On Lake Oconee - Open Space - Vacation Hideaway
- Minimum stay:N/A

This is a perfect getaway from the city for a weekend retreat or week long vacation or longer. There is a large dock and seawall in the cove swimming area and a large grassy yard for games and running around. Jacuzzi Hot Tub, nice patio and screened in porch to enjoy the outside.
Heavily wooded on three sides to offer a lot of privacy.
Beautiful stone fireplace in the great room and a firepit in the yard in an open area so no dangers. Everything provided and all you have to do is bring yourselves and good company.
Large great room, fully remodeled kitchen, fully stocked silverware, DVD Player, Satellite TV (including DirecTV sports package to not miss out on the games you want to watch), wireless internet, dishes, glassware, toaster, other small appliances, etc. Pull out couch, recliner, love seat...very open great room for party atmosphere or gathering of family. Washer / Dryer in laundry room.
Exceptional Price. This is the lake house my family uses some weeks as well so we rent for cheap instead of staying vacant and thus you can be the winner with a cost effective place to stay that is on the water and very nice.

My stay on Lake Oconee with my family was very serene, peaceful, relaxing, and fun. We enjoyed our vacation rental because we had everything we could possibly want and need at our fingertips. The local people were extraordinary. The fishing on the lake was good. Having such close access to the lake and to our boat was an added plus. It is a home away from home and much more. Hated to leave. Thank you so much for helping us to create great memories!!!!. I am sure we will come back for another visit. PS....the customer service exceeded all of our expectations!!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you very much and it was enjoyable to hear how much fun you had. Please stay in touch and come back anytime! Greg

Thank you, Greg, for providing your lake house at a very reasonable price for a great family vacation. And thank you for your flexibility in working with us on arrival and departure times. As we discussed, your lakehouse is close to Typhoon Tommy's where we rented a pontoon boat. The kitchen was set up well for family meals. The house was very clean and comfortable. Thank you again for your hospitality!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Barbara, Thank you very much for the kind words and we look forward to having you come back again in the future. I am glad that you had such a great trip.

My girlfriends were looking for an easy weekend getaway and this lake house fit the bill! The house is great - beautiful kitchen/living area, 3 nice sized bedrooms, screened-in porch and lots of space! I love the fact that Greg let me bring my dog - very pet friendly! The backyard is huge - this would be great for barbeques and picnics! The hot tub was nice (we didn't use it that much) as we spent most of the time on the cove. The lake cove is relaxing and nice. We used the dock to sunbathe and floated in the cove area. One thing that might be useful is putting a small pool type ladder on the dock so you can get in and out of the water a little easier. There are good places to eat nearby - The Silver Moon is a must-do - get there early so you are not waiting for an hour! Ritz Carlton Reynolds Plantation has Gaby's by the lake. The one hint I would give you before getting to the house is do your shopping first. Publix is about 10 miles away - get your groceries first so you are not trekking back out again. If you want a relaxing vacation - this is the place to go!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Michelle, I am so glad that you had a great time. We look forward to having you and your family or friends back again in the future. Please call me if I can help out with anything and have a great rest of your summer.

My wife and I stayed here Apr 18-22, 2012. We were a little turned off by the previous "rant-review" but decided it was a little too over the top to be true. So, we gave the home a shot. Absolutely nothing about that rant was true. The cable worked, Hot Tub worked, we grilled and had zero issues accessing the lake. Great little house! Greg was a great guy to work with, professional and jumped through a few hoops for us as well. We'll definitely be coming back. Thanks again Greg.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: I am glad that you guys enjoyed your stay so much. I look forward to having your family and friends back again when convenient. Please feel free to call me anytime. Thank you again! Greg

My family and I rented this house for a weekend trip to Lake Oconee. The house and property were awesome. We kept the boat at the dock which was very convenient. We had no issues with anything regarding this property. There was plenty of room for the kids to run around the yard and play. The neighbors were down near the dock cleaning their boat and they are very nice people. The waterway near the dock was plenty deep enough for my 18 foot Bass Tracker. The only thing the neighbors warned me about was a stump under the water about 25 feet in front of the dock twords the lake on the same side as the dock is. I had no issues going around to make sure I didn't hit it. All around the trip was great and the kids had a blast on the lake. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who wants a nice quiet place to stay that is convenient to the lake.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Nathan, I am glad you guys enjoyed your stay and look forward to having you back in the future. Please let me know how I can help. Thanks again! Greg

Family rented for Labor Day so that son from VA in Augusta could spend time with family....What a joke. Had trouble getting in the house, cable bill hadnt been paid and couldnt watch COLLEGE football, the yard had dog poop in it because the neighbors have a sign that says no pooping in their yard. The cove is very shallow and the water was down, almost got our boat stuck, plus, you share the dock with others. We had to wait an hour one evening just to dock the boat. The owner got his CASH with a quickness but never called back---said he was out of town with no signal....I got signal for you, read between the lines!Owner response: Cindi, It is good to hear from you and appreciate all feedback so that we can make our house a great place for families to enjoy. I am not sure why 6 months after your stay you would write such a aggressive and angry review and am concerned that it is not factual. I tried calling you even after your stay, but never received a call back. I did get the multiple messages from someone else in your party with the continued profanity. I was in the mountains on Colorado with my sister's family at her in-laws cabins. I received the messages about the DirecTV when we went into town for some supplies and called immediately. I had DirectTV out the following week to install a new dish as it had gone out of alignment in a storm apparently. To say in a public forum that I didn't pay the bill is just not true, but I understand you have a right to your opinions. You didn't have to share the dock as it is my dock and virtually every person who has stayed there likes the extra space of being able to fish and utilize my neighbors seawall so we have it arranged to where folks can utilize the full 150+ ft of dock and sea wall rather than just the 30' dock. I have a 24' inboard wakeboard boat that sits deep in the water and doesn't have an option to trim the prop and have never gotten stuck so it is difficult to imagine another boat getting close to be stuck. It is 5-6' water and GA Power monitors the lake and keeps it within 1' water level all the time, even in drought it stays constant as the pump water in from Lake Sinclair. I am sorry that my neighbor doesn't want dogs on his property and that is his right, but you are the first person to mention anything about that being a problem. It is unfortunate that you never spoke to be about your concerns and rather chose this forum 6 months later. It sounds like your issues were in summary - DirecTV (which I didn't have control of after the storm and handled right away), dog waste (first time I have ever heard anything of that nature), and the dock/water (part not true and part hard to believe). I hope you have a better stay somewhere else next time and leave our house to our family and the couple hundred people who have thoroughly enjoyed it through the years. Greg

I had a conference at the Ritz-Carlton that coincided with an "off week" for my husband. We decided to make a family trip out of it - brought our boat & our 2 small dogs. My husband was able to enjoy fishing during the day while I was at my conference. We enjoyed having the whole family there by being able to bring our dogs. The rates are very reasonable for a 3BR/2BA house on the lake making it a nice affordable place to stay for those who would enjoy a vacation on a beautiful lake. I would also recommend a wonderful restaurant nearby on Hwy 44 north of the intersection where Old Pheonix Road crosses (at the McDonalds). It is the Silver Moon Bar & Grill - but don't look for the sign to have that name. It simply says Bar & Grill. They have been there for over 9 years and developed such a reputation for their stellar food and service that they have never had to put their name on the sign! The food is AMAZING! They truly have the best burger we have ever eaten at a restaurant - but they also have amazing prime rib, barbequed ribs, fish and chips, etc. We only stayed 4 nights - happened upon this place the first night and ate there every night! And their martinis are wonderful! This nice house affords a real opportunity to enjoy a nice area of Georgia at a price that is truly affordable!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children.
Owner response: Linda, Thank you for the review and I will add Silver Moon to the welcome email...I also wanted to thank you for the insight on how we can make it even more enjoyable for future guests. I look forward to having you and your husband and dogs out again later this year if you can make it work. I always offer repeat guests discounts. Thanks!

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2006
About the owner: My family grew up always having a lake house and my wife grew up on the Gulf COast of Florida so having a place for us to be on the water was important to us.
Why the Owner Chose Buckhead:
We bought this home because it was in the perfect part of the lake in the nice clean water and we have the ability to get to the Ritz by boat or car in short time. We liked being in a little finger off the lake for fishing and kids to swim without boats and waves going by. The yard is great with a fire pit in the middle for marshmallows and late nights relaxing around the fire. It is so peaceful at Oconee in a seasons and a great retreat for us to get away from Atlanta. We have enjoyed so many good times at Lake Oconee with family and friends...plus we are able to help many other families make great memories.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Reynolds Plantation 10 min. away", Marina with jet ski and pontoon boat rental 5 min. away", Movie theater, restaurants, Publix Supermarket, and many other things just 10 min. away. Public boat ramp about 1 mile away.
