canadian women) spent two wonderful weeks in April, 2008, exploring Venice from this charming apartment. It is perfectly situated: off the beaten track, yet very close to wonderful neighbourhood shops, a large supermarket, restaurants and to the Rialto market. It's also close to Alilaguna and vaporetto stops. The apartment itself is clean, well equipped and very comfortable, located in a quiet, well-kept building. Elisa was extremely helpful both before and during our stay, providing directions, maps, and recommendations that made it easy for us to find the apartment, navigate the neighbourhood, and enjoy some wonderful meals a short walk away from our home base. She responded promptly to email questions before we arrived and to phone calls during our stay. The concerts that drifted through our open windows from the palazzo across the canal on each of the weekends we were there were a delightful bonus feature! L and P

    • Our family spent 4 nights at Elisa's apartment just before Christmas 2007. It was our first trip to Venice and we were charmed by the city, the people and the wonderful accommodation. The apartment was absolutely delightful, spotlessly clean and just as it appeared in the photos. The kitchen was very cosy and well equipped and the bathroom smartly renovated. We found it useful to make up a bed in the lounge for one daughter, and the other slept in the small second bedroom. We all found it very comfortable and loved the shutters which made the rooms nice and dark. The location was superb, just 5 minutes walk to the friendly local supermarket and markets on the Strada Nova main street and also to the boat stop for easy travel to the other sights in Venice. We felt like we were experiencing Venice first-hand, living in the quiet residential street, next to the canal. Thank you for all the information about Venice, Elisa, and for the homely accommodation you offer. We hope to visit again. Kind Regards Francisca and Anthony

It had EVERYTHING we needed. The owners have been very nice and helpful (she even bought things we needed). The apartment is centrally situated, cosy, comfortable and very clean. It's easy to keep it tidy and warm. Every room has at least one window, what makes it bright and easy to ventilate. The kitchen has everything one could need. It's allowed to use the phone of the apartment, which is very convenient to make reservations at the Venetian restaurants and to use prepaid cards to phone abroad. For us (carrying a pram) was also very convenient to have only one bridge to cross for reaching Strada Nuova (commercial street with anything one may need -even a big supermarket that opens 7 days a week-) and the cà d'oro vaporetto stop, only 3 bridges to the Fondamenta Nuove stop (that takes you to the islands and the airport) and only a few steps to get to the apartment. It has been our sixth time in Venice and the first in an apartment. We hope there'd be a seventh time and we'll try to stay in the same apartment.

      Homeowner Response:
Muchas Gracias, Thank you! and hope to have you visiting Venice again as well as discovering our other country location near Rome... addenda September 2009: the guests have already come back for longer stays 3 times! Thans for your loyalty!

    • We loved this apartment and we highly recommend it to anyone considering it. The many positive comments say so much about it, so I will try to add something new. The kitchen is very well equipped, and we appreciated being able to use the phone. The supermarket is terrific.
