We had a great month in Oceanside! Thank you for renting your vacation home to us. We used the fire pit EVERY single night! The kids enjoyed playing with all of the beach toys you provided. There was plenty of bedding and towels. The kitchen was very well stocked. My 6 year old nephew Josh asked if we could press the rewind button and start the week all over again. :) We all agreed that we would love to do this again in the future! I will be recommending your rentals.

My wife and I were looking for the perfect vacation spot to celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary. We looked at all of the typical beach resort locations such as Hawaii , Bahamas and even Fiji. After deciding that we wanted to stay stateside we stumbled onto the Red Door House in Oceanside Ca. After further review of the location. My wife and I decided to have the kids and grand-kids there for the first 3 days then have the rest of the week to ourselves. I am so very happy we came to this decision. My family and I had the best most relaxing vacation we have ever had. The house is wonderful with plenty of room. The fishing was incredible from my private beach. We were fortunate enough to experience the red tide during our stay. Little did we know the red tide creates a neon glow when the waves crash in the evening. The view was spectacular. Although the town of Oceanside is very nice with plenty to see and do. Other than playing golf one day, I did not want to leave the house. The owner , Kim is wonderful to work with and very accommodating. My wife and I both work in the high stress high tech Silicon Valley. If you are looking for a fantastic vacation spot for just the two of you or the entire family. This is the place to go. Once you get there and your watching dolphins play in the water right in front of you. I promise you will never want to leave the house. My suggestion is to Pack light , bring a surf pole and a few make that many bottles of good wine and JUST CHILL!

The home is everything the pictures show and more. The house gave us all plenty of room to relax and enjoy each other. We were able to play on the beach, enjoy breakfast, lunch & dinner on the picnic tables, and roast marshmallows in the fire pit at night. For the past several years my family and I have always come to San Diego to escape the cold. A couple weeks ago we visited San Diego for a family wedding and stayed at this house. We have always rented houses instead of staying at hotels when in San Diego and this is by far the best house we have come across. The interior of the home gives a fun beach vibe yet is very clean and updated, while the exterior has a private beach area for your family and a patio and picnic table for hanging out. The owner was very considerate and showed us numerous local spots for eating and shopping etc.. that we would have never found on our own. In my experience finding a good place to rent is way to stressful and Im just thankful i found Kim and her house to make the experience the best it could be and take the hassle out renting. I would recommend staying here to anyone looking for a fun family trip.

My family and I just recently stayed at this wonderful beach cottage. All I can say is that it was absolutely fantastic! The house itself is great. If you are looking for a beach theme house that is very comfortable and relaxing, this is the place for you. The views are wonderful, with the house only about a mile south of the pier. Almost every morning we woke up to see dolphins swimming out front of the house. Kim was extraordinarily helpful in everything we needed. She went out of her way to make sure we had a great stay. The house is also located near a ton of great restaurants and surf shops where you can rent and buy anything you need to have fun in the ocean. All in all this was one of the best vacations my family and I have ever been on and I cannot wait to book another week in the future!

We spent two weeks in July 2011 in this charming beach house entertaining our children and grandchildren. There are too many great amenities to mention, but the location couldn't have been better--right on a great beach, grass in the yard, halfway between Disneyland and Sea World, great shopping and restaurants. Kim was great to work with and the house was spotlessly clean and well furnished. The arrangement of a bedroom for us (grandparents) upstairs, and the kids and grand kids in the three bedrooms downstairs gave us a bit of privacy as well as all the together time we wanted. We loved watching the dolphins play in the ocean, cooking marshmallows over the fire pit, combing the uncrowded beach, playing in the ocean, and socializing on the grassy area. I would highly recommend this beach house rental to my best friends!!

Great Beach House and Great Location Imagine a traditional beach cottage and this place is it. Cute and charming and very fresh and clean. It felt like a real classic beach house inside and out. The house came with everything we needed from flat screen TVs to giant shovels to dig in the sand. The backyard on the beach was perfect for BBQs. We had a bon fire every night. Liked having the lawn, it kept us cool and great place to get a tan while watching the surfers and dolphins. Good location too. Near both downtown Carlsbad and Oceanside so it is close to shopping and restaurants. We ate at PF Changs, Kings Fishouse and Vigaluccis in Carlsbad and Harni Sushi and 333 in Oceanside. Rubys at the end of Oceansides Pier is a fun 50's burger joint.

My husband and I decided it would be nice to rent a beach house with another family to kick off our kids' summer vacation this year. We had never been to Oceanside before (though we had been to San Diego for a Sea World trip once before) but it turned out to be just perfect. The kids enjoyed having a room to share and play in and the house was more than large enough to contain all 8 of us. The house has it's own private beach and the kid's definitely enjoyed being able to go play outside "without the parents" (though we could still see them from the living room windows!) We took advantage of the fire pit for roasting marshmallows and enjoyed the gorgeous California beach weather. There is truly nothing better than falling asleep to the sound of the waves crashing - this is truly one of the most relaxing places I have been in quite sometime and I'm sure we will be returning for many years to come! Thanks Kim for the great vacation and for your hospitality!

There are so few homes in all of Southern California like this one where there is no street or crowded boardwalk and sidewalk between the home and the ocean that people really like the beachfront privacy this home offers. Perfect Family Beachfront Vacation

We had the perfect family reunion and beach vacation in this wonderful beach house. Just as promised It is right on the beach and it really does have it is own private beach and fire ring. Since we have kids, we loved that no one else could be on or use the private beach except our family. Also, there is a lawn in this beachfront back yard that we found to be a very refreshing and cooling place to tan while watching the kids dig in the sand. The home is adorable, just like the photos, only prettier! We have one in the "crawling" stage who will eat anything on the floors so we loved how clean the place was and how the home comes with pack n plays and high chairs. Our kids spent every day playing on the beach pretending to be pirates. We spent one day at the Zoo and another at Seaworld but our kids really wanted to stay at the beach house and play on the beach. Next time we will do just that and not pay the admission fees. We had bon fires almost every day and the local grocery store, Ralphs, sold wood in five dollar bundles. My husband loves Sushi and we found a funky local hangout we could walk to called Fish Joint that has the best and freshest Sushi we have ever tasted. Another tip we can share is to bring back breakfast burritos from Taco Shop Number 13 and eat them on the beach. But our best meals were roasting hot dogs on the beach- our kids had never done that before and loved it. I guess our five year old said it best when it was time to get in the car to go home: I dont want to go home, I want this home!

Owner response:Thank you for your wonderful review. Thanks too for commenting about the lawn. We just added the lawn in the last year and everyone seems to love it for beachfront picnics and BBQs. We also noticed having the lawn between the house and the beach tends to keep the sand on the beach and not in the house. The family who has rented it for the month of May will be having a beachfront wedding on that lawn! Thanks again :)

60th birthday family trip

The outdoor spaces were lovely. We enjoyed the fire pit and sunsets. Lots of seating and toys for kids. The dining room table with benches was great for our big group and the views were spectacular. The beach in front of the house was not crowded compared to the pier area. The owners provided a huge binder with area attractions, menus and other points of interest which we found very useful. The inside layout was difficult for us. The staircase to the lower level 3 bedrooms was outside, hence the "private entrances". The bedroom with 2 queen beds was attached to the downstairs living room did not have a door and was mostly open to the living room area downstairs. Although, it was supposed to be a good room for kids, it was difficult for us because our children were under 5 and once they went to bed someone needed to stay downstairs since it is not connected to the main living space upstairs, we would not know if any of them needed anything or if they got up. The property was well maintained and clean for a house over 100 years old. Overall, we had a lovely vacation.

We really needed to get away from the snow and this was the perfect answer. The sun was warm and the house was terrific. The location on the beach could not have been better. Imagine green grass on a beach in Jan. That never could happen in Wisc.

Me and my family rented the house this past month and had the time of our lives. The beach is private and free of people, it was perfect for our family having the fire pit and house on the beach with our own sand yard for the kids to play in. I would recommend the house to anyone it was full of beach decorations and most importantly very clean. Honestly me and my family have been traveling to California for summer trips for years and this is the nicest place we have stayed yet. I hope you enjoy an amazing time!
