We stayed in this adorable apartment for one week. Everything on the website was accurately depicted, although the second bedroom was a little tiny for my 6ft 4in son. The location was absolutely perfect it really gave you a great sense of daily life in venice and it was still close enough to walk to the main tourist areas and was a very short walk to catch the vaporetta to Murano and Burano. The local restaurants were truly high class, we did not have one bad meal. The apartment was very clean and Elisa was wonderfully responsive to all my enquires. I would highly recomend the apartment to any discerning traveller and would definitely stay again on our next vist to venice.

My husband and I and our granddaughter enjoyed our Venice visit and your apartment. If we come back, we will definitely contact you to stay again. Here are the things we really appreciated: QUIET! We came from Rome where we never had a good night of sleep because of both people and vehicle traffic all night long. We love the quiet location of your place. Bedding was very comfortable. Washer worked and I could figure out how to operate it without looking on line for a user's manual in English. Although with this short stay we did not do any meaningful cooking, we could appreciate the completeness of kitchen items. Given the close location of the mercato and the wonderful produce and fish we saw there, I'd love to make some meals in your home. Central location. Value for the price

We had such a lovely trip to Venice at the end of February. The apartment was just as described - clean, comfortable, well outfitted with everything we needed, and was perfect for our needs (there were three of us). Elisa was so helpful and easy to deal with and very much on top of her email! The apartment is located very close to the Ca D'Oro vaparetto stop, so it was very convenient to get to from the bus station, and it was in a lovely neighborhood. There were restaurants, a grocery store and all kinds of shops nearby, so it was a fantastic location. I would recommend this apartment without reservation. We loved the kitchen and had a few meals at home, as well as several lovely meals out. If I return to Venice I would definitely stay here again. Thank you Elisa!

This apartment is located in an ideal location, walkable to everything, but also 3-4 minutes to the vaporetto on the Grand Canal or the 50 cent traghetto across to the Rialto market. Elisa had been staying there prior to our arrival so kindly met us at the vaporetto stop; this was very helpful for finding the apt the first time (and once there, it was very easy!). We used this as a 2-bedroom unit and the only complaint would be th elocaiton of the tv set. While I didn't travel to Venice for television, I do like to check the daily news/headlines. THis was only a bit inconvenient as the set was located in the bedroom I was not using (and it wasn't always convenient to disturb the other person in the apt). The unit is fully equipped with kitchen appliances (microwave, small stove, coffee maker, toaster) and dishes/utensils. There is also a grocery (Billa) located about 4-5 minutes' walk away, in addition to the numerous pastry shops, salumerie, produce markets etc in the neighborhood.

We have enjoyed staying in your apartment while seeing Venice. Your location is excellent!!! Your directions & your diagram from Ca' d'Oro are most helpful in finding the apartment! Thank you also for your comments about Fondamonta Nuove. We took your directions from Ca' d'Oro to Lido to F.Nuove to Murano the first day, then while still on our 24 hour ACTV pass we went from F.Nuove to Burano the next morning. We have walked lots every day - s.Mark square, Rialta area, P.Roma, gheto... With grocery stores so close-by, it was easy to shop daily & prepare our own meals in the apartment. I have really enjoyed the warm duvet on the bed!!! I read a novel off your book shelf & referred to map on the hall table. Thanks for our stay... If I'm ever in Venice again, I would definitely choose this apartment if it is available...

We stayed for one week in May 2011 in this well-located apartment. It overlooks a canal. However, there is repair work going on in the canal now so you are not going to see boats traveling on it for a while. But that is of little significance as this location is a couple of blocks walk from the Ca' D' Oro vaporetto stop and even closer to the Strada Nuova with its numerous shops and restaurants. The apartment is very well equiped, especially in the kitchen - which is sizeable and seems to have been recently remodeled so the cooking facilities are excellent. The beds are very comfortable and the air conditioning works just fine. The "neighborhood" is most charming as the apartment is on a side street (really a walk-way) that seems so representative of Venice. The buildings are all crowded together. However, the area is the quietest we've experienced in Italy. Partly this is because there are no motor vehicles allowed in Venice; partly it seems to be that Venetians go to bed fairly early. It's a restful setting. Around the apartment building, there is a lack of the crowds that so often characterize the Venetian experience. That's very pleasant. A music academy is located across the canal from the apartment. At times in the late afternoon, the sounds of fine music come from it. We even attended a concert at this academy.

We spent three relaxed days here and found that anything we wanted to do in Venice was within easy walking distance. The apartment is in a VERY quiet residential neighborhood. We prepared several meals in the well-stocked kitchen with foods purchased at the nearby Billa grocery store. Also, the living room provided a comfy place to rest our weary feet and read while occasionally being serenaded by soft piano music drifting across the canal from Palazzo Albrizzi (which we could only hear when we opened the windows). Having a washing machine was a plus, and hanging clothes out to dry made us feel like true Venetians! Elisa was very helpful when we chatted on the phone and her directions to the apartment were easy to follow. We highly recommend this apartment and look forward to returning some day!

A friend and I had planned a last minute "girls weekend" (mid week, of course), and began to hunt furiously for an apartment. We were *so* lucky to find this wonderful gem of a property. It is very centrally located, minutes to the vaporetto, and insanely comfortable. The Kitchen is better stocked than mine at home! The apartment was clean, charming, quiet, and exactly as described. There is a full gamut of guide books in various languages, along with various books for reading as well. Both beds are wonderfully comfortable, and the internet is flawless (hurrah!). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this flat to anyone, and will most certainly be in touch the next time I find myself in Venice!

What a pleasure to spend this past Christmas holiday in the warm and cozy flat in Venice. My family – my husband, son, daughter, and myself – stayed a week in all. We were very comfortable in the apartment. The layout of the rooms was great, and everything was thoughtfully arranged down to the smallest detail. The bathroom, though small, was perfectly adequate and quite clean as was the whole place. The kitchen was my favorite hangout – easy to cook in, and great for congregating around the table late into the evening, drinking wine and telling stories. Certainly the best thing about the place is its location: very near to a large market for basics and essentials, but also an easy stroll to the liveliest and most vibrant part of the city. Materials left in the apartment were informative, and Elisa was very kind to call and warn us about any imminent high water – acqua alta – so that we never ran into trouble. Even on Christmas Eve, Elisa took the time to let us know that Mass at the Basilica was at 9:00 in the evening rather than at midnight because of the high water. Thank goodness, or my daughter and I would have had a wet and disappointing time in the middle of the night! Also, I am endlessly grateful to Elisa for the warm welcome we received, allowing us to enter the apartment sooner in the day than we had planned. Our train through the night arrived very early, and we had a cold, rainy, and somewhat confusing time orienting ourselves in Venice as newcomers. Fortunately, the apartment was vacant the night prior to our arrival, and Signora Tres (who opened the door for us) and Signora Carmela (who tidied the place up on short notice) – made us quite comfortable in a hurry. They spoke not a word of English nor us a word of Italian, but they were able to recognize cold, wet, and tired when they saw it, and graciously came to our aid. I really did love our stay. I even got to hang clothes out to dry along the clothesline outside our window. I don’t know why I liked that part so well, but it was really fun to string our garments out there, adding to the color and charm of the neighborhood, looking up on our way home at the end of a day of adventure and exploration, seeing them flapping in the breeze. Truly, the apartment helped us to feel a sense of belonging in Venice as soon as we arrived. Many thanks to our wise and thoughtful landlady for providing such a lovely space.

My husband and I invited our niece, a design student in London, to spend four days with us in Venice shortly before Christmas 2010 and we thank our lucky stars that we discovered Elisa's place at the last minute and that we were able to adjust our plans according to the few days it was still available. Communicating with Elisa on e-mail was effortless and it was also a pleasure to talk to her on the phone and discover her and her husband's active engagement in the arts (always a bonus!). Usually one is prepared to be disappointed about one thing or another when booking an untried place online but in this case it seems Elisa had thought of everything in terms of amenities and arrangements. We only have good memories and would definitely go back to this welcoming place and its neighborhood given another opportunity. --------------------------

This was our second stay in the apartment - the first was five years ago. I did not even consider staying anywhere else! Just like the first time we found the apartment very comfortable, almost like coming home. The apartment is quite and we slept well each night. It is clean and well maintained. The bed is very comfortable. Though we did not cook we used the refrigerator; the kitchen looked well equipped. Check in is easy. It is in a great location. There is quick access from the Ca'D'Oro water bus stop - only one small bridge to cross - this is important if you have a lot of luggage. There are several excellent places to eat within 5 minutes. A grocery store is close by as is the Rialto Market where the freshest fruit and fish may be purchased. It is a quick walk to the Rialto Bridge and not much further to San Marco. The area around the apartment is a real neighborhood - we always felt safe walking here (and everywhere else for that matter) even late at night. Elisa, the apartment's owner, is very helpful and quick to respond to emails. She keeps in good communication. The pictures on this site accurately depict the apartment. The next time we return to Venice we will plan to stay here again!

My son and I has a wonderful week in Venice during September. Perfect weather and the apartment was very comfortable, spotless and beautifully equipped, even with a hairdryer. The location couldn't be better, close to the Ca d'oro vaporetta on the Grand Canal and, also, Fondamento Nuove for the ferry to the islands and from the airport and back. On the weekend we arrived we were thrilled to listen to a beautiful piano concerto from Pallazzo Albrizzi across the canal. Our only objection during our week and, one the landlords really had no control over, was the very noisy construction going on in the canal outside in preparation for dredging and cleaning. Scaffolding under our windows obliterated our view of the water, so that was very disappointing. Even so, we highly recommend the apartment as a wonderful "home away from home" in Venice. Just make sure the canal work is finished.
Owner response:We are grateful to Sharon and Todd for the appreciation of our apartment and of its location and for pointing out that we have no control over the works that the city of Venice does to improve the safety of its canals. It will soon be over and for the next maybe hundred years! Luckily the scaffolding are under the level of the windows, so the view is still quite free. The concerts at Palazzo Albrizzi are often an unexpected bonus!

This was the perfect place to stay in Venice for a family of 6! This wonderfully comfortable apartment was really home for 4 (too short!) days in August 2010. The location was perfect - quiet, on a canal, away from the crowds and yet only minutes away from everything. All the beds were very comfortable, the rooms are light, the view over the canal is stunning. The whole apartment is well equipped and even with so many of us we had plenty of room for sleeping and eating. I was also very happy with the kitchen, as I love to cook and I found all the necessary pots, pans and utensils to make and serve great meals. The small supermarket around the corner has everything needed to keep a whole family happy! Elisa is lovely and very helpful. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet personally as our time was short driving through Italy, but I hope we do someday. She had great suggestions for the local area - specially walking around the Misericordia area, very close by and beautiful at night. The boat stop is only minutes away and the main railway station 15 mins (without luggage!). I would positively recommend this property to all people of all ages - my only concern in doing that is that it may not be available next time I want it! We will definitely be back. Thank you Elisa! With happy memories, The Rado family from Budapest.

We stayed in Elisa’s Venice apartment in mid-July 2010, at the end of a three week trip to Italy. The apartment is as described and everything was working well. The air conditioning was particularly appreciated because of the incredible heat. The grocery store, pharmacy and Gelataria are all within two or three minutes, which was very handy, as is the boat stops to go wherever you need to go. The neighbourhood is very well lit at night, which made finding our way home safely very easy. Everything in Venice is a reminder of its history and that made our visit a true escape from our regular environment in Canada. Elisa was very attentive to our needs and made some very pertinent recommendations before and during our stay. We recommend this apartment and location to anyone who is looking for a Venetian experience, as we were!
Owner response:We are happy you enjoyed your week of Venice in our Venetian place after one week of our countryside house near Rome and one week of Tuscany. You are real travelers open to enjoy what the world can offer and your suggestions were very useful. Thank you.

This apartment may be adequate for a short-term stay for a budget-oriented traveller. It has enough room for 3 to 5 (max) people. It is air conditioned, which is a plus. A minus - the area around it is a rundown neighborhood, by Venetian standards. You will be safer not to walk around here at night. The apartment neighbors are noisy; the sound of them hammering something 8 in the morning penetrates right through the walls. The television is not working, and there are no instructions on how to operate it. The shower is extremely hot for 20 seconds, then turns completely cold when you try to operate the mixer. I suspect the water heater is malfunctioning. Communication with the owner is difficult: she gets upset when you phone her with concrete questions. We, a family of three, have been staying for 10 days, and asked the owner if we could wash the towels that the apartment provides. This request was denied, and we got a most unpleasant lecture as to how to behave to meet the owner's expectations. When I called to ask about how to operate the satellite receiver (no instructions provided), I was accused of making excessive demands and once again lectured in most unpleasant way. Henceforth, I was looking to spend as little time in this apartment as possible. While there is sleeping space, and kitchen utensils are provided, a combination of unpleasant neighborhood, a self-shutting shower, an unfriendly owner and noisy neighbours make me believe I will not be staying here any more, nor do I recommend this place to anyone but absolutely budget-minded traveller.
Owner response:No comment to this comment! It is written after 2 days of staying (and not at the end) in very bad faith as half an hour later we provided everything he asked for and everything was functioning! I simply ask the travelers and the future potential guests to read the many comments which say just the opposite and that we received over 8 years of continuous renting to vrbo travelers. We also have dozens of emails thanking us for the friendly welcome, the beautiful apartment, the easy communication and the perfect location. We have dozens of guests who keep coming back to us for years, but the system does not allow them to add a comment, otherwise they would all write that they come back, happily. Nobody ever had a problem in this area and nobody ever complained! It is extremely safe, central and close to everything, and so quiet! That's why many come back for longer stays , several weeks but some also for months. Our place is tasty, elegant, functional, comfortable and beautiful. No lies. All photos are real and we keep investing in improving the amenities and the extras. Any question or problem the guests call me and we organise the solution in no time and the loyal cleaning lady provides the desired items within a few hours (sometimes minutes)! Please read the infos and the detailed list of amenities and services and you will see that all is there. According to the previous guests and to the cleaning lady everyything works and it is very functional! We are happy to receive both experienced travelers or new travelers with an open mind to foreign places with a character and who do appreciate style, taste, comfort and kindness. And you cannot expect comfortable places and beautiful surroundings if people do not remodel their houses! The happiest guests are those who stay several weeks, those who stay only one week are sad to leave! I am sorry for this disappointment, but maybe all is just a misunderstanding due to his bad mood and a little lack of patience (maybe on both sides).

We stayed in this terrific apartment in June 2010. Location is wonderful, a short walk from the Grand Canal Ca d'oro stop, over a little bridge and you are there. It's lovely to walk around the neighbourhood which is quiet - away from the tourist mayhem - and yet at the same time so close to everywhere. And everything day to day that you need is in the neighbourhood: coffee, bars and restaurants (don't miss the brilliant cichetti bar just around the corner, and there is even an Irish pub if you like that kind of thing - we watched World Cup matches there), supermarkets, etc. You are so close to everything, just hop on the vaporetto to go wherever you want or an easy walk to many places if you prefer. The apartment itself is charming, very comfortable and quiet. Has all the things you need including air con and washing machine (we became very good at using the italian washng line technique hanging your washing out the window!). You are on your own little canal, lovely views from the windows on all sides. yes, as someone said, the shower stall is small, but I found this to be quite common in Italy and hey you are in Venice, what a small price to pay!! Venice was probably my favourite place on our Italy trip and the apartment was a lovely home away from home. Highly recommended.

Our family (2 adults and 2 teenagers) stayed in this charming apartment while in Venice and it was perfect for us -- off the beaten path in a quiet, safe neighborhood. Our host was very helpful and directions to the apartment made it easy to find. It was only a short walk to bakeries, groceries and sightseeing. There was a delicious restaurant close by -- we would highly recommend it. It was a fun location to explore. The apartment had everything we needed to be comfortable -- well stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, internet, comfortable sleeping arrangements, and beautiful music coming from the concert hall across the small canal outside the window. We loved staying here and would definitely stay again.
Owner response:Thank you Jeff and family for this comment which puts in the right perspective the reality of our place and our location! We are always open to guests suggestions and tips how to improve the facilities. Thank you to all the enthusiastic travelers, first timers as well as experienced and professionals who have stayed in our place, have come back or sent friends and spread the word about it. We are looking forward to welcoming you again! One detail: the washing machine (as specified in the list) has a spinner, not a dryer!

My husband and I stayed in this great apartment for a month in May, 2010, and we loved it and felt sad when we left. It's comfortable and charming, with an excellent bed, reading lamps, and a good desk. I spent a lot of time writing at the desk in the attractive quiet living room. It's a corner apartment, so there are good views in two directions out over a canal, and you don't feel claustrophobic. The neighborhood is excellent. Venetian families live on the street, and hang out their laundry, and go shopping at the Billa supermarkert not far away and tie up their boats and keep fresh flowers on the little local shrine. The luxury hotel Palazzo Abadassa is at one end of the street, across a little canal, and you pass its pretty courtyard on the five minute walk to the great bakeries on the Strada Nova. The walk up to the Fondamenta Nuove where the boats leave for the islands takes you through beautiful squares with carved well-heads and over little bridges with gorgeous views. On clear days you can see the Alps floating in the distance. The owner was really helpful, and their are lots of guidebooks and maps in the apartment. As I write this, I'm homesick! It's a wonderful apartment and the kitchen has everything you need. There was even a pot of basil on the wide stone windowsill--I can't imagine staying in a better place in Venice! I hope to come back some day.
Owner response:This comment points out details and aspects that can help potential guests to choose their right place where to have a relaxing and pleasant Venetian stay, and the longer the better! Thank you for your refined and intelligent remarks. We are looking forward to to welcoming you soon again and maybe also in our country house.

My husband and I spent 10 days in this apartment during the last week of April-first week of May. All arrangements before our arrival went smoothly..even the volcano cooperated to let our flight get off. We took the vaporetto from the airport across the lagoon to the Fondamenta Nove stop and then rolled our luggage to the apartment. Only 6-8 minutes and three bridges to very easily find the apartment. The owner had arranged for a woman in the building to give us the key. All went smoothly. The apartment pictures on VRBO are very accurate. All walls are white with the living room (beamed ceiling) and bedrooms furnished in blues. The apartment has lots of windows on three sides so it is very light and sunny with a nice view along a canal on the front side as well as a side street. Original art by the owner's husband is in the living room and one of the bedrooms. Also great architectural prints of famous Venetian buidlings and a reproduction of an antique map of Venice on the walls. Lots of very useful tourist information and LOTS of books. The computer and wifi was very useful. Bathroom is small, especially the shower. The shower water temperature is fine once you wait a bit between folks taking showers and learn to adjust the temperature control. Having the washing machine was wonderful. One wall of the master bedroom is enclosed cabinets/closet providing plenty of room for clothes storage. Also great bedside lights for reading in the comfortable bed. The kitchen is well equipped. Several times we took the traghetto to Rialto in the morning for food to have in the apartment for a light dinner and then have a lunch in a great restaurant wherever we were in the city. The apartment location is great...away from the masses in San Marco, but easy walk to it. Plus it is close to two vaporetto stops. It's a great safe residental neighorhood with lots of bistros, small stores as well as near the train station and the busy Strada Nuova. We had several late dinners in the neighorbood and felt very safe coming home. For our stay, the surrounding apartments were very quiet. Overall we were very pleased. The apartment is clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. We loved the neighborhood, enjoyed exploring every part of this great city, and then returning to "our" apartment.
Owner response:Thank you for your comment! It is so enthusiastic and sincere and I think very helpful as it focuses on all the elements that are important and true and can help enjoying a best stay in Venice! Our family of four (including our 13 year old son and 11 year old daughter) had a wonderful time staying in this apartment in March 2010. The apartment is described accurately and the owner was very easy to deal with. It is also clean and has plenty of room. Its central locatation, close to a super shopping area, and within 5 minutes walking distance to two key boat stops make it an ideal place to stay for families. The building and local area is quiet, safe and secure and we would love to stay here again if we have another chance to visit Venice.

Hi Elisa, we wish to tell you how much we appreciate your apartment in Venice. We just returned from our second three week stay and look forward to another three weeks in 2011. We find your place to be well equipped and comfortable. The location suits us very well since Cannaregio area is very convenient to the Rialto market for food shopping renowned world wide and far enough from the heavy tourist areas to be comfortable.

We stayed for a week just before Christmas and loved this place... it was lovely to be in a quiet neighborhood. Groceries were very close by. Our daily stroll into the city was pleasant. We were warm and cozy -- even when it was freezing (literally) outside. We had acqua alta (high water) every day of our visit, but it only affected our plans one day. There had been big winds, so the water at the front door was quite high. We could have put on rubber boots (there are rubber boots in the apartment) but instead we just waited until the tide went down. Would come back in a heartbeat.

We stayed here in October 2009 and enjoyed our stay very much. The apartment met all our needs. We were able to quite comfortably walk to and from the train station to the apartment (about 20 minutes) pulling our suite cases behind us. Everything was close and yet we felt we were well away from the crowds and street noises. The kitchen was great and having a washing machine helped reduce our luggage.

We are entering and translating into English a comment we have just received by a German guest. They had wished to stay at our place but as it was booked we offered one nearby owned by an architect. This is the comment, and we kindly ask our potential guests to read it to help them in their decision. “if we had not known your place where we had felt so well, then we could not compare, but as it was the case, simply said and to come straight to the point : yours is much more beautiful! It is much more comfortable and it has charme, maybe also because you have real paintings on the walls and it is comfortably furnished with fine taste. This is surely not the case for the other which is tasteless with single pieces put together at random. We did not sit in the living room one single minute as it was so unwelcoming! On the walls only a stereotyped calendar and a poster Ikea style. Not that we need it much but there was no phone , no TV in the apt. and not even a radio to listen to the news…”. and it goes on , and on… Well we have even satellite TV! needless to say that as the owner boasts that is remodelled it is more expensive than ours. The comment of my cleaning lady is even worse, she had to clean details that at our place are always spotless. So if you wish a special place, with taste and real comfort you know where to find it.. in any case the other one is not in the vrbo listings, but it is just to give you an idea of what kind of guests we are looking for in order to be happy about our renting it: those who can enjoy our place and a real Venetian experience. We had one guest who complained about a stain in the carpet! As it could affect their well being! On top of that the cleaning lady is pretty sure they made it themselves as it was not there before. So we DO NOT WISH this kind of guest, but those who can perceive the beauty of Venice and then feel well when back in a warm and tasteful apartment with a charming view right on a canal, taken care of every week, if not every day, by the same cleaning lady for more than 12 years and regularly checked by us to change and improve several items and add amenities (see our list and other comments!)

There are many positive comments about this apartment, and they are all true. We would definitely recommend this to anyone and would stay here on any return visit if possible. If you come from the train station, and dont have much luggage, you can easily walk as there is a main street (strada nuova I think) that runs straight from there to very near the flat (the vaporettos add up, especially if there are a few of you). We were able to cook very well in the flat, even managing boiling beautiful crabs bought at the Rialto fish markets. There are also very good cheese and meat shops near the markets - dont forget you can get there quickly on the traghetto. The children loved watching the view on the canal from the flat, and we were extremely comfortable, there was everything you needed (except no Italian places have toasters!) and it was very quiet. Exactly what you expect of Venice. thanks!!
Owner response:There is and there always has been a toaster, just that week it had broken and we were getting another one! sorry for the temporary inconvenience!

We, two couples, stayed at this charming apartment after New Years for 4 nights. It is big enough and has all the features necessary. From kitchen supplies to bathroom items to CD Player. It is located, tucked away from the tourist places but central enough to get there in no time. It made us feel like locals. Restaurants, grocery store, waterbus station is all within 5 minutes walking distance. It was the perfect place to come home to, after some major sightseeing, to warm up and cook a nice meal, before going back out to explore Venice by night. I highly recommend this place, as it added to our incredible adventure in Venice.

We stayed in the apartment over the New Year. It is a great time to experience Venice, but cold, so it was great to have a warm apartment, conveniently located, to come back to to warm up after cold churches and museums. We went to the New Year celebrations in Piazza San Marco, enjoyed the holiday decorations and local kids setting off fireworks from the wellheads in every campo. As we waited for midnight it began to snow, and we got to see Venice with snow on the bridges and rooftops, even the occasional snowman. The descriptions in the listing and the other guest book comments certainly correspond to our experience. There are great places to eat nearby, and other visitors have left cards with recommendations to help you plan. It is nice to get away from the crush of tourists that surround the popular hotels near San Marco and the Rialto, but it is close enough that you can be anywhere you want in minutes. The pictures by H-H in the living room and small bedroom are great!

My friend and I stayed at Elisa's wonderful Venice apartment for 6 nights following our Ironman triathlon in Klagenfurt Austria. It was extremely relaxing and quiet and delivers everything as promised on the website. Transactions for rental were stress free and the information in the apartment and that Elisa sends to you is extremely helpful. Very easy to get to from the train station and when she says it is a 2-3 minute walk, it really is! The music from across the canal was such a charming addition. the apartment is an extremely easy, short walk to loads of shopping, bakeries, water taxi, etc. There are internet cafes within a 5 minute walk. The kitchen has everything you need and it was wonderful to be able to wash clothes after many days of travel. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone.

We (two Canadian women) spent two wonderful weeks in April, 2008, exploring Venice from this charming apartment. It is perfectly situated: off the beaten track, yet very close to wonderful neighbourhood shops, a large supermarket, restaurants and to the Rialto market. It's also close to Alilaguna and vaporetto stops. The apartment itself is clean, well equipped and very comfortable, located in a quiet, well-kept building. Elisa was extremely helpful both before and during our stay, providing directions, maps, and recommendations that made it easy for us to find the apartment, navigate the neighbourhood, and enjoy some wonderful meals a short walk away from our home base. She responded promptly to email questions before we arrived and to phone calls during our stay. The concerts that drifted through our open windows from the palazzo across the canal on each of the weekends we were there were a delightful bonus feature! L and P

Our family spent 4 nights at Elisa's apartment just before Christmas 2007. It was our first trip to Venice and we were charmed by the city, the people and the wonderful accommodation. The apartment was absolutely delightful, spotlessly clean and just as it appeared in the photos. The kitchen was very cosy and well equipped and the bathroom smartly renovated. We found it useful to make up a bed in the lounge for one daughter, and the other slept in the small second bedroom. We all found it very comfortable and loved the shutters which made the rooms nice and dark. The location was superb, just 5 minutes walk to the friendly local supermarket and markets on the Strada Nova main street and also to the boat stop for easy travel to the other sights in Venice. We felt like we were experiencing Venice first-hand, living in the quiet residential street, next to the canal. Thank you for all the information about Venice, Elisa, and for the homely accommodation you offer. We hope to visit again. Kind Regards Francisca and Anthony

It had EVERYTHING we needed. The owners have been very nice and helpful (she even bought things we needed). The apartment is centrally situated, cosy, comfortable and very clean. It's easy to keep it tidy and warm. Every room has at least one window, what makes it bright and easy to ventilate. The kitchen has everything one could need. It's allowed to use the phone of the apartment, which is very convenient to make reservations at the Venetian restaurants and to use prepaid cards to phone abroad. For us (carrying a pram) was also very convenient to have only one bridge to cross for reaching Strada Nuova (commercial street with anything one may need -even a big supermarket that opens 7 d

We had a lovely week in your apartment in Venice. We loved the feeling of being with "locals" and experiencing the real Venice. Everyone was wonderful and we enjoyed walking each evening and trying different restaurants at Stada Nuovo. We enjoyed the typicl Venetian Bar that you recommended and had a lovely meal. We returned again for more meatballs. We arrived by train and the directions were perfect. My husband had a problem walking, but he managed the short distance to the vaporetto which took us around Venice and Murano and Burano. On return to Venice we would definitely return to this comfortable apartment with its great location close to the Grand Canal. Regina & Bob Mostone, Dracut MA USA

What a beautiful apartment. We had a wonderful stay. The location is very nice...just a couple minutes walk from the vaporetto (water bus) stop. It's set on a quiet, secluded little street, but only takes a minute or two to walk to a shopping area, etc. It was great! If we make it back to Venice again, I will definitely be looking to see if this apartment is available!

We had a wonderful stay in Elisa and Hans Herman's apartment. The thorough travel and local information they provided was very helpful. The apartment was in a lovely location and after a few days we felt a bit like locals. The access to markets and cappucino bars was great! The apartment was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked and easy to cook in (the best we found on our vacation). Thanks again for the great stay. We will be back again soon!

We loved the apartment! Charming, beautiful, quiet, clean and welcoming, with three windows opening right onto a small canal. It was just the right size for my husband and I and our 18-year-old son. We had never been to Venice before and found this to be a wonderful way to see it, in a real neighborhood -- we even met some of the neighbors, all friendly. After our week was up, we spent one more night in Venice, in a lovely little hotel by the Academia Bridge -- but were homesick for the apartment! We highly recommend using the many fans supplied rather than the air conditioning -- it was cool enough and we felt so connected to the life of the city. The little restaurant you recommended nearby was perfect. Our only suggestions are to include information on your handout about how to use the recycling stickers for putting out plastics and glass -- and maybe where to go to fill bottles of the great local wines!
Owner response:Thank you for the suggestions, the recycling stickers is a novelty also for us! And for wine the Baccaro nearby is one of the best in Venice, if not he very best. We are looking forward to have you visiting again.

My husband and I rented this lovely apartment for 3 weeks in the summer of 2006. The apartment was very comfortable and well-furnished and a great location! The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals, which we did quite a bit. The king size bed was very comfortable. It was great to have a washer in the apartment because we were there long enough to need it. There is a great supermarket that is close by and the fish and produce market is right across the Grand Canal via the vaporetto. There is also a major shopping area that is only 2 blocks away. This area has great bread shops, gelaterias and restaurants. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to stay in a place away from the tourist areas, yet still be close to many sights. Enjoy!

My wife and I, and son and daughter-in-law stayed in this lovely apartment for a week in November, 2005. The accommodations were very comfortable, well maintained, nicely decorated with original artwork, and had a lot of windows. We felt after a day or so that this was our home. Although the apartment has two bedrooms and convertible sofas in the living room, I would not recommend more than 4 people in this apartment. The apartment is located on the second floor of a larger, traditional apartment building which is typical of Venice dwellings. The unit was well furnished with everything you might need in terms of linens, cooking utensils, basic spices, etc. The apartment is bordered on one side by a small canal and on the other by a small street from which you enter the apartment. The neighborhood was quiet, safe, away from the bustle and noise of busier streets – but very close in walking distance to all kinds of shopping – groceries, bakeries, apparel, restaurants, etc. Elisa, the owner, was very friendly, and exceedingly easy to work and coordinate with. Directions to the apartment were very easy to follow and an adventure in itself being that this was out first visit to Venice. We arrived by train from Rome, took the vaporetto water transport, and walked the short distance to the apartment with our wheeled luggage. Be prepared to walk A LOT in Venice, since it is the only way to really see and enjoy these beautiful surroundings. We had a fantastic time staying in this apartment, enjoying the sights, sounds, foods, ambiance, and very unique life style of this very special place. We can’t wait to go back!Lawrence

We enjoyed our vacation in Venice in June 2005. The apartment was close to everything, the kitchen was fully equipped and the location very quiet. We would recommend the unit to anyone who would like to visit Venice and be able to walk to local restaurants and markets. It was our first private rental overseas and we were very pleased. Regards, Victoria PS: One suggestion we would like to make to the owner:you might want to consider adding a TV in the living room.

We agree enthusiastically with the positive comments made by previous guests. We rented the apartment just after Easter 2005 and it was almost perfect for us. We appreciated the quietness of the street where it is located combined with the fact that it is only a couple of minutes away from the Rialto market, which has a wonderful range of fresh fruit, vegetables and fish. The apartment itself is extremely comfortable and well furnished, and the cooking facilities are very good with plenty of utensils and basic spices, etc. (One small suggestion: there was only an abbreviated English language version of the information and instructions about the flat which were more fully available in German. Perhaps the full version could also be made available in English.) We certainly hope to return in the near future.

We were fortunate to stumble upon this terrific flat while surfing the vrbo website. Sheri and I spent 11 days here at the end of August and in early September, 2004. This apartment was perfect for us. We were initially worried we would have a hard time getting here, dragging our luggage through the streets and over bridges. Actually, after being up for 16 hours on a transatlantic journey, nothing could have been simpler. We took a bus straight from the airport to Piazza Romale, then a short vaporetto trip to a stop only two minute walk from the flat. The directions we received were simple and direct. The apartment was quiet and cool, yet only a block away from a well-travelled street that led to the water taxis in one direction, or the Rialto Bridge in the other. There were at least 10 excellent restaurants within 3 or 4 blocks of the flat. We cooked when we wanted (in a well-equipped kitchen) or wandered wherever our noses took us. We especially enjoyed the central location, because it meant we could sight- see all morning, get back easily for a rest, then head out again for a great evening on the town. The beds were comfortable, the canal view exquisite and the amenities delightful. There was even a TV with 400 channels (hopefully a few more in English soon). We found all our shopping needs available within about 3 blocks. Our hosts, Elisa and Hans-Hermann, checked in to make sure we were comfortable, answered all our questions and made excellent suggestions about exploring the local area. We were very fortunate to actually meet them when they came to Venice for the film festival, and we spent a great evening together at the Lido. We have travelled most of the world over the years and stayed in numerous hotels, pensions, inns, apartments and villas. We certainly wouldn't return to all of them, but we would return here in an instant! Thanks for a wonderful holiday. Jeremy and Sheri

A very charming apartment. We had a really nice time staying at your apartment. The location is great because it's close to the water taxi station, easy to find, and it is in a quiet neighbourhood. We rented this apartment on July 4th 2003 and there were 6 adults and 1 little boy. The room that my husband and I slept in was small. But the other two rooms are nice and spacious. The kitchen is very cozy and complete with utensils that we need to cook and eat our meals. The whole apartment is in general very clean. Suggestions: May be you should provide than one key to enter the apartment especially with a large group of people. Provide an instruction on how to dispose our waste. Thank you for renting your apartment to us :)

As owners we just would like to say that 4 years passed since we wrote our first introducing comment in July 2003 :" we recently subscribed and we hope to have many guests coming through Vrbo. We have most successfully been working with European guests from Germany, France, Holland, UK, but as our holidays tend to be on the same dates we hope to enlarge our clients also to the US and other countries especially in the so called low season, which happens to be the best to be a tourist, because places, museums and boats are not so crowded. We kindly ask our potential guests to write to us only if they are serious about booking and before asking questions to please first read our texts. We are available for any further information. Thank you to all our guests who write back to us with comments and suggestions!" Since then the VRBO guests have been the most frequent and enthusiastic and helpful with suggestions and we hope top continue the relationship for wonderful holidays and stays in Venice of one or more weeks !
